I've just completed an install of NWN2, MotB, and SoZ from retail disc (NWN2 Gold and the SoZ Expansion Pack) onto Windows 7. I didn't see the errors you have. Maybe the Direct 2 Drive version is different? The SoZ setup.exe on disc looks like this:
File description: setup.exe
File version 10.1.0.238
Product name: InstallShield ®
Product version: 10.01
Copyright: Copyright © 2004 InstallShield Software
Size: 114 KB
Date modified: 7/16/2004 3:09 AM
Language: English (United States)
Original filename: Setup.exe
Do you have any other software installed that could be interfering like a virus checker? If so, try disabling those.
Did you try installing it from Steam?
Regards

No other software that I am aware of.
No I didn't, as I have approximately $-1,500 in my bank account.

Googling for the error message you are getting turned up the same problem reported with other games downloaded from Direct2Drive. In this thread the user resolved the problem by using the Direct2Drive download manager instead of downloading with Firefox. If that isn't material in this case or re-downloading doesn't resolve the problem I think you should contact D2D support and complain to them. If they cannot resolve it then save some nickels and buy it on Steam.

On a side note, the game does not claim anywhere that it will run on Win7. No suprise. We're all lucky if we get it running at all!
Personally, I had only one snag getting it to run on a Vista32 Ultuimate setup, but considerably more probs before it was happy on a Win7_64 setup.
