Dear employees of the company BioWare. We, Russian admirers of creative work of your company, sincerely thank you for all of those games that you have given to the world. Series MassEffect is a masterpiece of gaming. We hope very much that the Russian version of MassEffect3 will be announced by professional Russian actors and will be no worse than the European version, and cordially appeal you to do it.

What European version? You mean the Czech one that was sold in Slovakia, had "Reapers" translated as "Mowing machines" and prevented you from installing Lair of the Shadow Broker due to technical issues?

This European version taught me one crucial thing: Buy the frieking English original next time.

When I saw this message I thought, "By what right do you address from all of the Russian community?"
Then I thought that few people will respond to this ridiculous appeal, but I was deeply surprised that so many supported this appeal.
I hope that this appeal will be accepted exactly as nonsense, because you are not the target audience, for you will not spend resources for a quality and atmospheric dubbing. Those who really want to enjoy the game does not need dubbing. This appeal will change nothing.

There was an oversight in one part of a dialogue where they translated them as "mowing machines". Not a big thing, in fact it made my day back then. It is just a tip of the iceberg to illustrate hopelessness of these translation efforts. Czech version had much more mistranslations, for example, when Miranda referred to Shepard as a "bloody icon" in the first scene, it was translated literally as "icon covered in blood" instead of the metaphorical "damn icon".
And another thing, "Husks" are translated as "nutshells" (in the entire game).

And as the final insult, this Czech version was distributed in Slovakia, since the languages are mutually intelligible, like Norwegian and Danish. So that is akin to Americans having to endure French movie translated by Jamaicans.

Fortunately, ME3 will not be localized to Czech so I won't accidentally buy Czech version of Collector's Edition like I did last time.

That would be awesome.

I am pretty sure that that or simply shells is the proper translation.

Hahaha totally support the Russian request! I have a lot of Russian friends. And by the way in ME1 Rosenkov Materials literally owns other companies in terms of weapons and armour superiority! Rosenkov for the win!

Hypocritical much?
I'm sorry, but what right do you have to decide what people need to enjoy the game?
I, for one, will never play localized version, or even version with subtitles, but to deny such possibility for other people on that basis would be extremely ignorant.

Yes, Russian translation (and many others) were horrible, but that's what this thread is for (among other things): to ask for a non-horrible translation and localization. Because, you know, not everyone in the world speaks English and not everyone enjoys reading subtitles.

Besides, if both localized and English versions would be included on disc, that would solve all problems.

So why don't we let EA decide what the target audience is and how to spend their resources, hmm?

Get off your high horse and better do it fast. If he didn't enjoy his russian localized version so be it. I didn't enjoy the polish one either.

So what? I didn't enjoy russian translation either. Does this make a request for a localization "nonsense"? No, this is just my opinion.
I was addressing the fact that Dem_B objects to the OP for speaking for all russian community and then in the same post claims to speak for all people "who really want to enjoy the game". No contradiction whatsoever, right?

But this is off-topic, so I'd better cut it out.

That would be awesome because I made it out to be. Think rather about some repulsive hillbilly dialect. It does not mix up well with epic sci-fi, does it?

No, you are wrong. The proper translation is "postbox".

First of all - I support the proper translation. 'Cause when I saw Grunt's name being translated like "Грюнт" and the banter with the turian bartender, where the phrase "Unless you're dextro-DNA, like me. If you are it will kill you" was translated like "Unless you're dextro-DNA, like me. If you are I will kill you" (seriously, wtf?) - I was yet again reminded, why I play the English version.

But yeah, I support good Russian localization, why not.

Warcraft 3/TFT :)

Learn English... Russian localization will be always worse than the original, no matter how good the translators are. The only exception was Warcraft 3/TFT :)

Huh, I didn't know there're so many Russians lurking in teh BioWare forums.

Personally, I will never buy a Russian localization of any game that was originally produced and meant to be played in English. It's a blight on the game's purity (lol) and I prefer English to Russian, frankly. Don't see what's all the hype with "PLEASE LOCALIZE IT" - if you don't know English or can't appreciate the original voiceover, it's only YOUR problem :P
