If Uwe Boll directs, at least it will be entertaining. Not the good kind of entertaining, mind you, but the kind of eye-rollingly incompetent, facepalm-worthy amusement that only he can deliver!

I wouldn't mind a CGI movie/series. Heck, even if it's live action a large portion would be CGI anyways. But it would have to be done RIGHT. Ie, by the guys who did the trailers.

Exactly. Since huge portions of it would have been CGI in the first place, better to make it CGI all the way.

The CGI trailer are good hints as to how good it can look, certainly far better than human actors on a bluescreen, copy-pasted into an CGI enviroment.

To achieve the same level in real life, they would really need a huge budget, actual sets, etc. etc.

If this movie ever gets made (I bet PS5 comes out before it at this point) do you think they will change the ending of ME3? Apparently BioWare has a lot of creative control over this project

If the movie ever gets made, it'll likely not cover ME3's content.

Well really I meant to ask this "trilogy". They've always planned to do the first movie in one film, only makes sense ME2 and 3 to fit 2 more films, given success at the box office in the first one.

hey i just saw this on the answers page thought i'd share this, sucks that the first draft was tossed :/ "Re: Mass Effect Movie - Legendary Pictures [ Edited ]

First of all, wrong forum. Visit http://social.bioware.com or a movie forum to dicuss this. This is a tech support forum.

But now that I'm replying anyway: Movies spend a lot of time in pre-production and there's never any certainty that it will be made (except in rare cases, such as the next Star Wars movie). Legendary Pictures has a good track record when it comes to adapted movies (The Dark Knight, Watchmen, 300, etc.), but right now they're busy with the WarCraft movie. One screenplay for Mass Effect was written and thrown out, and now a new screenwriter is working on a new script." here's the link http://answers.ea.co.../751012#U751012

It needs to be the Shepard trilogy! That's what people wanta see and to say anything else would be a lie! YOu know this and I know this! :)

Thats because all video game movies are really rubbish, the only one i have seen that i think is watchable is hitman and that was not that great. like many of you the mass effect trilogy is my favourite game series, favourite games in general even with the thing i refuse to talk about anymore (3rd's ending) ENOUGH!. I really don't want them to make it unless it's not sheps story but another from the ME universe but thats just me maybe.

No.  Just no.  IF the movie gets made then, yes, ME1 is easily a good movie.  No problem adapting it to the screen.  The problem comes wth ME2 and MUCH more with ME3.  You would have to gut a lot of story content to get ME2 to work as a movie, but the killer is ME3.  There is NO WAY you can cover both curing the genophage AND taking back Rannoch in a single 2 hr movie.  Hell, each of those major plot elements could (and should) get their own movie treatment.  OK, you may be able to fit curing the genophage into a movie on defeating the Reapers without gutting it too much but no way with Rannoch.  That mission screams epic.  That mission isn't small change.  It needs and deserves a ME movie to cover it in its own right.  There is no reason to lock into a trilogy.  Star Wars is now at 6 movies with yet another on the way.  Focus on maybe 4 or 5 ME movies so that full aspects of the universe and story can be well fleshed out.

Or don't do it at all.

Warcraft's getting a movie? ?? I guess they can pretty much fill in the blanks and not worry with pre-existing plot with that franchise.

I am a little worried we haven't heard anything about this in so long. I hope it does get made, one way or another. As long as it's with Legendary, it should meet a certain level of quality no matter what they do. I hope it happens.

Warcraft.  THERE'S a movie I will never see.  Think "Mortal Combat" crap.  Or "John Carter" or later Conan movies (the first one was the best and only one.  The rest was dreck).

I say, start off with the first book. That captain Anderson and Kaylee Sanders story was great. If it gets good reviews, or the fans scream for it, them maybe we bring in Shepard. Got to get it right first tho. The book would be a good starting point to work out the kinks and see what works and what doesn't.

How long are LOTR books?

Ok. And the movies?

Are they any good?

Hmm..

Just watched the Elysium trailer a moment ago and there were uncanny resemblance to the Citadel. Make it happen, Mass Effect Movie has the potential to trump all previous and new SciFi movies!

