wowwww this thread, have you guys never heard of taking a premise to its logical conclusion?

because, after all, the logical extreme of the pro-mage argument isn't mage superiority, it's equality -- while the pro-templar argument can extend as far as complete slave oppression or outright genocide.

OP is trying to prove a point, y'all. he's not actually arguing for baby killins

I like you, you're a pretty smart guy. ;)

That's what I like about Meredith. There wasn't any passive-agressive waffling (right, Sebastian?). She didn't hide a dagger behind a smile. If she wanted the mages dead, they would be dead, and they would damn well know that they would be dead, and that she wanted them dead. After all, magic is a curse against the Maker, right? Right?

Thoughts?

So they should follow through with Ser Alriks plan. Problem solved for all. No demons, no complaints, nothing left.

Did anyone here said that he is arguing for baby killing ?

My Tip: Think twice (or even more) before you answer.

But yeah don't mind me. Keep discussing about "killing the children in front of their parents".

...why are we discussing killing babies?

I don't even think it's possible to detact magic in someone so young. Most of the mages the players know discovered their ability after toddler age. (and the others are unknown). So the whole point is moot anyway.

yeah exactly what i thought. Thats why i said THINK TWICE.
If you can't see the difference between "Discussing about" and "Arguing for" then there is not much left here to say about your "smartness".

It's only five pages, you shouldn't be that shocked.

Killing the mages? Hmm, that's probably not a good idea. But making them all Tranquil? That's a better solution. But don't you need mages for that, or is only a magic "hot poker" required?

Don't just make them Tranquil, make it a hangable offense not to abuse them! Mages are vermin, after all, right? Abuse them so much that they rebel and when they do, you cut them down. In the interval, degrade them and sap them of as much personal dignity as humanly possible! It'll be fun, I promise! There's nothing like mass-murder to start the day off right.

CrimsonZephyr, didn't I write that I don't want the mages killed? They certainly aren't vermin. Many are, however, a danger to themselves and their surroundings. On the other hand, as many have stated, unless all nations decide to Tranquilize or kill all mages at the same point, a mass Tranq/killing is not gonna happen. Mages are a force to be reckoned with, so no one will want to let the neighbour keep a weapon of mass destruction.

Really, I am pro-mage but I understand the concern many have with mages, since the risk of possession and/or destruction seems quite big. Killing mages just for being mages is wrong, though.

No magic items, no magical healing, etc... People hate mages because they have so much power in their hands. They fear them.

Basically every mage I ever trusted in the game betrayed me or caused the murders of innocent people.

I don't see ANY reason to side with them again. Templars all the way.

Even Merrill and Anders can't be trusted.

there wasn't much appeal in siding with the templars in the end really

The circle wasn't even responsible for Anders' terrorist bomb. Why would anyone side with the templars?

Ignoring all metagaming possibilities, There was no justification for killing all those mages, Unless they played a Hawke who hated mages

Well, if you thought free mages = new Tevinter...which isn't really supported by the game, actually. There is literally one mage who wants this: Tarohne, and you kill her early on. The rest are just trying to avoid an increasingly cruel system. I mean, one mage in the Gallows mentions they receive twenty lashes for talking to outsiders. What.
