I have the art book by the way and they've got some real quality artists over there at Bioware, I meant no slight to their work. Personally I would have gone with the giant huskified human fetus, since it's about as unnerving, grotesque, insulting, and generally offensive on every single level that I can think of. It really drives home the idea of the Reapers wanting to hijack our species--I suppose there probably could have been quite an outrage if they'd actually used that one, though.GunMoth wrote...

Of course they could; that doesn't make it a good idea. Look at the damned Space Terminator at the end of ME2 for example.
The concept art of the "finished" human reaper wasn't that bad. Skeleton terminator made WAYYY more sense after I saw it.

I suppose that's true. I think the overall idea of throwing the skeletal structure in there was a bit over the top.
No I agree. I simply meant the stigma/symbology that's attached to skeletons, especially metal ones. Skeletons immediately make me think of cheesy halloween decorations, or episodes of Scooby Doo. People draw from their experiences in order to create art. Unfortunately audiences also draw from their experiences to interpret it.
The only videogame I've ever seen that implimented the use of skulls/skeletons elegantly was Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. http://www.popanime....0/0b/Fiend3.jpg
I think a fetus would have been difficult to really explain the developmental process. They're basically building a ship. So even though the reaper was still a "fetus" it really just meant they were working on the basic structure. Since its synthetic kindof. etc. etc.