As long as character building is done correctly throughout the saga, you COULD fit the major acts into a 2 hour movie. It comes down to creative writing and slick story transitions that meld these moments into a more singular story element that makes it seem as if thing are occurring in a non-linear, simultaneous fashion. Unlike the game where things must be unlocked to proceed, a movie can weave the story in a way that seems less abrupt, with a focus on the whole story instead of having to progress element by element.

the Return of the Jedi actually had three different battles occurring at once. The audiences point of view skipping from one to the other and yet I don't remember anyone being put off by that. There was so much going on in that movie thanks to some very creative writing and editing. I don't think ME 3 would be all that different. However, a company that just up and quits on game support after releasing some of the buggiest DLC that I can recall; if they have the amount of control over this project that has been claimed by others, I truly doubt it will be made. They should have called the alternate appearance pack 1, "Alternate Appearance Pack F... Y.."! Why call something "1" When a "2" or "3" will NOT be following. I guess somebody didn't want to be a fireman this week, they want to be a cowboy, now. Do you really believe this movie will be made?

Ewww.. no, just no.

A mass effect movie RUINS what mass effect is. No doubt Liara will be the romance and we'll get a steamy romance scene.

It also ****s up headcanon (if it will be in ME3) because hurr durr synthesis.

Just no.

This!

Even with JJ Abrams Star Wars & Star Trek would have to lift their game to compete with a well made Mass Effect movie.

Seeing what Hollywood did to other video games (Tomb Raider, Hitman, Max Payne, Resident Evil, Prince of Persia ... etc...) I'm not really thrilled about this ME movie. Most likely, it won't live up to the original games, so don't expect too much, or you will be really disappointed.

This!

I have yet to see a good movie that was based on a video game.....

Just my two cents.. a bucket of them:
It does not matter how good a movie they do, as long as it includes anything that has not been explicitly in-game (and has become a small headcanon different for every player), even if it is lore-correct, people are going to get frustrated. It is sort of how our brains work - fill in the missing gaps from surrounding data, and then get irritated when it changes.. This is one of the reasons why most movies made from games, books, etc. feel out of place.

And..

A movie needs romance.. at least some romantic tension even if they resist it.. For the first game it is going to be 1/3 chance to hit (Liara, Ash, noone).

It needs to canonize Ash/Kaidan (1/2), Rachni or dead-rachni (1/2), Wrex, Kirahee is definately going to live.. And most likely it will be council alive (1/2) and Anderson (lets give it a generous 8/10 chance to not miss). Do some math and we get that only 3.3/100 viewers will be satisfied by all choices. By the end of ME3 this drops exponentially :D
There, I proved that it is going to suck for most who played the game :)

Now another part:
There are about 2 million ME1 copies sold and lets guess - about 4-6 mil. more pirated.
Marvel's The Avengers have ~73 million tickets sold. Unfortunately in commercial terms we, the gamers, true fans, have very little buzz when it comes to corporate script decisions for such movies.

But still, I am waiting and I rather see a typical comic book movie, rather than no mass effect movie at all.

TL;DR: movie will suck, but I still can't wait to see it.

Wrong math. It would be truth only if choices are unrelated. In this case they’re either paragon or renegade (with the exception of Ash / Kaidan obviously), so if movie goes 100% paragon, I guess the majority of players should be satisfied, not 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 etc.

So there have been rumors that Legendary will release the Mass Effect movie in November 2016.  I'm hoping it will be officially announced today at Comic Con.

I often wonder about this myself? All news of this just disappeared. Seems to be taking forever!

Well... I haven't even started Mass Effect 3 yet, so my "forever" comment is not really valid I guess. Maybe I'll get on it this weekend. There's just sooo much info here to sift through.

Oops! Now I'm on a tangent. Just make a movie already!!!

More hyped about JMS confirming he's writing a B5 Movie to be honest.  There can never be enough fantasy or sci-fi in cinema.

Will Legendary make a Mass Effect Movie?  As long as there is "One More Story" about the Shepard.

Vid games to movies typically fail. There are exceptions...  I like what @dorktainian said about "One more story", but wouldn't mind if they completely moved away from any principle in the game and created fiction within the MEU. A whole new adventure!
