Was this old news because this is something I would like the forum to comment on? There must be some good rumors out on the vast web? This movie seems locked in a vacuum. What is the down low?

I don't know why nobody is commenting on this, this is sort of huge news. This means that the Mass Effect movie is far enough into development that they are presenting it at a convention.

During Comic-Con, it will most likely be revealed if the movie is an adaption of the first game, or if its a prequel, or if its something else entirely.

I can't wait! I really hope they dont mess this up. A really great Mass Effect movie would be amazing.

Actually that IS big news. After not hearing anything on this in like... a year, they're having a panel on it? Nice

Hopefully we get some input on the ME anime as well as the DA animation as well. (or even the DA webisodes).

Looking forward to those as well.

I'm very hopeful. I always thought that the best sort of movie for the ME universe would be something along the lines of FFSW (final fantasy the spirits within). The trailer involving shepard, thane, and grunt on an unnamed colony fighting collectors furthered my inclination that this would be the way to go. And now, this past week, BW revealed that FFSW movie was a great inspiration for their art direction.

These things put together makes me really want, and nearly expect, the movie to be done in the same method. So.. I'm pretty pumped to see what they reveal about the movie. Either way, I'm curious and excited to know, release date or possible release year (2012, 2014, 2015?), the era the movie takes place in, characters, method (live action, cgi, animated?)..

Very hopeful.

Well as long a it stays true to the material, it can work.

Problem with MOST VG movies is the writers totally disregard the base material or try to add too much of "Their own" spin to it and it comes out like utter garbage.

If hollywood stayed as true to VG stories/characters as they do to Written/Novel properties we wouldnt be having these problems I dont think.

No reason a VG based series cant have its own "LOTR" esque grand masterpiece. I mean hey if the Twilight series can set records.....Shouldnt be a problem for a VG based film series to do well.

Nah you are not the only one, I don't really hold out much hope for the Mass Effect movie being any good.  I still have have nightmares involving the god awful crime against humanity that was the "Wing Commander" movie.

I find it odd that there hasn't been any earlier news on this, and I check Screenrant on a daily basis.

I don't really understand how this movie is going to be shown. Has anyone even been casted for anything? IMDB is vacant...and just about everywhere else is too. I didn't know they were going to show something...unless it'll be moving comic with some voice overs or something.

I think the movie is still in development (hell hopefully) and this will be nothing more than talking about what its like to transition ME to the big screen. They might show off some concept art if they've got it but there's no way the movie is in any way ready to be shown and nothing has leaked about it.

All I know is that I'm not getting my hopes up. Did that with Green Lantern, left TERRIBLY disappointed.

I think this is going to be mostly about how they plan on translating the game into a movie, obviously casting isn't even started, the web would already be a buzz about it.

I hope something horrible happens to someone that cancels this movie (not really but I really hope it doesn't come out).

I really the movie isn't a film version of Shepard's story. I am hopeful but Hollywood movies can be such a gamble. You never know which ones will suck.

People need to relax, you either watch the movie or you don't, that simple.

Read the article, folks. All it says is that the screenwriter will be on a panel with Casey Hudson. He's just going to answer some questions and probably talk about concept. They aren't going to show anything film-related, because there's nothing yet to show. Well, maybe they'll have some incredibly vague CG trailer.

I just hope the writers came up with something more original than a ME1 adaptation. I want a new story and new characters - my best pick would be The First Contact War. The movie about Shep would definitely establish a canon one, and we all know what Bioware says about canon in this game.

And I just hope that the makers of the movie won't rate it PG-13.

considering that Bioware is in a semi-director position with this film and the production company is Legendary Pictures I don't think it will be a bad movie. also there are 2 full length movies planned, one is live action (the one that they will be discussing at comic con from what I can tell) and an animated one.
