Uh, I kind of wish Mass Effect would stay as a game.

Mass Effect could be a movie, but Mass Effect 2 couldn't be adapted without some major changes. With the success of the 'A Game of Thrones' adaptation I think a TV adaptation wouldn't be such a bad idea.

The game's not going anywhere.

I prefer a TV series over a movie. WhY? Cause the ME universe is too vast to squeeze into 90-150 mins without leaving out alot.

I'd rather see a computer animated series than a live action movie or tv show, but America is apparently completely inept at marketing animated shows to more mature audiences, so who knows.

I really don't see why everything needs to be a movie anyway, movies are such a limited art form.

i don't want to see a movie or television version of mass effect. I would like to see a mass effect universe game where people can interact with others from around the world and everyone can make custom characters from various species. mass effect is a good video game franchise and I don't know why the majority of people that probably never even heard of mass effect would want to go see a movie inspired from it. i think it can only make for a good novel or a game.

Look I was an avid dbz fan until that movie ruined me to my core for the franchize but it was only because the director and producers knew nothing about dragonball(z) so that explains its failure. I support a mass effect movie only if hollywood gives bioware a great deal of influence on how the movies turns out. From my understanding its going to be a movie weither we like it or not so might as well sit back grab some ten dollar popcorn and watch the flick. Halo and gears and world of warcraft will be movies too so let's enjoy the madness.

Preferably not.

The increased production value on a movie tends for a better result plus I personally rather not see another Firefly-esque cancellation.
Not sure if there's enough to go on in the Mass Effect universe for a real movie actually - it's a fairly typical SciFi setting in my opinion.

Most likely its gonna be on how on the first contact war, our earthling human culture is captivated by war and conflicts.

It's inept at marketing anything but animated comedies to mature audiences. They really haven't tried making anything that would be considered dramatic in a while, not since the DCAU stuff ended with Justice League Unlimited.

If HBO makes it and gives it a great budget then I'm all in.

you mean watch the disaster. mass effect simply isn't a popular franchise in popular culture like star wars is. how many non-gamers have even heard of mass effect?? i don't think even halo could make for a good movie and that franchise is about as popular as a game is ever going to get. they will probably make them anyway but i will be surprised if they actually make money from what will probably cost many many millions to produce.

that would be terrible! the first contact war from the human perspective was barely worthy of a footnote in the codex. how could a complete movie be made to reflect that small part of the story? there is no real story involved in that. no main characters. no important struggle. only misunderstanding between an established council species and a newcomer to galactic space. it would be boring. a story based on the shepard/reaper struggle would be too long and any other story not related to the games wouldn't relate to the gamers and certainly not to those that never heard of mass effect. i would think the same problems would arise with a television show based on mass effect.

I'd rather they leave it alone. A movie by it's very nature is passive. Games are made to be interactive and immersive. Movies can't give you the feeling that you're actively making the decisions, that you are a part of the experience. Unless they start making movies where the audience votes on what the characters say or do like in Futurama.

I'm just saying hollyweird has a strong alien leaning movies now a days that its. Predictable what the plot will be. The first contact war has comic books based on it but a lot of its contentes aren't as tight as sheps story so it would be easy to twist and stretch out a little.

This. Mass Effect should only be a video game universe. If the movie comes out, it is going to be garbage. I am not going to even waste my time with it.

Simple, you do not have to look at.
Those who speak out against this new media, do not look and have fun with the game.  :D

I prefer Mass effect series, the time limit becomes less oppression, and the depth of history would be less narrowed.

The time, that what sucked in harry Potter. Many things removed, because of time limit.

I'd be down for a Genndy Tartakovsky animated serries. That would be a hell of a lot of fun.

As for live action, budget constraints would pose a lot of problems.

I'd rather a TV series. This FCW movie won't feel like ME because the ME games aren't about just Humans fighting one alien species, Turians. If you're going to make a ME movie it needs to be filled with different species working together, or at least in parallel. A FCW movie might as well be called Halo, where in the first game we're killing Elites and in the 3rd they're our allies. It would be too fast a transition for a movie franchise.

If they did a TV series, they should have viewers tune in a vote for Shepard's decisions before each new episode.
