The Carnifex does a bit more damage, but the Predator has a higher rate of fire and more ammo. Which one goes better with guns like the Viper, Revenant/Vidicator/Mattock, or Geth Plasma Shotgun?

If you use HeightenedAR the Carnifex/Phalanx is superior, due to the damage bonus for the one shot/dilation. The only thing I ever used a pistol for on a Soldier was, instant Cryo freeze, which is only do-able with Carnifex/Phalanx(pistol wise).
I like the Predator more on classes without ammo powers.

To be honest, they're both as bad as each other. Neither one will really ever do much beyond functioning as a backup weapon for the selection you mention, so I'd just pick whichever you like the look of. The carnifex does nice damage per shot but practically everything else about is awful, while the Pred has nice accuracy and ammo levels but basically shoots peas.
Personally I go for the Phalanx, every time. It's the only heavy pistol that actually stands on it's own merits.

Predator bar none.
Good clipsize, moderate firepower and with the HP Criticals addon has the potential to consistently outperform the Carnifex even in firepower. And in case of panic/professional disarray good enough RoF to spam a couple of rounds in your opponents general direction ...

I know the Carnifex does a bit more damage, but I like that the Predator has a higher rate of fire.

I dunno. If you're after rate of fire then you need to be looking at the submachine guns. The Locust largely renders the Predator redundant.
If you're playing a soldier, then... perhaps. I'd still question what you're getting from the Pred that you can't get from the Mattock, aside from extra bullets, but that's a question of preference, not stats.

The Revenant? Pistol really doesn't matter to be fair, you'll be running through everything with the LMG XD.
Personally I got with the Predetor. Mostly for the ammo you get and it's a god-send when your up against husts. Just use Cryo ammo and a single shot on an unarmoured husk is an instant freeze and 95% death.
Other times I use the Phalax, but the lesser equilient being the Carnifex.
Basically, do you want more damage ASAP, or do you mind spreading it out a bit more through more bullets?

I kinda feel like that I should go with the Predator for now, and then switch to the Carnifex when I get the Revenant.
