So I was thinking about it, and I was wondering what some of your expectations for Dragon Age 3. What do you want to see, or what you don't want to see? What should stay, and what should go? And what should they do diffeent?

Personally I want the gameplay style from DA2 to stay, but the storty and look of everything from DA O to come back. Also I think they should take their time and make a massive game like Oblivion. Tune down the graphics so that the poor people can still play on their PC without forking over hundreds of dollars. Or at least leave them at Origins level. I liked having a voice in DA2, but hated that what the character said is totally different from what I told him to. Go back to the art style from Origins (especially the Darkspwan yuck). I would like to see more of my Warden and what happened to him after Witch Hunt. What about the God Child? Is the world going to turn into another Imperium with mages free and ruling over everyone else? That would be cool as I usually play as a mage ;) Where is the "Royal Bastard" Alastair now that he has been banashed. What about the therien bloodline? Stop trying to make Dragon Age into a cheap immitation of Mass Effect make it it's own thing. I loved the companions in DA2 much better the Origins ( except for Morrigan<3 ). The romances were well done in DA2, much better then Origins. The story from Origins kicked ****, and that was what made me play it all the way through so many times, even before I started playing on PC. Awakening was ok, could have done better with the companions, though Anders was pretty bad**** in it. Only to be made a whiny little ***** in DA2. Why was Lilliana a Seeker looking for the Champion and the Warden? Will Morrigan make an appereance? Or is she to be left out only for that old hag Flemith to take the spot light? If your Warden chose to spare Flemith, or if you didn't help Morrigan at all, did she take Morrigan's body after all? Or is she still waiting?

These are my expectations and unanswered questions. Leave yours and lets see what we can come up with ;)

To tell you the truth, i have no expectations for any AAA rpgs these days, the way things have become. But i realize that i'm old school and in the minority.

Ya sadly the genre has taken a turn for the worst but there's no harm in hoping right =) plus this is just for what you would like to see in the next game even though over half of it won't be there hahaha

I kinda trailed off reading the rest after "they should make a huge game like Oblivion" open world is not the be all and end all of RPG's i'd prefer focus on the story than making it open world so people have to spend hours walking around killing things to level up pointlessly.

As far as my expectations for DA3 a more focused plot would be nice. DA2 was all over the place and there was a severe lack of a real goal in the game to work towards and also a lack of a proper antagonist. I apeciate that they tried to do something different with DA2 but it really didn't work.

Ahh, they'll prolly do the same thing they did with DA2-a hastily slapped together development and then a poor attempt to cover it up with oversized breasts and a ton of love interests.

DA:3 most likely will go the same as ME:3 a mix of features from both. Pretty much everyone minus a few old school diehards, found combat smoother in DA:2 so I suspect it will return with a more plot central PC as in DA:O.

And Warlord I don't think you've ever seen over sized breasts son, cause the **** in bioware games, ain't. That or you live around small chested women. I'm not saying they arn't on the big end, but I've seen **** some guys like that makes me sick, and you would think was no way in hell possible.

As to "WA WA WA RPGs are changing". If some of you put down the Pen and Paper based games, you'ld see they never were a majority except in a small market. JRPG's are a perfect example of this, and they for the most tend to have sold pretty damn well.

I kinda lost interest reading that after "DA3". Mostly because this isn't the DA forum.

Hear Hear!

Also anytime you have an open world game like Oblivion, you just end up with copy and paste environments.

Oblivion style open world and Bioware don't mix. Bioware should stick to what it does best - story-driven rpgs.

I do suspect that DA3 will go back to a more traditional story-line, rather than the diffuse DA2-like plot - I think DA2 left off in a situation where it would not be difficult to create a story involving a major threat and clear goals.

I only hope that they take the major criticisms they have received for DA2, and don't commit the same errors.

As for battle-waves, I think they are practical, in that they allow for big battles without having so many characters on the battle field at the same time that you get lag on non-top-of-the-line computers. But they could be implemented better. Rather than dropping from empty air, enemies could run into the battle from behind corners, from bushes, or from building doorways.

Cross-class combos are nice, and I hope they keep that, but I don't know why they didn't have spell-combos in DA2 - they should bring those back.

