I seriously can't believe that people keep bringing this up. It's like they don't know who they're talking about. Ashley is the same person who quotes the regs on fraternization in Mass Effect. She says "it takes some kind of thick-headed" to enter a profession in which your name is blacklisted. I even think she states that she's career military. A line discussing what she thinks about Asari Commando armor has been stated many times over. It's in Iakus' signature on the previous page for crying out loud.
In ME2, she states that she's an Alliance Marine and that it's in her blood. This is anywhere from half a year to a year before ME3. Considering all that we were told about Ashley are we to reasonably assume that she would disregard practicality just because she received a Spectre position? I believe it was also stated that all attempts at diplomacy have failed by the time a Spectre is called in. What does that mean to you? That she gets to try her feminine wiles on the target?
She's also not wearing armor when she quotes the regs of fraternization in Mass Effect. She's wearing Alliance blues. Which brings us back to the fact that she's a Spectre now and can wear something other than Alliance blues if she wants.
The Reapers launch a surprise attack, that means there's no mission.

There is no such thing as reverse-sexism in our current world. Sexism is only directed against women.
Sexism can be directed at men, women, or genderqueer individuals (especially the latter). It's more commonly directed against women in our society in comparison to men, but that doesn't mean it's only directed at women.
OT: Are we still arguing this? Of course it's sexist to put a woman in a tight leather whatever-it-is while you put men in armor, and of course Bioware puts hilariously sexist stuff in their games. But fortunately, I'm pretty sure the ME team got the feedback on this particular release loud and clear.
Excuse me, but men have a death-grip on institutional powers. Men dominate government, education, media, etc., and even culture(the so-called "feminine womanly" domain) so men's representation is both pervasive and overvalued. i.e., it is men who produce and enforce trends and archetypes of pornified hourglasses for women to measure up to.
I sincerely understand the point you're trying to make. However when males are critiqued for not conforming within their own narrow set of harmful socially-constructed gender-roles(by being gender-queer you could say), such attacks are actually not as oppressive or limiting upon men in the way it is when inflicted against women. The men haven't lost superior social mobility, wealth, safety, respect, power, etc., because men have been wrongfully monopolizing such things against women's best interests. That's a complicated way to examine the ME2 and ME3 situations, but that is what they are. This is actually the "realism" some people insist on, but they certainly don't appreciate it when I couch it in these terms instead of their "some women just choose to look sexy" excuse for BioWare's mishandling of Ashley in this case.

I also that it was ridicules to have jack running around, taking hitting in no armor, but i dont go around telling everybody to thinkless of bioware.
Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm personally not telling anyone what to think. I'm just sharing my own opinion that when it comes to female character designs, Bioware isn't exactly progressive, and that in this particular case with this particular character, this particular clothing design is pretty silly.

Miranda thinks that she's perfect.. and uses her body as part of her arsenal (no pun intended)... she's also a biotic and relies on that for armor more than anything else.
Thane is an assassin where it pays to be fast, quiet, and inconspicuous. Wearing armor compromises all 3 of those things.

Jack plays by her own rules... if she doesn't want to wear normal clothes... you can't expect her to want to wear armor. Besides, she's a biotic and uses that for protection.
The question is why would Bioware, the IRL developer, choose to design a character essentially wearing a belt as a bra when literally anything other than Kevlar pasties would be more mature?

Yeah, he's really inconspicuous stomping into the collector base with a krogan and a fully armored human quick-scoping everything that moves with a Mantis.

It's their artistic license... but it does fit what a psychopath would wear.

Because Miranda was wearing that so she could seduce Harbinger. But either... hey maybe Harbinger wasn't just being annoying to Shepard... but trying to show off to Miranda... see? See!?
lol but yeah, Miranda's very clear that her "looks" were meant to give her an edge and she doesn't hide it for that reason.

The krogan was the one stomping.
If Thane wore armor when he killed that Asari (during the Thane recruitment mission), when he dropped down from the ceiling... it wouldn't have been silent (the sound of him sneaking into position would've included the sound of scraping metal and then finally a clankity boom)..

