Hey guys i've been thinking about a tactic to try but i want some advice on it first.  what would happen if i had two (or even 3) tanks that all know threaten, taunt, and disengage.  the 2 or 3 characters would stand far apart from each other on the battlefield and draw enemies and fire to themselves. if there are no enemies around then they cast taunt to pul some in. but if there are, say, 3 enemies or more around a single tank, they cast disengage to get some to leave. this way the vast majority of enemies spend the vast majority of their time walking between tanks (or being struck down by one).  this makes them easy picking for a ranged attacker (either archer or mage).

i see 2 potential problems with this idea:

1. the tanks would probably need a lot of stamina to continually cast those 2 activated talents and keep threaten on.

2. the ranged attacker would be doing quite a bit of damage and could draw aggro himself (since the tanks will never mass-aggro since they use disengage).  i could alleviate this by having a melee attacker (either 2H or dual wield) protecting my mage/archer, however

opinions? just a thought...

You got the general idea, but using three tankers to do it is impractical. Why not a tanker, a dexterity warrior and a two-hander? Or a nuker Shapeshifter, a tanker and a two-hander? You can even try tanker/Arcane Warrior/two-hander, if you know your way around AoE aggro spells like Miasma.

Point is, you only really need one tanker, the rest can be any offense character with good survivability. This way you won't have to deal with running out of stamina, and mobs should be dead by the time it's the two-hander's turn to take aggro.

As long as they're not all shielders. XD
Though you could play Shield Bash baseball with 4 shielders, until someone gets Crushing Prisoned or something.

Depends on how you build the Shielder lol

You can definetly make one of them spell immune at least.

You can really check out all the specs this way too and stack some nastyness, Rally will stack withself for like +40 Attack/Defense.

Even some of the "Experimental" builds like High Con Tanks, or High willpower two-hand style Templars. Can see the light of day :)

As long as at least one of the warriors is a templar, they can remove crushing prison with cleanse area. I like to have that in case the mage is the one hit with crushing prison, as they can't cast dispel if they are the one that's hit.

A templar can have 100% spell immunity with the right equipment.

yes i know the basic ideas behind the "normal" party. ive spent far too many hours reading up on game mechanics, im jsut throwing out an idea here. the two parties ive been most sucessful with were:

1)Dwarf Commoner (i wanted to try that origin) 2H, Allistair Tank, Wynne Healing, and Lelian Ranged Damage + Traps & Locks. This was my "good" character and party.

2)Dalish Elf Archer (Ranged Damage + Locks/Traps), Shale (Tank), Sten (2H DPS), and Morrigan (DPS/CC/Lover). This was my "greedy/bad" character. btw keeping negative characters like morrigan and sten happy AND getting maximum exp. and rewards is rather tough.

Keeping Morrigan happy can be a quest in itself. Even while playing as an "evil" character, I don't like to turn down quests, and exp, which can sometimes lose approval with her. I just try to put off giving Morrigan the black grimoire and her personal quest until later, or after Redcliffe, so I don't lose much approval with her after maxing it out. The same with Sten: he gets his sword later in the game.

At least they get high approval boosts through dialogue if you pick the right responses. Morrigan and Sten are the two companions that give the most approval through dialogue, unlike Wynne who has to be on hand to witness your good deeds, or be given lots of gifts.

agreed. i had finally maxed out morrigan to +100...then she brought up the love convo...i TRIED to steer clear of directly saying "i love you" to her....but still i said something along the lines of "you are reading more into it than there is, lets just relax and not worry about love"....nd then i took a -20 approvl hit and lost her massive magic. **sigh**.

and yeah if you have the good party of allistair, leliana, and wynne then its insanely easy to max their approval. just do the good, moral actions and you get approval boosts AND extra quests/exp/items. although i have to admit being evil and helping the werewolves ravage the dalish camp WHEN I WAS A DALISH really felt like a kick to the groin against my people.

side note: i just hit the scene where tamlen (your dalish elf companion) reappears t the end of the battle against the shades in the camp....did anyone else get there and just go "WHERE THE **** DID THAT COME FROM?!?!?"

With Morrigan try acting self-serving/indifferent instead of actively trying to be the bad guy. I've never had a problem keeping her approval at 100 regardless of my party's morals. And I always bring her along - I like how she can be cruel and selfish, and not when she doesn't need to be. Also the game has lots of Morrigan-exclusive +approval items, just keep a list of these close and you should be fine.

Spell Resistance will not save you from several spells that require you to make a mental/physical resistance check. Ask the many 100% resist templars who failed their physical resist check against Paralyze. So just to be safe I'd bring along two at least two templars.

My issue with shielders is that they kill slow. There is no need to actually prolong the tanking process, and since all warriors have access to both aggro increasing and aggro reducing skills then it makes sense to not make all of them shielders.

Ive never had a problem killing slow as a shield tank. This probably the funest Warden ive ever played.

Warrior, Reaver/Templar
Minimum atributes, 26 Dex and all other points Str. Also a good variation is 26 Dex, 30 Con, and all other points Str. Aim for having str at least 70+

Pick up your regular talents and skills, though I suggest getting Poison to at least 1-3.
Aim for your regular gear types.

Run Threaten+Aura of Pain and Skill spam all the monsters down. You will do good damage and usualy always have aggro on entire groups with that combo and taunt of course.

I avoid Champion becase Rally is no good on a skill spammer build and I generaly avoid Berserker because you get better benefits from Templar.
