 I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I searched and couldn't find any solution.
I just successfully imported a ME1 character to ME2.
I did the first mission on the missing colony and now I'm on the new Normandy, talking to the crew and stuff.
I tried to save but the option was grayed out.
I clicked on the load function to see if I could restart mission but there was nothing there so I canceled.
The save function became available but when I click on it I just get a blank save page that says:
"Save Games for
characterNameTxt
characterTypeTxt"

Anyone know how to resolve this? I'd really hate to restart and this is my only ME1 character.

Starting backwards as it were.

Even if this is your only ME character you should, I presume, have your ME saves available so you could always import again. That is unless you have deleted your ME saves, though the hidden file system the game used means it is still likely to be there anyway.

There are times when you can't save, though the description you give does not ring any bells for me. Sounds like something has gone wrong. Question though, if you go to the load screen and press 'Y' for other careers (I think it is) can you see any saves there?

Have you enabled the autosave function within the game? That you have no apparent save files may suggest that you haven't (and I can't remember whether it would be enabled as standard), and given the point in the game you are at you should have passed a few autosave checkpoints.

Not sure what else there is at this point, that's all I have for now.

EDIT: a quick online check would seem to suggest the problem is unique, i.e. I couldn't find another post having the same problem. Might be something you want official support on (or see if EA_AgentX knows something when they next show up).

When I pressed "Y" it only showed the other three careers from ME2 but not the one I just imported from ME1. Also, the autosave function was enabled but it hadn't autosaved anywhere yet. I don't think it was too early in the game to save since I remember I was able to save when I first got on the Normandy with my other characters.

Either way, I couldn't find anything so I had to close it and sadly, nothing was saved. I'll try to do it again but if the same thing happens, I'll just go back to ME1 and finish the game again from another save.

It could be the imported save from Mass Effect became corrupted during the importation. I would recommend some Xbox 360 troubleshooting found here:

You'll note a lot of this troubleshooting has to do with connectivity, but it can help to ensure you have the latest update for the console and the game. Once you have done this, go ahead and try to import the save again from Mass Effect 1 into your Mass Effect 2 game.

Sounds like what happened to me once..

Status: Glitched, cause unknown. Advice is to attempt to save the moment you complete this part of the game. If it does not allow you to, restart.

No known solution, just try again and check earlier

Thanks for your help guys. I just loaded an old save and continued from there. I imported and was able to save normally.
My first save file was probably corrupted.

But I have another problem. When you get into the captain's cabin, isn't there supposed to be a photo of the person you romanced in ME1 on your desk?
I romanced Kaidan but there is no photo. Maybe I'm too early in the game? Do I get it later?

Too early I believe. I wondered that myself on an imported game, but the photo did eventually show up for me.
