This forum is a general catch all for any resource (keyword) that is created by the community to be used in a module or add-on.

So for example, any 2da questions probably belongs in here as it will likely involve adding something community created and/or altering an existing resource to match something the community wants.

Custom model work, custom audio (sound, music, VO), custom VFX creation (not counting the scripting components which obviously should go in the scripting forum).

There's a bit of a grey area as far as 3rd party tools used in the creation of said resources of course.  Personally, I'd like to see Projects created for any such tools and then announcements for it in the Projects announcement and recruitment forum, although cross-posting announcing such tools here would definitely be appropriate given their relevance to the creation of this material.

Also a note on the title of the forum...I'm not happy with Custom Content either, and I'm talking to the Biowebdudes about it.  I'm toying with the idea of:  "Community Created Assets"  but I'm not totally happy with the word 'Assets'.  Thoughts? Boojums?

It occurs to me that since there is an audio subforum it might be a good idea to have a visual subforum. Note you included custom audio up there which is probably wrong? Anyway, split off all the 3D modelling, vfx stuff, 3DS Max, texturing type people into their own visual subforum and what would be left?
2DAs, 3rd party tool questions/requests, technical stuff like file formats, seems like its all the data drive stuff. Certainly complex enough stuff to maintain a healthy subforum on its own and easier to name too :)

Maybe Engine Behavior Configuration or Technical Mechanics or some such and split the visual stuff off into a Visuals.

I'm attempting to kill the Audio forum and have it just folded into this forum.

Again, if things that you're describing become very active and flooding the forum, I'm happy to split off later...

Yes you're right. Wait to see how the traffic plays out. Maybe just Other or MIscellaneous then...

Coming from the NWN forums, I'm not opposed to calling it Custom Content. But I don't think we should have a seperate forum for 2das and other technical CC as some of those threads could, if things turn out like NWN, could be intertwined with art/audio CC. On that notre, there's no reason for an audio subforum, in my opinion.

Could we perhaps distinguish between cusom resources (e.g. audio, modelling etc) and custom rules (e.g. new classes, races, backgrounds, abilities etc)

 How about...

Toolset Custom Content
  • Releases [only finished addons ready to ship are allowed (pre 1.0 or betas allowed?) ]
  • Requests [only requests for custom content are allowed]
  • Projects [only announcements of new projects, cancellations of existing projects, and public organizing of project members and recruiting would be allowed]
  • Modder Resources [only publication(s) of modder resources such as models, textures, sounds, music, voice files; human resources would fall under Projects above, so voice actors should use Projects]
  • Tutorials [only guides for things related to toolset use, such as how to add models, how to add a class, make an area, etc.]

Releases and Requests could use their own main forum; Projects are already covered by the Project Announcement and Recruiting forum. Tutorials should be either on the  DA Toolset Wiki or linked to from it, if they are hosted elsewhere.

How is this going to be distinquished between existing content and custom content? I am currently at a loss of where to post a topic dealing with adding effects to placeables. For example; a firepit with no flames? How would I add flame to it?

Technically that would probably go in the level creation forum, since that is how you add vfx to scenes, in the level editor. You aren't actually adding an effect to a placeable. You are placing a firepit model, then placing a vfx "model". Custom content are things created via 2da editing and/or via external programs like 3dsMax or Photoshop.

Ok right then, as in more things I have no idea how to do, thanks. I will post it over at level editing then.
