It seems like every RPG I install on my PC whether its from Bioware or Bathesda, CTD problems always occur. This time in this game I had this happen only rarely but as soon as I entered the Fade in the Mages Circle series of quests, the crashes happen every 5-10 mins with no specific error.
I am running the Ultimate Edition which is supposed to be patched up to latest version automatically. Latest video drivers. My system is a AMD Phenon II 3x core 720 BE, 4GB DDR3, Radeon HD 4870, onboard sound (Asus mobo) and Windows 7 64bit which this game is supposed to be compatible with. UAC is also disabled.
When I had this problem for Fallout 3 I foudn that I had to disable the game from using the 3 cores but I don'[t want to start messing around with the game files unless there is a known fix.

This is a know bug on win7 64-bit and as far as I know there is, unfortunately, no solution to it yet. You could try to apply for the beta for patch 1.05 and check if it's solved in it. Otherwise, I'm out of option except for google.

Do you have a link for the beta patch? I could not find it. I did notice this crashing only happens when in the Fade. I adjusted some of my graphics settings as I suspect the effects used in the fade are screwing up the video driver. I'm really growing quite tired of these problems with PC games. I'm not running an obscure system configuration here at all.

The beta patch is to fix DLC authorization issues. If you check the solutions roundup pinned to the top of this forum you will find that the game does not address multi-core processors well and it causes crashes. There is a link to directions to set your CPU affinity to a single core.
