As far as xbox, content is available offline for any acct, on the exact xbox it was downloaded on. If you change physical xboxes (as I do a lot) the acct that dl'ed it has to be signed in.(Does not need to be playing) I realise the necessity for this, but it is rather annoying as I travel a lot. You can, once a yr, transfer licenses to a new xbox, but I once had three in a year, and had to suffer with no access to all my dls

The orgin system is only set up for pc owners.
The ONLY version of the game that is Orgin exclusive is the digital deluxe version.
And given the fact that you dont get anything extra with the dde and no price break...its no where near as attractive as the physical CE.

I've used orgin a lot myself.I bought DA:O,DA:A and ME2 from steam, and DA2 from D2D.I was able to install the games by those providers and then add my keys to my orgin account to give me a second way to download the games.Orgin dosent have to be running to play games through your orgin account.

My plan is to buy a copy of the physical ce,get all the goodies that way and then input my key to orgin and have it all digitally as well.

As it stands today,Is there a reason to worry about the me3 dde now? No.No extras,no price break no point.
The only point I could see the dde being viable is after the price goes down post release.

Thought I would answer your topic here ;) from what I saw of your topic you want to know if the DDE version is getting extras over the retail CE version right ?  Well I don't work for Bioware but from everything I have read the DDE version is exactly the same as the retail CE version.

The DDE version is basically the retail collectors edition only minus the physical items that you get with the collectors edition.  The exclusivity you are talking about refers to the availability of the DDE this will only be available via Origin you will not be able to download the DDE version from any other service.  You can however buy the Collectors Edition from several retailers and it will have the same content as the DDE version.

Whether we will be forced to use Origin with the retail version still remains an unanswered question.  At the moment Origin is little more than a download program but EA has indicated they want to expand Origin to do more.  Whether this means ME 3 will have to have Origin installed to run is anyone's guess.

But arn't the whole point about Digital Distribution that the price won't go down as much as hard-copies? Or am I missing something :P

thank you that clears jsut about everything up. Now i'm just hoping the Retail Copies won't Pull a TS 2(or any other valve game i can think of off the top of my head) and Force the use of Origins. I need to check steam for BF 3 limited edition pre-orders or i'll be cancelling my Pre-order for that until i know what they are planning on doing with Origins for the moment

It seems that some of the individuals posting on that page have reading comprehension problems. They think that the digital deluxe version contains items that are not available in the retail boxed collector's edition which is not the case.

Reading really is fundamental.

My question is: assuming the bonus weapons and so on are not on the game disk but must be downloaded, can I download them from the Bioware Social Network (like for Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age 1 & 2 DLC) or do I have to download it from Origins. I apologize for having reading comprehension problems :-)

I'm guessing all the bonus content will be delivered through Origin.  And don't worry about the reading comprehension problem; my understanding is that it'll clear up in a day or two ;-)

Personally, I pre-ordered a physical copy of the CE from Amazon.

Over the whole Origin system, I am somewhat conflicted as there are pros and cons with the system.

Pros:
-Competition is (usually) good. Steam has 50%-70% of the market share for digitally distributed games. This makes the industry very concentrated, even more so than the oil and defense industries, thus Steam has a lot of power. Although Valve is a very fair company and gives the developers 70% of the purchase price versus the 30% they receive from retail, it is possible Steam could abuse its position in the future. Plus, heavy competition can lead to new innovations.
-More money will go to BioWare/EA which may then be used to fund more ME games and DLC.

Cons:
-Unproven system: although not everyone loves Steam, it has been around for years and most of the kinks are worked out.
-Retired games: when you buy a game, you expect to be able to use it for as long as you like. Well with Origin, when a game is retired you no longer have access to it.
-Keeping the bad stuff: it looks like Origin will be keeping some of the flaws from Steam like regional pricing, DRM, and possibly requiring an internet connection to activate the game or even worse-requiring a constant internet connection even for single-player.
-Possibility for abuse: let's be honest, EA does not have the most stellar track record and I wouldn't be surprised if they used some unsavory and anti-competitive practices if Origin became successful and gobbled up a large market share.
-Sets a bad precedent: if Origin is successful, other distributors may set up their own system and before you know it, you have 20 digital distribution systems installed and running on your computer.
-Lost sales: the whole thing may backfire and ME3 could lose a lot of sales to piracy which may endanger the future of ME franchise.

Origin doesn't work like steam, with steam all your games are launched by the program. With Origin as it is right now you can bypass the whole aplication and launch the game just like you always did - from your shortcut. It's absolutely optional to use even if you have it installed. You can even have Origin running in tray but not using it to run your game, as long as you are not launching anything from Origin level it's interface can't show up inside your game.

It is however possible that they change it to work like steam does where you need to have the aplication running in background to launch your games.

@ Mr. Kusy

Thank you for the information. Now it doesn't seem bad, hell it sound like it works better than Steam.

Personally Origin/Steam whatever doesn't matter to me. Only thing i Dislike about Steam is i have to be signed in to the dang thing to play. I hate that.

If Origin isn't intrusive and allows me to launch from a shortcut without it running in the background, cool.

Either way i'm not gonna let my purchase of a game be foiled by whether i like the companies Online store or not regardless. Besides... since i've bought stuff from the EA store before, technically i've already dealt with Origin right?

Origin is kind of a deal-breaker for me. I don't care and never have cared about special editions of games with downloadable doodads (those are just an anti-piracy measure anyway) so I'm not worried about that. My worry is whether the retail PC version will install Origin and if Origin will be required just to run the game. If so, that's a deal-breaker and I won't be buying the game. I don't own a 360 or a PS3 so I won't be buying a console just for ME3, either.

I love the Mass Effect games (the books and comics aren't bad, either) and ME2 is literally the only PC game for which I have ever bought DLC -- that's how much I loved it. I'm willing to skip out on ME3 if Origins is required for the retail version.

If you don't mind me asking...whats the big deal? Isn't just essentially a launcher?

Well to me, after reading reading the EULA for Origin, it is packed with all sorts of spyware features that I flatly do not want on my machine. Others may not have a problem with that; but I for one do. And, I may be miss-understanding what I've read; but I really don't belive that I am.

Here's an idea. Once it's downloaded and installed copy/paste the executable shortcut on your desktop. Problem solved. No third party bs when you enjoy your game.