Biphobia? I'll play. Assuming BioWare does the right thing by finally allowing Kaidan and Ashley to be fully bisexual as they always were, it would not be a retcon of anything in their past. Assuming BioWare continues to do the wrong thing by stuffing Marine Spectre Ashley into a catsuit, it would be a total retcon of her combat-background.
Game on.
I just find the polarity between the two "requests" to be a bit funny. If the s/s arguement is to have chars doing what makes them happy... what's wrong with Ashley sprucing herself up? She looks happy and more confident.
Additionally, her new suit looks a lot more function-driven than the Alliance blues she wore in the original Mass Effect. It's not a retcon for a soldier to not wear armor 24/7... yet alone someone who's ascended beyond one.
What you're proposing is that "being a fully bisexual person" and "choosing to wear a catsuit" are both frivolous yet "valid" types of freedom of expression.
Highly disagree. BioWare forcing Ashley to wear a non-funcitional catsuit for fights is only a manifestation of dudebros' games using women as their toys. But BioWare forcing the VS to be deeply in love with a same-sex old friend is in-character and it plays up to neglected queer gamers. Why not? VS was forced to be deeply in love with opposite-sex old friend too.
So long as you keep the "some women just choose to be sexy" excuse for BioWare, you will keep telling yourself it's all about her self-determined gratification as though her Spectre status changed her into a vixen who is busting-out in a way the dudebros can appreciate. You will not be able to confront BioWare's hand in tokenizing her as the only Spectre inexplicably dumb enough to charge in with loose hair, high-heels, and a catsuit.
You seem to think Ashley was a virgin before Shepard. That Shepard changed Ashley and made her into a "real woman who cares most what dudebros think of the way she looks while she's running and gunning?" Please.
Lol, please indeed... my mind wasn't in the gutter when I wrote that. I wasn't taking it anywhere near that far. She cares about Shepard and is getting to see him again (after he'd been 'dead' for 2 years). If you romanced her, she loves him (may love him regardless) and sent him a letter saying how she couldn't lose him "a second time" etc.(complete with more poetry) ...she's within right to make herself look nicer than a soldier given the occasion. Also keep in mind that she's a Spectre now... so she's within additional rights to distinguish herself.
Ashley does have more operational latitude now, but there is nothing that can justify the claim that she would undermine herself at her job just to be a dudebro fantasy. I've noticed this claim tends to avoid considering she might still be an Alliance Marine as well as being a Spectre. Just like Shepard was. In which case, that is another reason she's not going to change from hardsuit to catsuit.
"Make herself look nicer"? I think you mean "make herself look more like a fool" instead of the Ashley that Shepard actually appreciated. I, of course, mean "BioWare is responsible for making her look like a fool." Not sure how you're able to reason out excuses that allow BioWare to dumb her down just because she possibly landed the hero of the galaxy.
Shepard and Anderson were not ensconed inside a military-grade Alliance warship when the Reapers arrived. Ashley Williams was. Regardless of what Shepard and Anderson were up to, Ashley undoubtedly would've had instant-access to what she needed. If BioWare wanted to risk turning off their dudebros, I mean.
Those other two were in a courtroom. She was probably in the Normandy's armory. Which of these 3 would've had the best available gear on-hand in the shortest amount of time?
Shepard and Anderson ran to a damaged/destroyed ship to request the Normandy's pickup. Can't really put Ashley at fault for happening to be at the Normandy instead. We don't know how long it took her to get there either... And in the middle of an all-out invasion, taking time to get dressed in a suit of armor could be done... but not everyone would put the lives of their friends (Shepard and Anderson) on the line by taking precious time out to do that (because Shepard and Anderson aren't wearing armor either and are in more danger from enemies on the ground).
"We don't know how long it took her to get there either..." She was already onboard the thing when it reached them. And yes, we do know how long. Witness the E3 demo. Judging by how long the Reapers had already been setting up shop, the general alarm on Earth would've been blaring already, far in excess of the time it would take for a well-practiced Marine like Ashley to suit up.

Is Shepard wearing armor at that time as well? Is Kaidan? Is Liara? Was Jenkins or Kaidan wearing armor before they landed on Eden Prime? During the debriefings were Kaidan, Ashley, Shepard, or Liara wearing armor? I honestly don't know what your point is.
Again, saying that she'll wear something different from what she already says she prefers - knowing full well the reasons why she prefers it - just because she became a Spectre is incredibly silly. Armor has served her well for years before Shepard met her and it served her well after Shepard died. Yes, I know it didn't work on Horizon...Collector sting beetles move slower than slugs therefore kinetic barriers won't operate.
