All these years and I still think about this game. At least once a week I think about rolling a new char, or creating a custom party or modding the game in some way, or making more portraits and starting up a game.
But then I get a couple quests in and stop playing.
Rinse repeat.
HELP!
Please help me. I have the Baldurs Gate sickness still!

Fairly common syndrome, if you ask me. Happens to quite a number of players who are deeply unsatisfied or haven't actually pinned down what they want from their game. Back in the day, they called this the Caladon Syndrome after a semi-famous game where players seem to quit after reaching a major quest/city in said game.
I suggest you start doing challenges, though. You'll roll for characters for quite some time more if you don't know what you want out of your game.

Try something different. A mod, or a solo quest, or a a duet with your favorite romanceable NPC.

There is also Icewind Gate 2, if you have both Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale 2. It is BG2 played under Third Edition rules. I am currently working through it now. See my blog/column in the topic:
