It's not something I would do (because I probably wouldn't play it 30 times
) but I don't see why it shouldn't be an option.
Is there really someone arguing against this? Show me on the doll what the fast forward button did to you.
I'm simply having a hard time understanding how you can play such a lengthy game over 30 times, and still be bothered by a 10 minute intro.
Would you be annoyed if you had to watch a ten minute loading screen, but had to keep pressing A every three minutes to continue it?
There's a huge difference between playing a 30 hour game, which is actually playing an experience you paid for, and watching an intro, which is cool the first time, but after creating a second or third character, just becomes a hinderance in the way of beggining the game.
Don't get me wrong, the intro is fantastic, but after the tenth time, it loses its magic. In movies, which people watch more than once, they DO allow you to skip certain scenes (although I'm not a fan of re-watching movies either) or fast forward.
True, it is a story-driven game, but more importantly, it's a character-driven game. So I want to see what the story is like if I play as a different class, background, and personality. I don't want to have to watch an intro which will be the same every single time, and isn't changed by my decisions at all. When I want to create a new character, it shouldn't take me twenty minutes to just get out and about and explore the new options.
I've played ME1 & 2 around 5 times each. If there's a part that I don't like or that I'm tired of, like Feros on ME 1 and the Reaper IFF in ME2, I just rush though it and press the X button as fast as I can in every conversation. It's really not THAT big of a deal. I'd rather see Bioware spend their time on more important features.
Nearly every other game has an option to skip cutscenes. It can't be that hard.

I completely support being able to skip the intro (and every other cutscene for that matter). The design in ME2 was especially bad because you couldn't just leave it running while you do something else because there was an interactive bit in the middle.
Not to mention, the conversation options there were completely pointless, and had no effect on the story at all, besides a handful of morality points.
I feel like they were just there to make sure you were focused.
