I really hope the voice actor for the male shepard for me3 does alot better, while Jenifer Hale nailed her character Mark Meer was really weak  its really hard to play a male shepard cause it just sounds like hes reading a script half the time with no emotions or feelings

any thoughts comments concerns? :P

You mean there was a real voice actor behind male shepard? Damn, I just thought it was a robot.

I really hope Jennifer Hale picks up her act with her VO in ME3.
She was great in ME1 but in ME2 she always sounded either bored or horny.

Or both.

I like Meer's acting. His delivery is more even. It makes it so that when I pick opposing (paragon and renegade) lines, there's not a huge personality change.

edited to add: I love that I can still hear the emotional inflections. It's just usually more subtle than Hale's.

I really enjoyed Mark Meer, especially his renegade dialogue.

Mark Meer voice acting for me was pretty good and there is emotion in his voice especially in renegade dialogues.

Being borny is a serious problem and I for one believe a support group should be started for it.

Seriously though guys,  cut Meer some slack.  He's actually a damn good voice actor, they're just portaying Shepard as a bit emotionally vacant.

Meer was asked by Bioware to use a stoic type of voice. He is very talented and does the voice for the Vorcha after all.

Im glad Jen Hale had more freedom in the way she could display emotion though. It made for a great protagonist, so much so I find it quite difficult to play maleshep now.

Oh and I have no concerns about them!  They have proven they can perform and are very talented over two games. I cant wait to hear some of the deliveries in ME3

:)

His paragon voice sucks but he's a far better renegade then Hale.

Personally I'd prefer that they scrap them both and have no VO /unpopular opinion

I actually think that Hale is the one who needs improvement. I thought the same for Meer until LotSB and Arrival,he was awesome there and now he just needs to keep it up.

I like Meers even tone and delivery myself...he sounds as I would imagine an in charge soldier to sound....I can't take to the emotionaly fueled femShep myself, tried her a few times, but much prefer the even tone.

Mark Meer ROCKS. I like Hale also but she whispers too damn much.

Mark Meer's renegade performance is perfect. Hale is inconsistent. If you go from a paragon to a renegade line it's as if you're listening to a completely different person. That's why Meer went for a neutral performance.

I liked meers performance on some of the volus characters. He actually managed to make me laugh with the stoned semi-biotic volus and the volus posing as fade. He also made me laugh with his shepard-voice, but for the wrong reasons ^_^

I agree with this.

Playing with Hawke also made this approach and the wisdom of it a bit clearer as I was afraid to change tones due to the emotional whiplash that Hawke seemed to be going through.

I play a maleshep and I've yet to have a problem with the voice acting. I've listened to some of Hales stuff and it's not bad either, so meh!

Both have done fine jobs overall in the series. At times the leads voice acting can sound bland compared to other characters who have more freedom to express themselves. The leads have to make sure they don't go too far because they are voicing the player.

Not this thread again... It's called preference.

I like Mark Meer's work, a lot.
I hate what Hale does with FemShep. My ears bleed when I hear her doing FemShep, especially renegades.
I respect the actress ( I love the job she did with Bastilla and Bulletstorm) but FemShep, for me, is awful.

It's a matter of preference.

Pretty much this.

Which, incidentally, is the reason Jacob's romance is so hated.

Sorry, Meer does a good job in my book. And Hale doesn't.
