I've always assumed that the meld was required to be consentual,  you really can't force a person to open your mind up to them.  Hell maybe sexual arousal is the key to opening up to an asari Meld.  You WANT to think you / your shepard is special and She plays to that particular notion.  As for safety,  perhaps she assumes she is safe on the ship and doesn't care about the squad.

So Shepard isn't special? That's something new. Come on, don't make her look dumb. She's a smart person. And a smart person wouldn't go on a SUICIDE mission just to seduce someone they really want to seduce, it has to be more than just that.

I guess your right,  she loves you and thinks that somehow out of all the people she killed you'll somehow survive the process of getting your synapses fried.  She goes on the suicide mission,  sure,  but the girl is probably so full of herself she thinks she'll be fine.

and have you seen that big smile on her face as Shepard burns out.  That's friendship and affection right there.

A nice way to improve her is to keep her dead.

Ahh, but I do know what I'm talking about. Go rewatch that scene, she smiles BEFORE you die, that could actually be the turning point for my logic if it was after. Then again EVEN if she smiled afterwards, she just had sex, what did you expect?)

I think your getting played man,  I'm sorry.  I'm not going to convince you and your not going to convince me.  Morinth fully intends to nom nom nom you into oblivion,  but, you can play into her wounded woman shtick if you want.

I just had sex

And it felt so good (felt so good)

A sucker let me burn his brain out (out)

I just had sex (Hey!)

And I'll never go back (never go back)

To the not-killing-Shep

Ways of the past

Have you ever had sex?

I have, it felt great

It felt so good when I did it with my biotics

A ****** let me do it

It literally just happened

Having sex could make a dead man out' the livest

Best 30 seconds of her life, man.

Yep some of you guys will probably never get convinced. Let's just hope they give more character to Morinth in ME3, THEN we will see who was right. I stay by my logic that it is completely irrational for her to fry my Shepard, it's not worth her life that she was clinging to for so long trying to survive.

Morinth is brilliant as a character and as a villain - she's just awful as a person. I imagine she gets low votes in the popularity polls because most people never recruit her.

I will say, one thing that always makes me giggle about Morinth is while she's posing as her mother, sometimes in combat she'll shout something like "Fear the power of the Ardat Yakshi!" and Shep will be left thinking "Why are you blowing your own cover..." :P

Na, cause Samara is a hardened Justicar righting the wrongs she's created. Morinth is one of them.

That is so silly actually. I agree with those that said Morinth need to be herself more. If I would have an option in the game I would tell her to throw out Samara's clothes and be herself, I don't care what other party members would say, and they would probably say nothing, because they respect Shepard and because they are mostly villians, assasins and what not.

Samara's no prize either,  though,  they are both interesting...  neither of them are good people.

I like Morinth as a character, really, but I never recruit her because she's a serial killer that liquefies people's brains just for the fun of it. I would have loved it if Samara vs. Morinth conflict was left more gray, but as it is my Shepards just never cross that line... Maybe I'll be able to pull it off with my lost-her-identity-and-turned-renegade-after-forced-to-work-with-Cerberus Shepard, but I'm not sure, really.

This is crazy talk!

There is no way that Morinth is a sociopath! Sure, she killed an entire village of people, but you can't proof they didn't attack her first, and maybe they liked being slaves in the first place! Sure, she killed Nef, but you can't proof that Nef wasn't a serial killer out to kill Morinth first.

Logically, Morinth is innocent and I declare Samara to be a big meanie.

The improvement to her personality was when my Shepard helped Samara kill her.

In her apartment when you're looking at her stuff and you look at her swords and she tells you she used to like duelling because she loved the look people got right when they realized they were going to die, or the chess set because she loves any game that lets an idiot think he's winning right before he dies, or when you're talking to her and she tells you that people feel safest right before they die.

That's why I've never recruited her, the only reason she gives you to choose her over Samara is because the death-sex connection turns so many people on. Almost everything she said during her potential recruitment painted her as a violent sociopath.

And her recruitment proved her wrong in my game. She felt safe and didn't think she would die when Samara broke in, and she didn't, it was Samara who died.

There is also the whole, you know, brainwashing an entire village to worship you as a goddess and demand sacrifices from them.

Samara is pretty quick to kill as well. Being willing to kill someone over a slight is extreme on the other side of the spectrum from Morinth. Morinth kills because it's a side effect of who she is, Samara is willing to kill people for who they are (even outside the case of Morinth). Hell, she even kept having children after the first was an ardait-yakshi.

The dichotomy between the two is interesting. I like them both, but wonder why so many seem to side with Samara and wish Morinth would have been fleshed out more.

I always had the feeling Morinth was just Jack copy and pasted to asari format. Needless to say I killed her every playthrough except once to get her Dominate ability. I was a pure renegade Engineer that time though.

I actually already sympathize with Morinth. More than I sympathize with Samara in many ways. Anyone who sees the world as black and white as Samara does with her Justicar code is dangerous. And what were Morinth's options? To live in isolation or to run. I could see myself doing the same if put in a situation like that.
