Sure, I'm no Russian, but I'll support a Russian localisation. Spread the Mass Effect love and all that.

Warcraft 3/TFT :)

Learn English... Russian localization will be always worse than the original, no matter how good the translators are. The only exception was Warcraft 3/TFT :)

Huh, I didn't know there're so many Russians lurking in teh BioWare forums.

Personally, I will never buy a Russian localization of any game that was originally produced and meant to be played in English. It's a blight on the game's purity (lol) and I prefer English to Russian, frankly. Don't see what's all the hype with "PLEASE LOCALIZE IT" - if you don't know English or can't appreciate the original voiceover, it's only YOUR problem :P

Warcraft 3/TFT
If good actors are found, they can perform no worse than the ones in Warcraft 3/TFT.

Google Translate will not cut it, BW. Hire some Russian developers to translate it for you, perhaps?

You know what's the most stupid part about it? I can understand not having good VAs, but the Russian localizations usually have so many pathetic grammatical errors you'd think no one at all knows English there (which is close to the truth, but it shouldn't be like that for the translation team!)

I guess it would be a hell of a job to find so many good voice actors in Moscow, not to mention Huge amount of money. I would prefer good subs. In fact ME1 have been voiced in russian but it was SO horrific, dont even want to rem... oh God... DAO translation was rather decent(excluding sound director mistakes when you could hear voice actors monologue: "i did not share my fathers specticism....scepticism..damn..scepticism..i did not share my fathers scepticism" www.youtube.com/watch even then it was rather hilarious:lol:), Morrigan for example had  very sexy voice www.youtube.com/watch(another uncuted monologue). Only downside of localization were companions oversimplification and sometimes strange ...translation of jokes(real tragedy for russian budy Alister and Shale(girl voice from the beginging=no surprise in the anvil). Not bad overal but sometimes you just wanna cry "what have they done!".

ME2 and DA2 were a real blessing for me. Only subs and beautiful english. Still vote FOR PROPER RU  localization:wizard: coz a lot of my....comrades must fully enjoy ME3!

To enjoy ME3 fully, they should learn English.

Support the request. =)
I wonder though if it is hard to do? Why NOT make a full localization? Wouldn't it widen the fan range, increase sales?
XD

Sometimes lines come out better then the original, when translated using brains and humor.

So do you support hungarian localization or the russian one? :)

Several other... irritating things.

- females with male voices (girl which led team to Zevran's ambush, for example) and vice versa.

- mistakes. "Where you've lost your sword, Sten?" - Voice: "At Lothering". Subtitles: "Near lake Calenhad"

- accents. Orlesians are supposed to have French accent and Antivans - Spanish, right? Wrong. And yes, Zevran and Kaidan having the same voice still bugs me.

ME2 and DA2 were a real blessing for me. Only subs and beautiful english. Still vote FOR PROPER RU  localization:wizard: coz a lot of my....comrades must fully enjoy ME3!

Aand... now I'm joining, too! Getting used to original DA2 and turning subtitles off finally opened my eyes on how much necessity to read subtitles distracts from watching. Cross my sceptici... scepticism... scepticism out :P

I've mentioned this in a previous post, but I guess I will state it again.

It is most likely not financially viable for Bioware to do a full on professional localization for that particular region.

IIRC, the piracy rate in Russia, and most of the former block countries/territories for that matter, have entertainment software piracy rates exceeding 90%. That is insane. It is lower for Xbox, and from what I'm told even lower on PS3 (I've actually never seen a hacked game on a PS3 before to be honest), but still-the cost to benefit ratio is simply not worth it.

Many players in poorly localized regions make the argument that if it was done better, it would generate more legitimate sales, but this is hogwash. Releasing Russian, Czech, Albanian, Chinese, whatever versions of a game is like flushing money down a damn toilet.

Now, I'm fairly certain that the individuals posting on these forums are decent folk that enjoy the entertainment Bioware has to offer honestly, and support the developers by purchasing the game.

That being said, the majority of you countrymen do not. Period. Nothing EA, Bioware, Sony, Microsoft or whoever can do-beyond inventing some crazy from of DRM, will change that.

It is a travesty that true fans of Mass Effect, regardless of linguistic preference or geographical location have to suffer through some gawd awful translation because of the acts of others, but there it is.

I know capitalism might be an alien concept in those regions, but here is a handy rule. You get what you pay for. And if you're not paying for crap.... well you reap what you sow. Enjoy.

Ahem, streamlock. To say that it's irritating when internet shops don't even allow purchasing e-materials because "you're Russian = you're thief" is to say nothing.

Just a small addition: I can't remember fully translated game (with dialogues and signs and such things) released simultaneously with European version. This lag might be caused either by studios finishing regional version or by companies deciding if the game worth localising (I probably don't want to know which data this decision is based on). And I should say, the latter is rather popular - even such potentional giant as Mass Effect (first) was initially only subtitled, with "gold edition" appearing several years later. But... this happened, despite one version of game already present on market; other franchises might get full voiceover from the beginning. And if local retailers make this, this means someone other is going to pay for this versions (they won't make this if no one is going to give money for their work, do I understand alien concept of capitalism right?). And if people are ready to pay for other games enough to make fully voiced version, why not make one for continuation of rather popular here series?

Full localization? Nah, is a bad idea.
In ME2 even the subtitles don't correctly translated, too many mistakes.

The ideal option would be Skyrim - like (or DA2 - like): don't like fully localised option? Change the language in option, voila, original voices.

Although Skyrim downloaded 2 Gb after that...

That being said, I would like to see fully voiced localizations of ME2 and ME3, so that my non-English-speaking brother can enjoy them like he did ME1.

Yes. I was going to make a thread asking for this really soon. I have no idea why BioWare has been ignoring Russia.
