I agree, GoW3 looks like it will portray female combatants in a convincing way, its just that many on this forum used to use GoW almost as an insult.

gameplay wise? yeah because we wanted more RPG and less Shooter

but in this department? Both halo and GoW apparently smoke the latest iterations of ME

That's fantastic,  could use some arm and head protection, but it looks great.

The COG (the humans) don't exactly have an ample amount of supplies during Gears of War 3. And they're down on their last numbers seeing how Anya is actually an intelligence officer. I'd guess that she had to gather whatever armor she could from what little they have.

Humanity have seen better days in Gears of War.

I'm not bothered by Ash's appearance - she's definitely tough, but she's always worn a mountain of makeup on her face, so I can't say I'm surprised.

Personally, I think it might be a good idea to sort out Vega's Jersey Shore do and his trash-can-with-limbs physique...

I think they should make him even more douchie,  give him some "Cool guy tips" a nice spray tan and have him walk around on the normandy shirtless with his lips constantly puckered.

It's gonna be really confusing when he starts shouting about grenades and land mines >.<

There's still ana rgument about Ash's outfit going one when the Devs said she'll ALSO have armor and a helmet as well?

I mean Jeez my ex was in the army (and I aint gonna lie, she was a tough chick... could kick my butt) but she STILL could dress cute/sexy whatever when she wanted.
Granted she didnt do it often, and it was kinda of a shocker when she did, but hey if ya got it... no reason not to flaunt it *shrug*

Now if ASh ran around all ME3 in what amounts to a Casual outfit when she's a soldier, yeah i could see that being a problem, but with the way the Devs have said we'll have more squadmate armor/casual customization choices. I dont see what the big deal is. We still got months to go and i'm sure more pics will be dropped soon of her "armor" option

How is her costume the same as Samara's? The only similarity I see is Samara's head piece, which obviously is probably just Asari fashion.

I actualy ponder why Ashley has lighter armor now and Kaidan has this heavy bulk armor. It's silly because it has been always other way around. I wish this outfit is only her "Normandy" outfit. When Miranda got the armor from Costume Pack 2, I bought it and put it on her. Looks a lot better than that catsuit. And I LOVE catsuits on women. I do... but they just don't fit these characters.

Now you guys just need to give Jacob something else than catsuit he wears... Gah...

Maybe she's always wanted to.  She's always worn a horrendous amount of makeup so maybe she's been gagging for an outfit like this?

Haha, yeah who knows? But I always thought of her like a woman who likes the army stuff and has practical sense in her. She is a soldier after all, she doesn't have some biotic field to protect her.

Alright people, come on. Seriously now. Ashley is not that bad.

Nobody complained like this when they revealed Jacob
. He didn't wear a full suit of armor.
Nobody's complaining about Liara. She doesn't have on any more armor than Ashley.
Nobody complained about Thane either. Where was his armor at?

So why Ashley? Her outfit isn't even that bad. It's not like she's dressed like Miranda. She has Mordin-esque shoulder pads on, and it's not like she's wearing a miniskirt. It's part of the top. And people complaining about the thigh-highs? Come on. Would you rather see her wearing regular shoes and having nothing but tight black latex between her heels and her skirt? I doubt that would help preserve her image as a female soldier any more than what she has on now.

And on top of all of that, Casey confirmed that she has an alternate outfit that's a suit of armor and a helmet. If you don't like the "catsuit" then put something else on her. Problem solved.

I can't speak for everyone but I know in the Jacob fan thread we complained about Jacob wearing spandex and not having his Mass Effect Galaxy armor.

Oh she's definitely a tough soldier, but she's always worn a ton of makeup on her face :P  That says something about her girly side, I think.

Honestly, I'd tweet Casey with my vote for seeing armored Ashley, but I also hate Twitter with a passion and very few things could make me get a twitter. This situation isn't one of those things, though.

Can someone tweet my request, say something like "BSN user PureMethodActor requests armored Ash" or something?

PWEEEEEESE

:crying:

lol would be really funny if someone actually did this, but I know obviously its not gonna happen :P

Already Tweeted it for you...:bandit:

AWWWW

*big hug*

Thank you so much! That was very nice :o

Yay, my vote got counted!

I don't really see what's so bad about Ashley's outfit. It's not like it's anywhere near Miranda's level of sexual.

On a side note I don't really think that's a miniskirt she's wearing to be honest. I think it's more like the bottom of her coat or something.

My problem isn't the sexualization,  my problem is Ashley should be wearing heavier armor than Kaidan.

Not an insult to GOW, but an indication that the development crew of ME from ME2 onward were adopting ideas that were clearly established elsewhere without trying to hide it.  Regardless of what people think of him I think Smudboy's recent marketing video works in showing how ideas are used in a blatant manner.

In (I believe) two different video cutscenes, the individuals in the shots presented perform the exact same action despite being from different, unrelated companies.  The kicker to all this borrowing from other franchises is that Bioware shouts innovation about as well as a stereotypical scientist would shout eureka when they find something new.  Problem here is there is no innovation where Bioware is concerned.

I suppose she could be wearing heavy armor. To I me it doesn't really matter, I feel like her new look suits her in some ways, just as heavy armor would suit her in others.

I mean if we're going by what they wore in ME1 then Kaiden shouldn't even have heavy armor but be wearing some kind of light armor.

But like I said, it doesn't really matter to me. They both look pretty cool in my opinion, and Ashley's outfit at least seems a bit more combat capable than Miranda's jump suit thingy which had no pieces of armor at all.

that's the problem..you'd rather have them look cool than look "practical" or "fitting" to the situation

It's just as "practical" for Ash to wear something tighter and more form fitting than Kaiden. She's a soldier right? She doesn't have the luxury of biotic barriers, only guns and CQC. Therefore, to maximize her mobility in the field and weight distribution for weapons, she should wear something like light armor.

Yes, yes indeed he should... and yet he gets shoved into something big and bulky where Ashley is wearing an armored Jacket.  Why is my soldier broken?
