The 8500GT *is* junk, yes. It's got a paltry 16 shaders!

The 112 shader 9800GT will set you back $90 and let you run it at maximum (well, maybe just 2x or 4x AA).

This is concerning, I'm running windows 7 64bit, fresh install on Raid 0 150 gig harddrives with a X2 4400+ AMD, 4 gigs ram with a EVGA 9800 GT. And I have to run everything on low. Is it possible my X2 which is afew years old is bottle necking my game? The video card obviously new but I am unsure if my cpu is just too old to do well with a game this new? Suggestions?

A Nvidia below the sub "6" (ie 7600, 8600, 9600, 260) isn't a gaming card and you should not expect anything decent from it. I have no experience of the 3 digit current Nvidias, but up until then, they haven't been.

Nvidia BFG 285 OC.

Game runs smooth on it with all settings at max.

Best Buy is running a sale right now and it is actually cheaper there than at Newegg.

One word of warning. The card is huge compared to the other cards I have owned. I had to take a dremmel tool to my case to make room for it. Stupid HD mounting braces.

8800 GTS 512 MB

1680x1050 resolution. Max graphic setting, 2x AA. Runs very well, slight choppiness during cut-scenes

Otherwise, it runs like how I imagine it would on an Xbox 360. Except the graphics are beautiful!

GTX 280. The game runs fine for a few hours, then starts to slow down to the point that it can take up to 4 minutes to load areas and becomes extremely choppy. At that point I exit and re-enter the game, and it's good for another few hours.

GTX 285 here along with a quad core CPU at 2.8Ghz. Everything runs great but i have noticed that pressing "Tab" a lot to highlight items makes the game slow down after a while. If i dont press it at all there arent any problems. I havent found out why yet

I run on high settings and do not lag at all. Atb-tabing causes some performance issues though.

That sounds like a memory leak...

Well, as has been said by a couple, your card is indeed junk. Im pretty sure it doesn't even meet the minimum requirements. Your best bet is turning everything down to low, turn off AA, and possible turn resolution down and run in a window. (will look even worse full screen on a LCD) You could also upgrade to something that would "max" da out, assuming you have a modern CPU with a semi-decent PSU.

Q9550 @ 3.6Ghz, 8GB RAM, nVidia GTX 285, Windows 7 x64. All settings at max at 1920x1200 with max AA...I've never noticed any stuttering or slowdown. Perhaps the OP's processor isn't up to the challenge?  I mean, the 9500 isn't a good gaming GPU, but at lowest settings the game should be playable unless the CPU is having a hard time.

The 8500 gt is a backup card at best. Or to run games that aren't as graphically intense as Dragon Age. Time to upgrade. I advise a Sapphire ATI 4870 from Ebay. However you will probably need a new power supply. I recommend a Zalmann 750 watts from newegg. Make sure under specification it says that it has 4 +12v rails.

Why?

You need the 4 +12v rails to make sure all systems on your computer are properly powered. Otherwise you might have a power failure which could damage your computer components. Happened to a $380 video card of mine so beware.

You could get the Nvidia one as well but the 4870 on Ebay for about the same price is way faster. Head on over to GPUreview.com and compare cards.

if you don't want to shop on Ebay shop on Newegg.com they are the best.

Sapphire Radeon 4850 HD 512 MB. Runs everything at max at 1280 x 1024. My DVI cable went bad back in October, and that's the max resolution on my 19" monitor with an analog adapter (ew).

"The nVidia one?"  Depending on which GPU you're talking about it could be faster or slower.
