Oh I've just finished Origins including Awakening and other campaings and my save is ready for import. I can't wait to play DA2 again with this DLC. I wish it came out earlier than 26th July... :/

It's spposed to be a story driven DLC...so why show us all again how the fighting looks?. Or is that too dull for a trailer? Or , or , or was a story driven DLC a ploy by BioWare just to get us interested?
I'm not in the last bit interested judging by that trailer.

Well, if it does have a good story, they can't really give it all away in the trailer.  They're even intentionally avoiding reference to the Architect, who looks very very similar to the 'Ancient Evil' that is teased.  I didn't think that trailer was any less story based than the trailer for, say, Lair of the Shadow Broker, or the Golems of Amgarrak.

I'm at least excited to see them get rid of 'wave' attack patterns, assuming it is removed and not just unseen in the gameplay videos so far.

That would be spoilers. They've given out about enough info about the story as they can without it being spoilers.

Bioware please don't pi** on all the lore you created in Dragon Age Origins...

What lore? Where does it say that the Grey Wardens are the most powerful beings on Thedas? Hawke's bloodline shows why he/she is powerful.

To be fair there are still some wave based encounters. However, enemies do not ever spawn out of thin air or drop down from the sky in a way that makes no sense - additionally, our usage of wave combat was DRASTICALLY lowered compared to DA2 main. I just don't want you to think that combat encounters with more than one group of enemies was completely abolished.

Not to mention the fact that it's pretty much standard for the hero to always defeat his foes. That's pretty much a given.

That’s awesome! I did not mind the wave encounters so much as the beaming down of enemies that eliminated
tactical placing of your party. I'm happy to see this was addressed.

A little off topic but why is it being released on a Tuesday? What is it with the gaming industry and Tuesday releases? A Friday release date would be so much nicer and save me from having to take of Wednesday! :innocent:

Quite possibly the best news I've read about DA2. Knowing this, I'm much more likely now to buy this DLC.

Well, he did drink a potion that Avernus was sending to the Wardens. And Avernus was researching how to refine the Joining ritual

Unless you decide to play this DLC before ever finding Avernus' elixer and drinking it.....

LOL

No no no.  They skillfully  rapel down  walls now.   and rise from the ground, and pop out of barrels and crates.

What if an ancestor of Hawke was a Warden? Didn't Morrigan say her child with the Warden would carry the taint?

And even if it might dwindle over generations, it would still be there. So, if Hawke had an ancestor who was a Warden, no matter how long ago that was he still has the taint in his blood. And thus Corypheus could sense it.

If we're talking about an ancestor from 2 thousand years ago, then Hawke wouldn't be his child, would he?  At least not in the context that Morrigan was talking about.   And if the taint is so powerful that it sticks around in the bloodline for dozens of generations, then we've got much  more absurd plot hole here.

But I seriously doubt all of that.   There's   exactly nothing, not a single line in the existing  lore to suggest that Hawke's father   (or grandfather) was  ever a warden.    But hey, if they suddenly want to reveal such a thing out of the blue, more power  to them.  It just seems cheap and desperate to me.  And unneccessary.... since there's already a bajillion  existing loose  ends from the first game, its expansion, and the second game that just  beg to be tied up/expanded upon  (Flemeth vs. Morrigan, the Old God Baby, The Harvester spawns, Lelianna and the seekers, the Idol;  etc. ) Do we really need yet another?

But nevermind me.  I'm so utterly not interested in any sort of DA2 DLC at the moment.  I'm not quite sure why I'm even reading this thread.  I'll leave now.

May I just give you a *HUGGLE* and say thanks? And pass that along to all who made sure that the waves from thin air or not making sense got axed. Thank you!

How is that a plot hole? I'm 6% Native American. My children will be Native American, their children will be Native American, and so on and so forth.

All we know is that the taint is deadly to the person who drank it. We have no clue if it will be deadly to a Warden's children.

Hawke's blood is key in the DLC. Corypheus can sense that his blood was used. The Mage Item pack's codexes hint that Malcolm had a troubled past. Bethany says Anders reminds her of Malcolm.

This may be thin, but it's not nonexistant.

As long as you don't say anyone who likes DA2 should re-evaluate that stance I'm not bothered.

I don't know, when Alistair talks to a Warden he's about to marry about children, he mentions that although the parents will have shorter lifespans, and have very low fertility rates, he doesn't mention anything about the taint being inheritable. Alistair is as surprised as everyone else when Morrigan's Dark Ritual comes up.

I always assumed Morrigan's God thing was created Tainted by design, as a part of the magic involved. Also related to the fact that the Old God "essence"(whatever that is) would bypass the Warden who did the killing, the other wardens nearby, the darkspawn and cross however much distance to reach this fetus. And that this "essence" would be an Old God, not an archdemon.

None of it makes any sense at all, but "it's magic, we don't have to explain it!" comes into play again...

I'm not even sure Morrigan's ritual was anything more than just sex before an Archdemon was killed.

She said the baby would carry the taint.

Also, I'm now thinking about this:

Archdemon: Dammit now I'm going to die. Alright get it over with Warden.
Warden: Just a minute, I need to take care of something.
Archdemon: More important than ending the Blight?
Hurlock Emissary: What could possibly be more important than that?
Warden: I have to have sex with this lovely lady and get her pregnant.
Archdemon: Okay..... well I'll be---- oh.... you're going to do it here? God damn....
*1 hour later*
Warden: Welp, since she just wanted me to get it over with I guess that'll do it. I wasn't ready to end it but she insisted! Now, where were we?

Ok, since this is completely Origins  (and witch hunt) related,   and since this is the second time you've said this,  I'm going to pop in here and respond.

Morrigan  specifically says that the baby would carry the  Essense of the Old God (the arch demon) and that the baby would be born with the SOUL of an Old God.  That's  not even remotely the same thing as  Darkspawn taint or what happens when anyone gets tainted by the darkspawn in battle, or drinks darkspawn blood in a joining.  It's something much more.  And more importantly, it's something fueled by a very specific, ritual-based magic, which is light years different than simply drinking some  darkspawn's blood  or  having the  taint enter your body by physical means.

She says, and I'm quoting verbatim here, "The child will bear the taint."

LOL yeah Ok. lets play the "cherry-pick-the-quotes" game to "win" on the internet.  We all know EXACTLY what Morrigan meant, and all of what she actually said.  There's no point to this silly conversation.

I'm done with you.

um.... okay? attitude much? I'm not trying to win anything. I'm just pointing out that she blatantly says the child will carry the taint.

And nothing is shown to lead me to believe that the "ritual" is anything more than just sex with a Warden.

Ah. Okay then. I wasn't on these forums when David Gaider made that comment, so I didn't know.

But I still say that Morrigan's Ritual showed nothing more than just sex with a Warden, so that's all the ritual appeared to be comprised of. Another instance of telling and not showing.
