Star Trek sequel's not shooting until January 2012, likely for a 2013 release. And that movie is in pre-production right now. Mass Effect still doesn't have anything. They probably don't even have a script yet. Imagining it takes them until 2012 to finish the script and start pre-production, and that shooting starts at the end of 2012 or in 2013... I'm guessing we won't see this movie until the end of 2013 at best, but 2014 seems more likely.

I got this strange feeling that if or when they make a Mass Effect movie they are going to screw it up like Michael Bay did with Transformers. I just cant agree with ppl that a Mass Effect movie is a good idea......Look at what they did to Mortal Kombat, Hitman, Max Payne, Alone in the Dark, Super Mario Bro's, DOA, AND Resident Evil.

Even if it turns out good I don't think I'll be able to enjoy it. Fro one, all the characters will look and/or sound different. I can already imagine going "that's not Liara, that doesn't sound anything like Garrus" etc. Because of the runtime the story will be considerably shorter. Also, I prefer Femshep. I mean, it will feel like a remake as opposed to an adaptation.

Not interested. The game is cinematic enough. It would be cool to see, say...an anime series or something (NERD ALERT)

The only movie that I saw that was based on a video game that was even remotely good was the Prince of Persia, and that was because Disney had a hand in the film making process. I'm actually kind of peeved to hear that it will be about a male Shepard. The whole point of the Mass Effect video games IS to make it like a movie that you play through however you'd like it as Shepard (man or woman)! The movie should be about one of the NPCs in the VG. They could interface a few stories about Shepard in it as a sub-plot, but that really cheapens up the point of the video games. BioWare writers, if you do have your hands in this, please hear us out. It sounds like you've listened to the fans so far, so please...keep it up and don't sell the RPG fans out!

I think its good to think of the Mass Effect film as a big budget live action walkthrough that you might see on youtube not an adaptation of your play through. Just see it as someone else interpreting the game. It by no means becomes more "canon" than your playthrough. Its a separate universe.

I don't understand people, that say"oh ME film's going to suck, because it's about male Shepard and also it's gonna suck, cause of bad script and director", I don't give **** if it's going to suck or not, I will still buy ticket's to go and see it, cause I love ME universe and I have big faith in BW, that they're not going to allow some **** director make mess of that beautiful story.

I'd love to see a live version but I just think that it would take an Avatar like budget (well not really if you listen to what Gareth Edwards has to say about CGI costs in film), a cast of really good actors (not just models who want to be actors) and a well written script that actually takes time for characters to develop enough so that we care about them. As soon as the financial backers get their noses into the project it's almost invariable downhill from there as money seems to conflict with artistic vision and integrity.

A complete CGI version would probably work better as you can model and voice the characters as to what we as Mass Effect gamers are already accustomed to, and it would be easier to do financially. I wouldn't bother retelling the current Mass Effect Trilogy, I'd actually start at humanity's first introduction/inclusion to the universal community.

Side note: I think Olga Kurlenko would make for an interesting Jack in a live version: http://i39.tinypic.com/15aljk.jpg

The great debate again, live action vs CG(better IMO), canon shepard vs alt story(ala First Contact War), to do it vs not to do it.

TBCH I don't really care either way as long as they don't completely **** it up like Uwe Boll does with all of his game based movies. And someone please make sure Cooper Lawerence sees this movie so she doesn't spout off about **** she really has no clue about.

Now that my rant is over, COOPER LAWERENCE, I still hold true to the fact that the theatrical release for ME2 is the benchmark for what the Mass Effect movie should be. Granted it is CG and some people don't like it but you cannot deny that it was well made and completely epic in its own right. However I do feel the anime approach(I apologize if this has changed, I've been living underneath a rock for the past few months) is a fair compromise as long as it doesn't look like anime. But as I said, they might have changed the medium for the film and hopefully is is CG over live action. Let us be honest, who really wants live action with actors whos voices don't sound anything like the original characters? Granted they can do a voice over but if you are going to do a voice over the movie might as well be CG and then the characters would look all correct.

Also make sure Fox News sees this movie as well so they don't assume it has extremely graphical alien on human, alien on alien sex that is controlled by the audience. COOPER LAWERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serenity was awesome in my opinion. Probably in the minority but I enjoyed both the film and Firefly TV series.

On a more related note. I am not going to judge a film that hasn't been made yet. Mass Effect film hasn't been made. So please wash the foam from your mouths and save it for films that are finished and in public domain.

Hmm not sure too sure about this movie. Some game based movies are pretty cool like Resident Evil but some were dissapointing, sure i would take CG over live action any day but i'll actually give it a chance and wait for some more info though first.

They could easily get all the people who voiced the characters like Garrus, Wrex and Mordin to voice them again as motioned captured cgi characters, and for Tali just slap the chick who voiced her in a costume.

Just thought, Kate Beckinsale as Ashely WIlliams, only because if she can look that good in leather pants in Van Helsing, imagine what she'd be like in red+white tight fitting combat armour ;D
