I want a Mass Effect movie. Just not with Shepard in it.

I just hope that it turns out to be a good movie, not some boring action movie that's been done a million times.

I wonder how they're going to do it, plot-wise. Probably have to do a prequel to the series, unless they do it as a side-show to the events of ME1.

I look forward to a live action version of Mass Effect. I think the key is to not be too ambitious but tell a small portion of the story with the best narrative and visual fidelity possible.

even if they make the movie with shep and establish cannon, idk....don't give me something about the first contact war that i don't really care about....

I just hope to God that it's not a movie version of what happened in ME1 or 2. Both the games are far better than any movie could be, and there is way to much content in both (even in terms of just main quests) to press into a 2.5 hour movie. If it were based off the first contact war or one of the ME books (revelation) I would be fine with that. Only problem is that it would be harder to advertise. Whatever happens, they better stay faithful to their true fans.

first contact war would be ok, assuming the main character is anderson....IMO they HAVE to link it to the games for it to be a financial hit....
that being said, i'd be alright with revelation adaptation.....that would work, it would set up another movie or 2 as well...

Yeah the looming specter of bad video game movies still has me a bit worried, despite Legendary's overall talent and the ME devs having say/control in the movie too.

I am very excited to see what they will present, but I also echo the concerns that it really should be set in the universe and largely independent of Shep's story.

as long as the producers let hudson and Co go about their business it should be fine......like i said, i'd think revelation would be ideal, strong connection to the game with saren and anderson, a perfect lead in to a few more movies with shep's story.....also, enough time would pass from me3 to the make of shep's movie that the 'cannon' argument would be moot....

well, one of the big problems with others in recent vintage...(house of the dead, silent hill, resident evil, doom) is the fact they they invented a little to much for those FPS/rail gun games as back story and plot device, they wouldn't really have to do that for ME, they can just tell the story as is...

agreed, one can hope though.....perhaps with it being with legendary they could get a guy like chris nolan involved, he basically wouldn't have to bow down to the producers....

Here's a thought: it could tell the story of the fallout between Anderson and Saren, and at the end of the movie a brief cameo or reference to Commander Shepard, another candidate for the Spectres.

Clearly this is where we need Chris Rock, Chris Tucker or Martin Lawrence. And before anyone reaches for a rock to beat me senseless, that was a joke. But man, the hilarity.

Was this old news because this is something I would like the forum to comment on? There must be some good rumors out on the vast web? This movie seems locked in a vacuum. What is the down low?

Probably took a while to garner traffic because Bioware made an announcement in the news/announcement section, but I'm a bit glad you made one here as that posting is getting a little unfriendly with people trying to raise their opinion on the film over others.  

With that said, I'm excited to hear how development is going after what has happened to Bioshock, Gears of War, and, lets not forget, Halo.  I don't care really care what they do in the film, as long as the quality is worthy.  

My bet, there will be lots of Mass Effect 1 lens flare that will make JJ Abrams weep with joy.

I hope they cast an amazing cast but keep as many of the voice actors in their parts as possible. Like brandon Keener as Garrus, Seth green as Joker, Kieth David as Anderson and so on. They should also stay as true to the games as possible.

Kieth David looks nothing like David Anderson, Seth Green should stick to only doing voice work, and they never stay true to anything when it comes to video games into movies.

hmm.....that's a good one.....jesse williams, anthony mackie, dule hill......

williams and mackie both resemble anderson from the game from a looks standpoint.....dule hill reminds me of a young keith david (anderson's voice, and about the only acceptable actor i'd take in a shep based ME movie)
