I think, with ME, we have a rare case for a series. A lot of fans are so invested in this game, so ingrained in this vision of ME3, a game they've been invisioned playing for years, that anything that deviates from that vision causes them to immediately freak out and assume the absolute worse. Things that wouldn't even warrant discussion with most other games merit massive debate here.

It's sad in a way - I think ME3 is going to disappoint a lot of people. Not even because it'll be bad or anything, but because some people have built up this near-messaianic view of it, have a standard that could only be reached if they were making the games themselves.

I agree with you on that littlezack.  Thats why I usually dont try to formulate a god-game vision in my head whenever i hear about a title/series/upcoming release that interests me.  I try to keep all my expectations level and just go based on the assumption that if I enjoyed the previous game, I expect the sequel to deliver equal amounts of enjoyment.

That is to say not the exact same way of course, but in a way thats new but still using recognizable cues from the previous game.

Reason being, i never expect anything to ever be 100%, I've never played a game that was just wall to wall perfect without some minor defects, so I dont look for any game I play to be perfect.  But I also dont conciously look to point out problems and flaws either.   I just enjoy it for what it is.

Same way I can enjoy a movie like I'm gonna git you sucka and turn around and watch Road to perdition and love them both :)

As the gaming market grows, its just a simple fact of mainstream cross over, there will be crap.

Of course crap has existed in gaming since Atari, but also dont forget Bioware has been around for a while, steadily growing larger with each success, so it will so happen that not EVERYTHING they put out will be a diamond.

New devs will come, grow, become big and mainstream, produce good and bad alike. You just gotta steel yourself really adn take the good with the bad... as every industry does
