Casey sometimes does come up with some ***-pulls like the time he said in an interview that people on the forums were saying that the mining mini game is addicting

People complained about her catsuit.
They gave her a full suit of armor in DLC.
People are complaining about Ashley's catsuit.
Casey said she's getting a full set of armor from the start.
I'm just saying, don't worry about it too much.

in all fairness we were told "don't worry about it" when we first started complaining about the fact that it looked like we would not be able to customize armor at all and that some outfits looked silly.......guess what happened?

...you don't get it.
It's bioware's game. Not yours. It's bioware's character, not yours. They've even confirmed in several ways that Ashley will have armor. And you're putting your fingers in your ears and singing, instead of...excuse me..."getting off of your own soapbox."
Do you think you can design Ashley better than her creators?
Some of us don't accept filth being forced-fed on us as if we don't know any better. Some of us detect the presence of filth in that picture because we're not so craven as to bow for some proprietary mystique of BioWare's, which you believe is yours to uphold all because you appreciate the misogynistic catsuit.
Let's not pretend that their being at the helm is any excuse for them to pull this crap against female characters. There's nothing to stop anyone from calling BS when it's this bad.
STOP! Do you understand how the hell you sound?
Everything you say is essentially just tearing down woman yourself! Everyone of your suggestions involve "Women shouldn't be like this." Are you just too dense to notice the hypocrisy? You're not doing any good, even if you think your somehow improving everything for women.
Hour glass this, hour glass that! for some reason the word seems to ring with so much contempt when you use it.
Excuse me. You assume that I follow the line of thinking that my detractors here use for themselves. They tell themselves that these characters are real people who made these decisions to play up to sex-toy imagery for men. Whereas, I say these characters are BioWare's toys and they've demonstrated zero compunctions about blatantly exploiting female-characters to gratify dudebro audiences.
When I bring up the hourglass-factor I do it to emphasize how idiotic it is to overvalue that attribute at the cost of shoving women-fighters into stupid catsuits. Jane Shepard, Ashley Williams, and Liara T'Soni demonstrated in ME1 that it is entirely possible to have hourglasses while still being fully-armored and protected. They had hourglasses and definite female curves which was awesome, but those were parts of their appearances, not the ridiculous selling-points from ME2 and now ME3.
This isn't me going "Women shouldn't be like this." This is me going "BioWare is contemptible because they force women to be like this."
The moment you tell yourself that the buck does not stop with these characters, but rather with the cavalier and irresponsible ME devs, you'll get it.
No, I have never seen you once say anything positive about women. One of my last conversations with you involved the words fake lesbians and you kept going on and on about hour glass this and hour glass that. I have never seen you stick your two sense in a thread that actually dealt with feminine issue outside of offering criticism to the portrayal of one woman or another and simply saying it was pandering. Listen, if the female form makes you uncomfortable more power to you, but, stop veiling it in this feminist ****. Or if your really so concerned talk about something else.
Truthfully, I’m not sure I’ve seen you EVER say anything positive about Bioware. You made disparaging comments to Gaider just a few hours ago. Why the hell do you even play these games, you seem to only have contempt for EVERYTHING involved in them, well outside of Kaidan and Alistair.
My, my. It seems I ought to prove I'm a "good person" by saying "nice things." Trouble with that is if I were a gushing fruitbasket-bearer there wouldn't be time for me to voice badly-needed critiques about ME's homophobia and misogyny. But let's try to make you happy. I like how DA2 has many diverse female leaders and leaders-in-training. And knowing me, that doesn't come free. They may have insisted on continuing along with their sad misogynistic gameworld, but at least they handled it very well as opposed to the first time! Oh, oh. Why do I play these games. I like role-playing. There, now.
Ah yes, Gaider. I should amend what I said earlier- "he tries to prove he 'gets it'" should instead become "he tries to pretend he 'gets it'".
I remember the past conversation you're referring to. I was talking about the ways in which BioWare has a habit of exploiting F/F titillation not because they give a crap about actual queer women, but because F/F is a selling point for dudebros. So long as the F/F is formed of lipstick-lesbians that are "ok" for the dudebros. From there I also said that just because you're able to enjoy BioWare's queer female characters (you're very fortunate) doesn't change the fact that BioWare follows a widespread "fake lezzie" exploitation formula akin to Katy Perry's BS. The effects of such lesbian-exploitation is that it traps queerness into tokenism that only disrupts homophobic heterocentrism as little as possible, and it is dictated so by BioWare's interest in pandering to dudebros. Thus, nothing's affirming in your misguided belief that ME has ever reached out to you as a bisexual woman.
I think I know where you're coming from. You feel that any queer female representation can count as good? BioWare's got your back, etc.? I wish that were the case. I really do.
It's interesting that you'd like to think I "hate women" and that because I'm a feminist I "especially hate feminine women." I won't bother dissuading you of the stereotypes about us by wasting time playing defensiely, because I've gotta pin the focus of this disagreement back onto you. "The female form makes [Eromenos] uncomfortable" in your view is an easy solution for you to box me into all because I'm a gay man who has been criticizing the pornified female exploitatioins that you happen to love yourself. In criticizing BioWare's dudebro pandering, it would seem that I would naturally come down on you, too.
Far from it. My criticisms have always been against BioWare's cavalier habit of funneling and thus limiting women into exploitative misogynistic depictions. Specifically the ME universe. That happens when women-characters are forced to be entertainment for dudebros. They lack diversity and this lack of diversity teaches people that all queer females ought to live up to dudebros' fantasies about lipstick-lesbians or else they're "no good." The women-characters are being ridculously compelled to play up to dudebro standards that, at best, allows an actual queer person like you to merely come along for the ride in the backseat.
Oh, I know your response to that. No way. What I had with her was real. And her. And her. And her, too. Like I said, they're not going to stop you from liking it. In fact it benefits them when you as a queer woman play into their BS.
You're so free to keep arguing for the dudebros if you want. You can keep telling yourself that you're doing it for your own sake (hell, even for women in general) all so you can keep telling BioWare to keep feeding you with lipstick-lesbians whom you say to yourself were written with actual queer women in mind. I refer to ME3's catsuit Ashley in the same sense, if you believe that her hyper-femininity is the most important value to place upon her. So far that's what I've been getting. Femininity at all costs, including turning someone like Ashley into a pinup.

