Tali and Garrus are key characters. It wouldn't be true Mass Effect without them. They are doable.
exactly. but they screw up every game and book made into a movie. I have to say I'm not expecting any better from them here...

So what do you guys imagine they'd do with Shepard? The most generic protagonist in the world without player's imagination? Just how would they deal with Shepard's character, or rather lack thereof? The only reason why Shepard has any in the games is because we put ourselves in his/her position and determine why s/he does these decisions. Without player Shepard is an unperson without identity. There is literally no way to make an interesting movie about Shep in the lead.
I suspect they'll make him half paragon half renegade. I think they said he'll romance Ashley. Besides that, due to mass effect three shepard has a character of his own, which is awesome.

The only movie set in the Mass Effect universe that I would have any interest in seeing would be following a new set of (human) characters as they discover they aren't alone in the universe.
First Contact War...
I also think this is better.
The history of the games i prefer to see in a TV series.

That was never officially announced. Am I the only one who really thinks the First Contact War was too short and involved too little of the Mass Effect universe to become an entire movie?IsaacShep wrote...
It's basically granted it's gonna depict First Contact War.kill_switch_423 wrote...
Some news, finally? Maybe we'll finally find out if it's going to be Shepard-centric or not. Maybe.
Well, I remember the B5 movie about the minbari war. It was better than most B5 movies, but mediocre compared to the actual series... I'm sure it will be interesting, but I fear it won't be a masterpiece. Adapting games to movies has a scatchy at best, but none of those games had a rich background like the MEverse. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

I hope they make an Asimov worthy robot-centric film.

What I'm trying to say is that there could be a lot more to it than "First Contact War," pew pew; it could be a way to show us what humanity was like during that time. Did Cerberus exist even then in some form? What were they up to? What was the political environment like? Were we all one big nation speaking a unified language? Religion? How did we overcome nuclear wars, overpopulation, a lack of resources? What was the lunar colony like? How did we take the news as a race that the galaxy doesn't revolve around us? How did the other races react to us (obviously not well with the turians.)
The Manswell Expedition is one of the coolest back-stories in ME, I'd love to know more about them. I'm also curious about how human biotics work. Did the government gather them all up to study them, with or without permission?
I'm sure a lot of this is answered in the codex at some point or another, but I still think it would be a great way to introduce people to the ME series while still entertaining old fans.

It's literally already in movie format, all they'd have to do is clip together the cutscenes and conversations.
And yet you know they'd screw it up horribly, which is the saddest/funniest part.

Maybe in 6 years they'll be making the third Mass Effect movie based on ME3, and we can finally see the the ending re-written. By that point the phrase "artistic integrity" should be an established trope that means "to pretend that something of low quality that you created in a hurry in order to make a fast buck or to meet a deadline is actually 'art' and that anyone who doesn't like it simply requires greater 'clarity' to understand it."
We already have that. usually it's just called "trying to be artsy", but other times they are called a "hipster".
But I equate the ending of ME3 and its excuse to like when I'm doodling, and cant get the anatomy right with the pose I chose, so I just say screw it and call it "stylized".

And of course. I hope the movie will have a better ending, but honestly, if you want an "artistic vision ending whatever blablabla", so it will be okay. Because it's a movie and we have to make no decisions... And don't make promises, you don't keep like in ME3

That way we can make things look real good...rather than focus on which famous actors face we have to stare at while they fail to form any type of facial expression.

I never got the idea behind a "Mass Effect movie". It already IS a movie, albeit an interactive one.

Well, it's a 100h movie. If you want to watch such a longformat movie with you boy/girlfriend, your boy/girlfriend has to be a gamer, too
Edit: interpunkation

The whole point of ME is to basically be a PART of a movie, as Shepard, and make your own choices and make Shepard into who you think they are.
If they make Shepard's story into a movie, I will not watch it. I will deny it exists, because it means that they're inadvertently asserting some form of canon.
Now, if it's about a new character in the ME universe, or is a part of a squaddie's history, I will watch it. Take Mordin or Zaeed, or Doc Chakwas for example. Or even make some of the books into movies The First Contact War would be a better choice as well.
But no, no no no to a movie version of ME1, 2 and 3.
