But, you know, Steam stores it's game files (and thus usually it's save data and stuff) somewhere in the dark depths of the Steam dungeon, not in the regular location of the CD installer. Thought that might stop it picking them up automatically.Arandomindividual wrote...
They should, it's the same game.

Steam has its own achievement system separate from ours, so I don't believe your DA achievements would be reflected there.

I think we'll get both Steam achievements and DA achievements, simply by being logged in/online while playing DA. It'll sync with this social site and Steam's network.Fernando Melo wrote...
Mods shouldn't be affected by going Steam or any other digital edition. I would throw out the normal caveat that all of that assumes the person who did the mod didn't do anything silly like actually trying to fiddle with the exe. If it is just the mod data, you should be good.

Have they changed the thing on the EA store where you're effectively renting the game, not buying it, 'cause you only get one year of access to the download?
I believe this has changed, but I honestly have not checked it recently.

Well, considering we didn't develop anything for Steam achievements, I'm pretty sure it won't. Sorry. :innocent:

Disappointing. Achievements make so much more sense when you can keep everything you get from different games together in one place.Fernando Melo wrote...

I'd choose downloading a 20GB over that. In fact i am gonna cancel my amazon pre-order right now and pre-purchase the steam version and add it to the list of games. I'm sad that this is the only Bioware game i will have no game case with but i need to be logical.

See the blog entry "Dragon Age PR in action"
http://www.theengine...uild.co.uk/blog
Basically for those who want the quick version, you get a little bonus for ordering it from steam, another little bonus for pre ordering it, and another little bonus for it being the delux version.
Though to be honest, the delux version included wardens keep which is likely to cost £10 on its own anyway, so £30 for the standard version, plus £40 for delux, actually leaves you a head because of the other extras you get.
Check out the blog, work it out for your selfs, see if I am right on this or not.
Also i get the impression Biowares addon will insert them selves in the dragon age world, but i might be wrong here but I hope I am not. It would be cool to edit the same worldspace that way if mods are allowed too.
PS I too have pre ordered it from steam now.

Yes it says the same thing here but the email i got clearly says Delux version was purchased so I would not worry about it. We will be playing the standard game so that is right, the difference will be that we get the DLC content as standard amongst other things.Bundin wrote...
I too acquired the Digital Deluxe Edition through Steam. In my games list, it currently says "Dragon Age: Origins (unrealeased)". No word about it being the Digital Deluxe version. Does it say the same for everyone else?

They tend to release PDF files instead but PDF is a format designed for printing not reading and those who download are more likely to prefer an online manual than a manual that has to printed out or zoomed in to in order to be read.
I think companies are missing an opportunity by not providing online manuals on their website along side the usual game support these days. Websites are alive, they grow, they reflect the readers, manuals are static and unchangable.
An online manual could include forum tips as they appear, a paper manual cannot, an online manual can include work around between patches, a paper manual might not and the owner of the copyright can always use the manual page to make sure its customer is aware of what ever information that want them to know about be it a new patch or a up and coming game.
I think online manuals will appear sooner or later when the companies realize what they are missing but until then we at stuck with a highly unsuitable PDF file format for things like steam.
