FYI they also spoke blasphemy against Skyrim... didn't call it the best RPG to ever leave Bethesda's studio!

They said it had "Incremental" Improvements at best! and Uncharted 3 (My current next hyped up game after Dues Ex) they said was basically shiny and lacked substance... but it was "Cinematic".

I dare say their scathing wit must be stopped! :)

I didn't find it that bad....It Wasn't best on the floor but it still wasn't terrible. On the ME3 website, it even says that Bioware won awards for being the best of E3. Weird opinion.

Did it now?   http://social.biowar...3/index/7814025

Anyway it seems odd they say ME2 was there top game and then slam an innovative combat system in the Demo. Yeah sure it may be staple in other games, but its a vast improvement on ME2!!

ME3 will be story driven and the demo of course provides very little info.   Im not at all worried

I read this posy after commenting in this thread and the other thread and I was like.... woah coincidence.

Looks like one group we will hope to change the minds of as more information on Mass Effect 3 is released. :)

The demo...you mean the same demo that's been out for, like...months now, that we've all seen in action?

Actually you can. That's the entire point of a demo.

More like BioWare Attack Force *slash* This Game Is Going To Suck And I Will Jump At The First Indication Of That

Also known as BAF/TGISAIWJATFOT

The "The New-ish" part is complete rubbish, and the rest of the article doesn't seem to offer much justification, though I'll respect their opinnion.

Inb4 you-know-who rants and claims that all previews other than this one are being bought by EA to sound good.

Well, they weren't the only ones. Most of the podcasts I listened to from the big gaming sites had similar opinions and were generally unimpressed, sadly. I completely agree with his opinion about the little boy sequence.... that scene was pretty disgustingly desperate to try and provoke an emotional response with very poor acting and some of Mansell's piano tunes coming in to try and drive it home.

So, it is the Onion?

Shouldn't they be using their central website and be making obvious parodies?

I thought that the name was a coincidence.

The A.V. Club is the non-satirical portion of The Onion.

It is the Onion, although the AV club section is non-satirical. Still, I find it funny they seem to dislike improved TPS mechanics, straight after saying that ME2 was their game of 2010 (funny, because improved TPS mechanics were part of the reason so many lauded it).

Why would they have a non-satirical section of the Onion? That makes no sense, considering that the Onion does parodies of news networks and their websites.

It honestly seems like the guy is overly focusing on that one scene with the boy (a scene that everybody and his mother has already seen for at least a month now, I'd like to add) and is kind of miffed with the was things were presented. I don't see how it's damning or anything - he played the same crap that we've all seen for a while now.

Well, this "demo" is really an early gameplay video, not a playable demo. So it seems rather premature to condemn the game.

It's not improved mechanics, these mechanics were already in use by other games. Bioware, specifically Casey Hudson, is going around acting as if these additions are innovative. The way he talks about the grenades, which were in ME1, the melee assassinations, combat rolls, and kinect voice, you'd assume the man though Bioware came up with that all by themselves. :P I know these guys are pretty excited because ME is starting to become more of a shooter, but don't get all surprised when people who actually play shooter games look at you like you're crazy when you're talking about "new" features that they've come to know from many other shooters. If you don't believe me, or the Onion, just check out some of the demo videos on youtube, or the interviews and see the content of the discussion. ;)

Perhaps they are making fun of the Onion for being satirical, by being non-satirical? :D

That works, I think. Not that it makes any sense.

Casey's a hype man, that's what they do. What, do you expect him to go around telling people 'Yeah, this isn't anything special.' You can't get mad at a guy for pushing his product.
