As someone who has played ME1 extensively on PC and 360, I'm of the view that it's terrible no matter what.iakus wrote...

I liked the Mako. I didnt have any problem controlling it, I don't know what was so hard about it. Maybe in the port to PC it became harder to use, but for me it was fine
From what I understand, the Mako got easier to use on the PC port. As a PC player, I never had a problem with it.
/sigh I miss the Mako. The Hammerhead was only good for starting a signal fire for the Normandy to pick you up. Just throw a rock at it and stand back...
Bring Back the Mako please!

The Mako could cause frustration if you mess up.

..but not necessarily in the Mako form.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the Mako and didn't seem to have as much issue with it as others - but just that sense of wonder, and spotting something in the distance, driving to it and finding a hidden little camp - abandoned, it was a nice feeling.

If I wanted to drive around bland landscapes endlessly, I'd ask my nan to take me to the shop.
Sorry nan, but you do get lost often when driving. :innocent:

You can't climb mountains with the Hammerhead the way you do with the Mako.

Wow, the Mako's weapons are great! Even though exiting the thing and shooting the enemies are about 10x faster with ME1 frictionless materials!
Wow, the Mako's so fun! Especially when i'm going up steep slopes! It moves an awesome 1 cm per minute!
Wow, the Mako's jets are the bestest! Especially when i activate them and fly about a meter straight!
Wow, the Mako is just excellent to control, especially when you're in zoom in mode!
Wow, the Mako's just lovely with its excellent maximum speed that i could zoom across level terrain on a map in real life minutes!
Hammerhead sucks for armor? Absolutely but who said insanity was supposed to be easy? Is it impossible on insanity? Thousands who have completed ME2 on insanity say no. "But its so difficult" you say? I recommend the "normal" or if you're really hopeless, the "casual" difficulty setting.
Given a choice between boredom from the Mako (and the only use for it is travelling from X to Y when your weapons are at 7+ and it doesn't even travel very fast) or setting controlable difficulty from the Hammerhead, i would choose the Hammerhead every time.

The Mako could get me anywhere if I persevered. Anywhere! The Hammerhead can't.

Travel off the map limits for a minute and tell me if you can travel anywhere

No, but it's also boring on insanity, because the missiles are so unbelivably weak.
Even the rockets the drones are shooting at me are more powerful.

I wouldn't mind having the hammerhead back with the mako if they let me save the game more often. One of the things I hated was getting almost to the end of a mission involving the hammerhead, dying and having to start from the beginning. I quite doing any of the hammerhead missions except Overlord and Overlord I only went from point a to point b, didn't do anything else.

Best part Mako was that it was simulation of vehicle driving and it provided variety to the gameplay it self. Compared to Hammerhead, what was more about acrade shooter.
But what should a tank with mass effect fields up feel like when you drive it? I don't see that the Hammerhead felt any more or less realistic, since both vehicles do what they're designed to to.
I'm still boggled by people finding the Hammerhead difficult to use. If you take any hits in the Hammerhead you've made a mistake.

I did not have any difficult to use Hammerhead and I did not take any hits with it. So armor was no issue for me. What I don't like about is the driving, it's just like in arcade shooter. You start and then it's all about move left, right, forward, jump little in this rail roaded path. Shoot when there is enemy. You can't feel the enviroment like road under you. You can't stop and step out. If you have played Jade Empire and there was this flying minigame in it. Hammerhead feeled same. Mako was better in this way, it was more like driving in 3D enviroment.AlanC9 wrote...

Getting out would be nice, sure. But I really didn't like the way ME1's XP awards encouraged this.

I know, but it takes one variable away from the driving experience, it reduse the meaning of enviroment.AlanC9 wrote...
Well, yeah... my point was that in a hovertank you shouldn't expect to feel the road under you.

The Hammerhead levels just feel like an arcade game to me. Enemies pop up out of nowhere and you shoot them with missiles that home in on their own.
Where do the infinite missiles come from? With the Mako, it made sense in that your guns were mass accelerator weapons.
Hover jets? Whatever happened to mass effect generators?
A giant blinking light on the back for "mining"?
Dancing around wildly when it "mines"?
Where's the room for this mining apparatus with the giant hover jets anyway?
Don't look at the hammerhead cross-eyed, you might break it.
Much like the inventory system, the Mako needed an overhaul, not get removed entirely.
Unreal Tournament called, they want their Manta back.
I agree with all of these. The Hammerhead SUCKED. Bring back the Mako, I want a vehicle that actually works with the lore, and can actually engage in combat in, not hide behind a corner while my auto-aim rockets hit something because my freaking arcade-tank is made of paper.
The Hammerhead had so many stupid gimmicks...ugh..that mining light on the back was the icing on the cake. For a moment I thought I regressed into the days of playing one of those Tonka space games.

I'm replaying ME1 right now, and honestly if it wasn't for the stupid Mako the game would be perfection. It is the worst controlling vehicle in the history of video games and you never do anything fun in it. Its slow, ponderous, and makes no more sense than the Hammerhead. Why are you always dropped on the wrong side of the jagged peaks? Joker shows he can drop the damn thing in a tight spot...how about right on the objective so there's the least amount of Mako driving.
Honestly, it drags down the entire game. I am loving my ME1 at the moment but the Mako is horrendous in every aspect.
The Hammerhead was at least fun to drive around. Give it some more armor and the Mako's armament and you have the perfect vehicle.

No. Instead, they should combine the best aspects of Mako & Hammerhead into 1 new amazing vehicle that lacks all the flaws of Mako & Hammerhead. And then combine the variety of N7 missions with the scale & exploration aspect of the UNC missions and we've got the best vehicle planet exploration levels yet.
I could go for this. However, I want giant space wheels and a BLUE (Reading this Bioware? You've seem to have forgotten the Mass Effect color scheme on these terms) BLUE-muzzleflashing autogun.
