I know, Javier, that you wanted a clean slate to avoid heated discussion, but I wanted to quote and respond to one post quoted at me because I find it highly relevant to people's reactions in regards to Ashley.

I
just want to say that the earlier statements of making/replaying ME1
playthroughs and killing Ash just because of the outfit are a little
immature. One reasonably wouldn't do that just because of an outfit.
Now, if Ash's PERSONALITY is changed way too significantly, even as an
Ash-lover, I can see that level of rage being reasonable.
I
disagree. We have the right to criticize ME devs because they single
out female characters for exploitation which IRL would be a
death-sentence against women in combat situations.
Samara's
voice-acting and personality were agreeable for me. But I look upon
BioWare with contempt anyway because they insisted on making her visual
appearance a sexist joke. Same with Miranda.
My response: @Eromenos-
I actually agree with you on your points, and I am all for actual practical combat armor and character consistency if you look at my posts on the first thread. Its because of that which I'm assuming you missed my point.
My point is that many people complaining about Ash's lack of armor went so far as to say "OMG WTF ASH HAS NO ARMOR THATS IT I'MMA KILL HER OFF ON ALL ME1 PLAYTHROUGHS HFU9RYR39QUIRNU9GH392!!!!!!"
You don't think THAT's not going too far? I don't like the lack of armor, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop staying loyal to Ash. I'm willing to ENDURE the bad uniform choice so long as Ash is still the tough, principled woman Ashaholics have come to know and love. If her personality changes drastically to become nothing more than a sexed-up damsel in distress, then I would say the extreme reaction I parodied is somewhat justified, but of course then I would just encourage people I know to play ME1 and forget that the other 2 existed, much like the Pirates movies after Curse of the Black Pearl
All that said, completely on topic now, I do find the screencaps of Casey's tweets to be more reassuring.
EDIT: forgot to say this:
whatever happens with costuming and whatnot...
Ash is worth it.
I'm not one of the people who were screaming about killing off Ashley just to prove a point to BioWare over this. I don't hold it against those folks because I understand their anger, but I'm not taking that route personally.
The fact that I often do sacrifice Ashley is not a knock against her. 'tis only because I can't bear to lose Kaidan when I play MShepard.
Oh, I'm already way ahead of you as far as disregarding the "canon" of ME2.

Kaidan looks good.
Ashley...I have no issue with the outfit itself. if it was on Miranda I would think it was good. But this is not Miranda, this is Ashley and they choose to represent with that? I don't want this turning into another game with the' girls have to be in light armour' bs. The tweets are a little reassuring but until we see proof of this “armour” I’m not sure this isn’t just PR. But this has been discussed to death already.
Vega actually looks allot like a guy I know only more buff so every time I look at him it makes me laugh.
Liara looks much better in white and without the thing on her head. She looks too much like Samara in this. I know they are just using her LotSB armour but I don’t see why they have to scrap that after one DLC.
I wonder whether the symbols on Kaidan, Ashley and Vega are meant to mean anything. I have no idea what kaidan’s is, Ashley has a birds and Vega has...a guy jousting on what looks like a turtle crossed with a horse? Yeah I have no idea.
Weapons are ok I guess. Nothing about that really makes me exited.

Benezia not being a squadmate has nothing to do with this discussion, at least as far as I understand it. I'm talking about their chest exposure.
As to heels, that debate should also factor in that human animation skeletons were near identical if not completely, in ME1, and in ME2, they went with individual models for all squadmates, and a great many other characters as well.
Ah you see though that can be explained away very easily.
Benezia was on Noveria on a minor errand really; something that was relatively small. She wasnt expecting to encounter resistance, other than the rachni, and she had a small army with her presumably to stand between her and any hostiles.
Hence the waves of hostiles during the battle.
And notice she doesnt run around, she more or less fortresses herself up next to he rachni queen while her minions deal with you.
Her outfit IS impractical; but she wasnt expecting a serious battle at that point.
Effectively you got the drop on her.
While we did get the drop on her, it's not clear why she'd be showing off her cleavage on Noveria in the first place. It still leads us to the same problem, especially since Matriarchs are said to be past that sex-crazed phase of their life.

What if all NPC'S had a Armor thing like Shepard's.
When they go to their locker it would have the available clothing/armor that the character could wear and you could customize color, texture, and pattern of the outfit. If you wear light, medium or heavy armor it would show you your choices.
When you shopping it would be added to your wardrobe closet. Shepard would select who gets what.

She is in her exact LotSB outfit in all the ME3 videos where she makes an apparance so far. This is just an alternate coloration of that.

The Asari were obviously specifically designed as a sexual fantasy. I mean, has that always be completely clear?
But Bioware would never objectify a female character or write canon around sexual fantasies!

Lorik Q'uin and Liara actually make a mention about how her appearance sent the young males waggling their tongues or something and having fantasies about asari. I wouldn't be surprised of Benezia played on these factors.
This may give you an edge over young males in a corporate environment. On the battlefield however, I'd go with some decent armour.
Just something to think about...

Kaidens armor is cool.
Ashley looks great in her jacket. (I would edit the OP to state its a jacket otherwise peopel will keep comlaing thinking its a skirt)
James looks different, and big. Like the bulky armor.
I do hope that each companion has a couple of different armor choices that you can select, kinda like Shep in ME2. Would add a nice bit of customization imo.

Yeah, doesn't she know that asari men are totally going to stare at her chest?
See what I did there? You can't apply human cultural norms onto asari. They're a different species. A species that doesn't have males. All asari have boobies. There's no mystery. They might sexualize them to some extent, who knows, but I have a feeling that until humans arrived on the scene, asari never thought twice about exposing tons of cleavage. What, the salarians were going to drool over asari boobies? Do their women even HAVE breasts?

@javier, my shepard nominates you to be on the Council.
@Angelic...bravo
As far as the pic...this is a really bad rough draft, driver's license quality pic.
And heels? Didn't you know that heels were a new melee weapon? when all else fails, whip off those heels and suddenly you've got 2 claymores...Ha!
Ash: "What? I'm outta thermal clips! That's alright, I've got my high heels!" Whap, right to the optics...

Because to clear all doubt in someone like yours mind he would have to write an essay on twitter explaining every intricate detail.

@Eromenos, for God's sake will you please stop being so annoying. Yeah yeah we get it, you're the paladin of "the women's movement". Now can we please talk about Mass Effect 3 for a while (Preferably about something other than Ashley's looks because we talked about that A LOT in the previous thread)
None of what I've said is for me. Unlike a certain show-boating DA writer who tries to prove he "gets it" everytime he toots his own horn...
I'm not a woman, so I'm not the type of person who is most adversely affected when misogynistic exploitation is continually normalized in mainstream fare such as this. Yet such is in my face all the time, so I'm going to address it.
Regarding the ME3 males in the picture...it's good to hear that Vega's appearance is not final. He can stand to be a convincing newbie without needing the face of an anvil to oversell the part.
As for Liara, they should do away with trying to justify the ME2 "armor headband." And aim to recolor her outfit so that it doesn't try to riduculously emphasize her femininity. We can appreciate her curves just fine with the way her white labcoat is done. Tasteful. This red-version is not.
Of course, I say this under the assumption that ME3 will not deign to "lower" its males in equal degrees of exploitation that we've seen done to the women in this picture.