The ridiculous exploding enemies should be left in the trashcan of failed ideas - in DA2 it seemed that enemies were like blood-filled water balloons under great pressure, that splattered at a pinprick.

Much less recycling of maps please.

The more customization of... everything, the better. More skills, more tallents, more, more, more - to be able to replay with novel combinations of choises.

That's my wishlist, I think.

To the OP: You really don't need to put 'spoiler alert' in the title of a post that is composed of speculation. Theories about what may be do not constitute spoilers.

That being said, I don't have an opinion. Ask me when we actually know something.

When I said "massive game like Oblivion" I didn't mean open world, it's just that that game had so much in it that it took me forever to finally complete it all the way through. Because there was so much content. A game that huge with a bioware story behind it would be awesome. Bethesda takes their time while making their games and they always end up as a great success!

You know I really couldnt give a rats arse about the Dragon Age series, Origins was enjoyable but far from great (and certainly nowhere near as good as some of Bioware's previous work) and DA2 was just a mess, unless Bioware and the Dragon Age team can get their act together and show me something that shows promise I dont think I will even bother with the next installment.

**** no, Bioware already pads out their games far too much as it is and they certainly wont commit the resources or the time necessary to make it work. If anything Bioware should focus on making a shorter but tighter game and drop a lot of the sidequests since it is clear that they are merely there to pad out the length of the game. If Bioware arent interested in putting the effort in to make the sidequests (or even quests related to the main storyline for that matter) both fun and interesting then they might as well not bother at all.

Who said they ever were a majority ?   But at least they actually used to make some.  Now it's all action, all the time.  Except for the indie dev here and there that still does them.

I don't know squat about them Jrpgs, nor did i ever care to.

I don't know if you were serious, but in the context of Dragon Age 2, this was freaking hliarious.

:D

Anyways, expectations for Dragon Age 3? Low. Very low.

I don't want an open world game, though.

No more of the same dungeons everywhere and make the dialog wheel better if they insist on keeping it!

Since they have no intention of going back to the un-voiced protagonist, I doubt we will get the freedom we did in Origins. I'm not expecting anything from Dragon Age: 3. Since I returned Dragon Age: 2 without playing it, I really don't care too much about the series anymore. I just hope that one day they will return to a system like Origins where we could choose races and backgrounds. I think Dragon Age: 3 will be a bigger mess than what Dragon Age: 2 sounded like.

I want to keep blowing stuff up with magic. Also, cuter outfits that look less like bathrobes. My mage should be stylish, dammit. Finally, I want a cuddly pet to replace that eyesore of a dog. Give me a wyrmling or maybe a rabbit.

DA2's basic gameplay and dialogue wheel are here to stay. No sense in wishing for drastic mechanical changes that will never happen.

Lol. As are mine. But I'll bite anyway:

-better level design, this is a biggie. They should look at TW1, TW2, ME1, Ego Draconis.
-jettison the hotrod art style. Hate it.
-play all three races again along with origin stories. This was awesome, talk about replay value.
-get rid of Hawke.
-no more random attacks when you travel by map.
-better side quests. This is just a nitpick though.

From Dragon Age Origins:
1) Warden
2) Morrigan
3) Ferelden

From Dragon Age 2:
1) The combat system
2) Merrill

As much as I liked Awakening, I'd rather just explore Ferelden, but in more detail. More cities and dungeons, but expanded ino more detail. Morrigan is my all time favorite character from the Dragon Age series, she has to be back.

I played DA2 for a grand total of three days, didn't even finish the game it sucked that bad, but in all its dismay there were two bright spots. A) the new combat system was faster paced and brough the player actually into the fight than just hitting A once. And B) Merrill. The second best character in the Dragon Age series.

NO HAWKE! The whole lore of Dragon Age Origins was tarnished in DA2. The story was based around a player being a GREY WARDEN. Fighting darkspawn and saving people is what Grey Wardens do. But then in DA2, Hawke isn't even a Grey Warden. And you barely fight any darkspawn.
What the hell Bioware! Your schemes and decisions for DA2 blew ass.

DA2 could have been a great game, if they would have included the Grey Warden. And had like a story with a Ancient God under the city of Kirkwall. They could have tied it into DAO but just refused to have any connections to it at all made the game a total waste to even buy.