Take your discussion of BioWare's presentation of Females in their games to another thread, for it's own. This thread is about just the new appearances.

I can tolerate it if I mute the sound on my TV, throw on some headphones and listen to some smooth jazz. Then it's actually kind of cathartic!
So that's what I'd suggest. If the mining mini game shows up again, instead of hearing the galaxy map music just have it mute out and play some Kenny G.

Wow thats the best discription I've heard of my opinion of the scanning. My first playthrough I remember spending hours and hours mining the galaxy, but when I was done I wasn't really sure how fun I actually had.
Sorry for off topic just had to mention that.

On the subject of mining, I was amused when Casey said he didn't anticipate people strip-mining the entire galaxy, and thus being aggravated with the tedium of it. He's underestimating the ferocity of RPGers when it comes to being completionists.
Which is surprising how he missed it really.
He's been around long enough I would have thought.
However - and this isn't the place for the discussion - BUT I feel the need to say it - A lot of these problems like the mining, hark back to the argument that the player is able to play the game, for lack of a better term, wrong. If there was a limit of probes per planet, if the planets were much smaller, or only had one side. Would there have been such an uproar. Or was there such an issue because people COULD stripmine the galaxy, they felt the need to do it, and thus making it into this long drawn out dullness - I also wonder how many people finished the game completed with a crazy amount of minerals left over - then proceeded to claim they hated the mining.
