without armour I think garrus could take shep, those claws and teeth, and hardened skin give garrus an edge, turians have been known to slice open humans when they're just trying to restrain them.

You have got to be kidding me, Shepard could kick anyone's ass.

Kai Leng was an N7 operative just like Shepard and killed a Krogan in hand to hand and considering Shepard is one of the best N7 operatives and became a Spectre, I bet Shepard would have no problem taking down most people, pre Mass Effect 2 Cyborg upgrades.

Now post Lazarus project Soldier Shepard, could definitely devastate any opponent, he has extensive Cybernetic upgrades, that substantially increase his strength, stamina, speed and overall toughness. On top of that you can research additional upgrades that make Shepard nearly as tough as Grunt, (you know, the genetically engineered super Krogan), also you can research an upgrade that reduces melee damage to Shepard bye 50% and another one that increases his melee damage bye 25% making Shepard one hell of a hard hitter.

Also Hardened Adrenaline Burst reduces damage dealt to Shepard bye 50% and increases his reaction time to an incredible level. And before you say that Adrenaline burst doesn't count, just remember that its effects are a direct result of Shepards Cybernetic implants.

And lets not forget that Shepard beat the crap out of a Yahg like it was a little ****.
So Imo Soldier Shepard could take on anyone in hand to hand and come out on top, the only people that would give Shepard trouble are probably Grunt or Wrex and I bet Shepard would still win.

i'd love to know where people pick up total BS like this as fact - nowhere is it ever stated that aria is even exceptional, apart from her own hints and taking down one krogan (which btw a mere human security agent did by hand in one of the cerberus daily news updates - does that mean that guy could kick shepard's arse, too?).

An actual Yagh instead of that bookworm teenager Shepard fought in LotSB could prove a hell of an opponent. That thing's reaction time was painfully slow. Shepard basically beat it up with zero reprisal.

As far as squad-mates go, I guess only Thane has a chance, and that's only if he's quick enough to stay consistently ahead in a straight fight. Neck snaps are good and all, but try snapping that post-upgrade neck Shepard's got.

Both possible in ME3.

Zaeed is a tough SoB but Shepard is at a completely different level.  That said Zaeed is probably impossible to kill.  I bet in the bad ending of ME 3 Zaeed somehow survives the galaxy getting reaped.

Shepard headbutted a krogan, and it was a very powerful headbutt because the krogan took a few steps back because of the impact.

an seriously who was the idiot who invented the idea that shepard beated up the shadow broker in a hand to hand fight? he gave him some punches to break his armor. The shadowbroker coulnd't hit back because he had the gun and the shield in his hands... and I have to shot a lot of bullets in him to beat him maybe you had some bug or something^^ ... and if liara wasn't there and have the idea Shepard would kissed the floor...
