nice troll attempt Apple.

Casey responded on Twitter that Ashley will be able to wear real armor with a toggleble helmet. Whether or not that is during every fight or just during scripted events is the only variable.

Where have I heard something like this again.........

"Higher selection of weapons"

BULL to the ****

Still ironic that the Ardat Yakshi wears more modest clothing options then Samara. You know, the creature that bangs you to death!!!!! The one that "Needs This." The monster that causes orgasmic death a la stealing a soul.

Bioware will design whatever Bioware wants. Not to please a certain demographic, not because they're misogynistic turds (surprise! There are women in the gaming industry), not because of any obscure symbolism or to make a political point, but because it's their art. If they want Ashley in a catsuit, then they can and will do that, and I see no problems with that--especially since ashley's current designers are the same as her original designers. If you think you can complete the progression of a character better than the character's designer, please apply for a job at Bioware. Until then, they are not obligated to listen to anyone.

Except they actually do, because they want their fans to buy and enjoy their art. And even though these early designs ARE NOT FINAL, and Casey has said multiple times ASHLEY WILL GET FULL ARMOR AND A HELMET, that statement is apparently too "sybilline" for some people.

Stop acting entitled and stop complaining.

stop beaing naive, get off your soap box, stop "shouting"

you are merely being the equivalent of exteremely annoying white noise. If you want to make a point make it through providing FACTS and not what you believe is going to happen because you happen to interpret Bioware's words that way

She realizes that one doesn't have to show skin to be sexy when you have the eyes of a goddess.

I like her hair like this. Her face looks too different. Yeah, she has make up -- that looks good. But I swear to god they changed her eyes and the way they look. Maybe its her lips... I don't know. But I do NOT like her look right now. She seems like a totally different person with an entirely different demeanor.

I want an opinion of a ME fangirl.

Is it really that bad, girls? O_o

On a sidenote, Ash looks a lot cuter with a bun. Just saying. ;D

Honestly, in regards to Benezia I thought Bioware were somewhat paying homage to her VA. Could have been a bit more tactful, but if she saw the image and didn't mind then who am I to say anything?

In any case, Benezia never fought outside in space. We never saw her in a place devoid of air or in an area with a hazardous environment that would cause physical damage to one's skin.

Well done, Javier. Although some people seemed to have missed Casey's tweet at the beginning of the OP . . . . . .

I don't understand why giving feedback during a design process is ever a bad thing. I work in the design/advertising industry, and I always solicit feedback from others during the process. Waiting until the end to get others' opinions doesn't do anything but make more work for me to do.

BioWare is smart to leak images like these, to "test the waters" and find out how people are receiving the overall visual direction. It's clear that they've hit one out of the park (Kaidan), caused a lot of worry about character continuity for Ashley (maybe needlessly if this is not a combat outfit), and created a double facepalm with James Vega and Liara. But they've got several months to make some tweaks. I'm sure they now know that the fanbase, even the males, want Ashley to prioritize combat readiness over sex appeal, and they now know that James Vega's current character design has been met with a collective , and that we're astute enough to pick up on Liara's costume's "inspiration". For Liara, I just say ditch the tiara and call it done. The rest of the costume is alright.

And, in case no one else has mentioned it yet, ENOUGH WITH THE EYEPIECES. At least make them toggle-able if you're going to foist them onto us. I never used Thane's, Jack's, Grunt's or Tali's AAs, because of the ugly eyepiece thingies. Even Miranda's got annoying. The eyepiece is not the window to the soul.

If i hear one more god damn argument trying to justify bar maid dresses for a spectre in the middle of a god damn reaper invasion, you'd better have your 3D glasses ready because i'll come at you like a god damn train.

...you don't get it.

It's bioware's game. Not yours. It's bioware's character, not yours. They've even confirmed in several ways that Ashley will have armor. And you're putting your fingers in your ears and singing, instead of...excuse me..."getting off of your own soapbox."

Do you think you can design Ashley better than her creators?

She is upset because everyone is complaining about her outfit.  I personally think it looks great.  But who am I?

I also wonder... What if she was not holding the rifle in the original picture and it was just her standing (like Kaidan's or Vega's pose) if some people would still be up in arms?

In the opinion of this ME fangirl, it is not good.

I would be totally cool with that outfit on Miranda (although she should still lose the heels...honestly, those things are not conducive to intense fighting). However, it is not cool on Ashley.

Really, that whole picture just screams "gender stereotypes" to me - men are macho (Vega) and women are pretty (Ashley). I literally facepalmed when I saw it.

Edit: I will say that I am fine with Ashley having an outfit like that on the Normandy or just going out or something. However, in combat? No.

And asari have their OWN cultural norms, that may or may not conform to humanity's. I imagine young asari see lots of exposed cleavage as "old fashioned", since it's mainly older asari that we see showing off the melons. Morinth is wearing an asari commando jumpsuit, which to me says she wants to look 'badass' more than anything else. And badass is sexy in a place like Omega. She even remarks that her mother's outfit is rather ridiculous by her standards, and Morinth is technically in her Matron years, even if she still acts like a Maidan (probably a side effect of Ardat-Yakshi Syndrome).

As for Liara, they should do away with trying to justify the ME2 "armor headband." And aim to recolor her outfit so that it doesn't try to riduculously emphasize her femininity. We can appreciate her curves just fine with the way her white labcoat is done. Tasteful. This red-version is not.

Okay, how exactly does the color scheme of Liara's armor suddenly make it exploitive?

Fair question!

The way her white labcoat is presented does not oversell the fact that she's female with an hourglass figure. The way her red labcoat's coloring is arranged is done precisely to emphasize that she's an hourglass who may or may not use guns.

With the way the colors are arrayed on her in this picture, do we ever see male combat outfits being depicted in this way that emphasizes the sexuality of their bodies above all else? Nope. So why should female characters alone be targeted for this thankless responsibility that thus far segregates them into titillation-toys?

It's not a coincidence that folks are complaining that she resembles Samara's misogynistic appearance in a bad way. They might have made excuses in their heads for Samara, but seeing Liara forced into something similar has triggered their rejection of this concept, at least while on Liara.

While I am grateful that Liara's labcoat looks like it offers protection in a way that Ashley's catsuit does not, I still condemn BioWare for insisting on female exploitation in Liara's red-labcoat for the dudebros, even while BioWare refuses to antagonize the dudebros with any potential male-exploitation.

Agreed. Feedback is great. :) Just not continuous and unreasonably negative feedback, even when statements fixing the issues have been made by the designers.

Sibilla was an oracle during the roman empire (well, many oracles took the name of The Sibilla)

Sibilla would give predictions that were interpretable in VERY different ways hence the word came to be "sibillina" or in english "sybilline" when you want to describe a sentence that can be interpreted in different ways

I am not preaching (like you)

I am offering precedents and an analitical thought on Casey's sentence

you on the other hand are offering blind faith and a lovely "it is their product they can do what they want" defense
