I can understand both sides of the debate , especially why ppl want Ash in armor proper armor that is , ME1 was about realism , different planets that you landed on had different hazards which required different protection , so we had different suits for protection , ME2 there was none what so ever , they took the star wars route where as Han and Liea had just breathers on in. Empire strike back ala the asteroid monster scene , that realism and info on equipment to use on missions was great, trying gather the most rarest of armors or even just

Exactly

The change from ME1 to ME2 made it look like not just two different games, but two different IPs.  So now I have to wonder about the characters who were squaddies in ME1 and not ME2, what will be done with their appearances?

We have been shown the armor of nearly every ME1 squadie and the DLC armor for three of them. From what have been shown and told all of them will be given armor. Not sure about Tali but she may wear some armored plates on her suit.

I have hope and truly believe the BW folks know all our gripes and likes about the games and just maybe ME3 will be a cross blend of what was great about both games . . . The rpg elements and realism from ME1 and the action and speed from ME2 . . .

Pfft. Where's the outrage over Vega's fauxhawk? That's probably the most egregious design concept of any of these characters.

How dare they gave Vega a fauxhawk! I AM GOING TO COMPAIN ABOUT THIS!

And I thought armor wouldn't be much use, considering Geth weaponry can burn through them like butter (or any weapon in ME universe in that matter) without the shields. <_< Hell the Geth shotgun can tear through the shields too. *favorite shotgun* :innocent:

Dont know if its already been said but ME is sci-fi/fantasy.LIke dragon age, practicality of the armor was never the main concern,i mean how would a robe protect you from a sword slash.ME had a more realistic approach but it was all done so that it would create certain atmosphere and feel.the problem was that most of the armors felt generic. There must have been only about 4 armor models in the whole game.In ME2 they wanted to give the player and the companions a more unique look,so they gave shepard a kick-ass armor he could customise however he wished and the companions got their unique armors.Since there isnt much you can design that would offer much protection they sacrifised protection for looks and individuality and personaly im happy they did. Also it has been said that even thin layer armors (mirandas' armor) offer about the same protection due to technological advancements

I noticed that a few people have said that the alternate costume makes Liara look like Samara...did not take the time to read through all the pages so if this has been daid or asked forgive me...do you think that this is a sign that Liara has begun similar to Samara in some way; same stage of life? or perhaps even a justicar?

I remember the days on the old ME1 forums where a bunch of people would complain about Ash's ridiculous pink armour and how it serves no other purpose then "Look at me I'm a girl!"

If only then we could see what she'd be turned into...

But anyways this wasn't a major issue in ME1 as you could choose your companion's armour.

that would certainly be interesting, but she's only what, 106 years old, and asari live for up to 1000 years? So it seems unlikely (I can't remember the age samara told me, if she even told me, she was when she became a justicar), but who knows, what with all of the shadow broker stuff going on...

Honestly I gotta say though. I find that casual outfit to be a lot nicer than the pink/white armor she normally sports.

That thing is just...awful

I don't think , ppl mind the individual non armor outfits , at least I didn't , it was just bizarre to have someone like Jack land on a planet with hazardous gases or hostile elements or extreme heat or cold with no protection at all, you just get aggravated when they give you a source like the codex which explains why the need for armor or kintec barriers and you have Jack semi naked and Shep fully geared up, ok maybe the kinetic barriers are protecting them so there is no need for armor or protection against hazardous gases or such , so why not explain that just for clarification , the codex explains other things , I just think that on hazard planets they could have at the very least gave the squads the cool breather helment that Joker had on during the destruction of the SR1.
I know in real life not all officers are geared up like swat , u have detectives in suits or street gear and swat in hvy armor and so on , and the specialist of ME2 were a rag time group of renegades and not military, but the hazardous planets and such with no added protection just bothered ppl , had protective suits not been introduced in ME1 , I don't think many would have complained , about it in ME2, IMHO
Don't think I bashing the games or the series I loved both games and have played them both so many times I lost count , its just hard to grasp when your introduced to one thing and the next its like it didn't existed

And with that logic, it's an issue in ME3, how?

Considering that for more than one outfits to exist, you would be able to choose your companion's armour.

You kind of copied my signiture name AND mocked my favorite female in the series.

You are now my sworn enemy!

As it stands though, my views on her appearance are much the same as they were before. I'm dissapointed that they changed her looks but I like her enough that I'll be able to cope with it.

I don't find Shepards armour in ME2 all that kickass, I'd rather I had the option not to dress my player like a tank since I mostly play classes like the Adept, Sentinel and Engineeer for whom it doesn't make much sense to lug around all that extra bulk for a minimal amount of extra protection, especially since in the more realistic ME1 I apparently needed less armour to get around and be fully protected.
So yeah, I've got absolutely no problem with impractical or overly stylish combat outfits in video games, but please don't force me to be the only one dressed like a tank when all my sqauddies wear something stylish and are no less effective in combat for it.

I can't remember the exact details of what you can learn about the Asari, but I think that I remember them talking about at least 3 stages; Maiden, Matron, and Matriarch.  Perhaps the Samara and Liara are both in the "Matron" stage - I don't remember there being any specifics/details about the stages.  But maybe the raised "tatoos" are a sign of that stage?
