If you choose to save the Collector Base for Cerberus, Shepard and friends use a vibrating pulse that goes through the whole base, killing everything inside. But does this just kill the things inside or does it destroy them? Would there be bodies remaining or would those be completely disintegrated?

My question, inlying here, is this: If the pulse DOESN'T destroy the bodies... What do you think is the possibility of them Lazarus-ing either some collectors, the collector general, or even... One of your fallen squadmates (Perhaps chosen at random, if you lost one or more)?

I mean, hell, obviously they were successful with Lazarus with Shepard and now they know what they're doing (Miranda reports everything so if she's dead that's irrelevant) and can likely do it quicker than before when they were experimenting.  I mean, hell... If keeping the base means that Cerberus is a stronger enemy, YET they bring back one of your old squadmates, that'd be very interesting. Perhaps that squadmate is indebted to Cerberus and battle Shepard, Shepard either killing them again for that betrayal or defeating them and allowing them to join him. Of course, this is just a perk if you lost someone in the SM  and then saved the base... Otherwise, this isn't relevant. I know it's not likely to happen, but what the hell kind of twist would THAT be?

Imagine freaking Zaeed... "STILL can't keep me down!"

This would introduce an interesting aspect to Mass 2 as well...

"Hmm, who should I kill, and who would be the most likely to come back? Better not be that ****, Miranda. I should kill someone else off too, in addition to her. Let's kill off... Thane. Maybe the Lazarus Project will heal his Kepral's, too."

Legion likely wouldn't be a candidate for this, however. Perhaps they'd find his corpse-thing and take his memory out to put into a new platform? Hmm... Or just integrate him into Normandy with EDI. EDIxLegion romance for Mass 3!

All it is is a radiation purge. It could either mimic the sun and destroy all living things via complete molecular destruction or it could leave bodies.

The Lazarus project cost Cerberus 40 billion credits just to revive Shepard. Sure, a million was to operate the space station and another million to pay the workers. That is still 39,998,000,000 credits to bring one person back to life.

No, that's 39,998,000,000 to figure out how to bring someone back to life. Now that the hard part's done, it's like any other R&D for a new medical procedure: get rich suckers to pay way, way less. Lots of companies today spend billions of dollars on far less dramatic research: Cerberus is going to be making bank with its front companies.

(Also, 4 billion, not 40.)

Since hardware destruction (including computers) was pretty much the opposite of the point of the radiation pulse, I'd bet on bodies. But it's a bit academic, since a new batch of Collectors could be cloned straight up more likely than not.

I see the pulse vaporizing everything that is organic(dead or otherwise), leaving the base clean.

Why do you think it would vaporize only organic tissue? How exactly does a high-energy neutron burst "know" the difference between organic and non-organic substances? (I'm assuming the radiation blast is similar to the device used to clean the labs on Noveria, which was called a neutron purge)

Since it is a neutron radiation pulse, there would be bodies left over. The reason that neutron radiation primarily affects organic tissue but not most technology is because organic chemistry is far more unstable than what is used in most forms of technology. The radiation can cause huge amounts of DNA damage as well as essentially scorching cells by contributing a large ammount of energy in a short period of time.

To be honest, I don't know much about this type of science. All I know is if a squadmember died, that's it for them, period. No Lazarus for them.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutron_bomb

A bit if information about radiation weapons... though that article has alot of citations needed so I wouldn't trust it as far as I can throw it. Though there is just enough good info to get the general idea.
