I tried real hard to justify picking Morinth over Samara. There really is not enough information to make educated decision, and many points usually made are just wild rationalizations of fanbase.

In the end, it just boils down to one specific question: Do you prefer larger bust or smoother skin complexion?
The life is simple, indeed.

Yeah, the choice to pick one over the other is very abrupt and the game doesn't give much compelling reason to pick her other than for the novelty of it. They should have made the targets she went after more grey instead of some innocent virgin girl with a weeping mother and/or Shepard somehow discovering dark secrets about Samara.

The whole situation is a damn shame as Morinth had the potential to be one of the greatest characters of ME2. Think about it, a sociopathic hedonistic sex murderer begrudgingly learing to look out for others as part of a team and becoming an unlikely saviour of the galaxy. That would have been awesome.

Instead what we get is a semi-joke situation where Morinth barely says anything more after recruitment and we essentially just replace Samara with.... Samara.

I'm something of a die-hard Renegade and I'd never spare Morinth logically.

I picked her in my pseudo-canon Shepard playthrough just to see what they'd do with her character in ME3. The same with killing Wrex just to see what they'll do with Wreav.

I don't have any high expections for either of course.

Of course, I'd enjoy to see what would happen with them around. However, statistically, they'd have no reason to really explore Morinth because there's probably a really low number of players who'd ever pick her. Made worse that you have to basically devote yourself 100% to one side.

The whole half-assed nature of Morinth's implementation as a squadmate leads to believe it was something thrown in at the last minute. That would explain the minimal dialogue and the inconsistency of Mordin/Grunt not being surprised to hear her natural voice on Tuchanka.

It sadly fits in with how a lot of the renegade path was handled like with the lack of a human-led council.

I spared Morinth once in my Renegade play through because Morinth seemed more powerful than Samara and my Renegade FemShep is all about creating the best team. Also personally as a player I didn't have too many strong feelings about Samara, so choosing to let her die never affected me that much.

Yay, Morinth thread resurrected! One of the best and most reliable characters! Go Morinth! I only chose Samara once to see what would happen, and I won't be happy if Morinth won't be explored as a character further.

Best sex in the world is the best sex in the world, if you die from it at least you know you died in pleasure. I can't think of any better way to go if you don't want to die in glorious battle.

I recruit Morinth for the same reasons the TC doesn't. The fact that she likes danger makes her very appealing, very opposite to my own personality.

The death of Samara was one of the most enjoyable cutscenes for me, too bad she didn't suffer more. The only time Samara survived, was so I could get her achievement.

Just saw an interview that said that ALL characters are going to be back in ME3, so Morinth is in. =)

I find it's easiest if you do Samara's loyalty mission as your first loyalty mission, with the extra P/R bonus skill. It didn't matter how many times I tried to calculate it with my last Renegon, just couldn't get the points to work right (had to re-do about 3 missions or so to experiment and just ran out of quests to gain morality points off of) but this time (another Renegon) was much easier.

I'm glad I did it, have always been hesitant about Morinth because I assumed she'd just be another crazy Jack on the team but was pleasantly surprised with her interest in Shepard.. which seems genuine and affectionate. She has some good dialogue, although it is in short supply, and her biotics are super useful.

And there is something sexy about her lust for danger and power, definitely getting more of a "bad boy" vibe from Morinth than Thane and it's a shame she can't be properly romanced (aside from the whole death-by-sex thing, I think it could be a rather interesting relationship.. kind of like hooking up with Rogue from X-men).

But it does seem likely that Morinth will be forgotten or hand-waved as Samara's replacement without much fanfaire given how popular she is and the difficulty in acquiring her. If the morality system of ME2 made any sort of sense at all, I'm sure more people would try her out.

The best way to deal with the morality bs in ME2 is to import a level 60 character, have the achievement that grants 25% bonus exp, max out the skill that gives you 100% bonus Paragon/Renegade points and use the Death Mask.
