Ah yes, another same sex romance thread.
As a straight male gamer I support the inclusion of same sex romance options in games as an option. I wont use the option myself, but theres no reason to exclude the option at all.
BUT
I just don't want the game to unrealistically portray every romanceable character as bi.well put

The article is irrelevant now since they ARE introducing new characters to be LI's, and I would be fine if a character came out in the third act if there was any indication whatsoever that they could have swung that way in the previous two. Otherwise, it just seems inconsistant to me I'm sorry. I would be fine with Garrus, Kasumi, or Jack being s/s LI's since with Garrus the relationship seems to be more him being attracted to Shepard's mind rather than her physical appearance anyway, we don't know as much about Kasumi, and Jack has been with at least one woman in the past. I would maybe be okay with Mordin since he said that if he were to try human he would try Shep (to a human male) but I think that would be rather silly since salarians have such a low sex drive and generally see relationships as impractical. For the most part though, I just want new LI's to be the s/s options.
For the record, before I say anything else, I too want new characters to be the s/s LI's. Or maybe previously unromancable characters (Joker maybe... juuuust out the blue with absolutely no bias or personal infatuation with seth green no none at all...)
But I'll pose a question since we're back on the subject of consistency and previous indications whatsoever that they could swing that way.
Was there ever any indication that there could be non-hostile Geth?
It's been a while since I played ME1 and I am totally open to the possibility that I missed something.
If not, a follow up question.
Would you consider Legion an inconsistency or a new piece of information?
You got me on that one. Well played sir, well played. I wouldn't throw a fit if Kaidan/Ash or someone ended up bi (I was really hoping Kaidan would be back in ME1) but it just feels like too little too late. If you have an old LI just now become available, it feels like the people who do a s/s romance got cheated out of 2/3's of the romance.

I know that it will have no impact on the playabilty of the game and I accept that.... what I don't want to is to have to fend off advances from SS characters while enjoying my game ... a personal choice....mine...none elses ..... and you do have a point regards the downloadable content ....perhaps an option to toggle on/off ....
And I love how you all seem to think Im scared of it...a typical misconception ... I just enjoy the escapist aspect of the game and for myself it just detracts from the experience
Fair enough.
And I don't think you're scared. I think you're worrying too much. Heck, in ME1 I was steady trying to romance Kaidan, but it was set at certain intervals. If those criteria weren't met, all I got was a , "I've wasted enuf of ur time, Commander."<_<

That's exactly why I don't want old LI's to be the new s/s romances. Not exclusively at least.Fidget6 wrote...

If I'm not getting the epic three game romance arc then those characters are on the same playing field as any other third act romance.

I can agree with that point, but I would take it a step further, and say that I don't want to fight off advances from any relationships, straight or gay/lesbian. In the past, there seemed to be this "relationship or no more conversation options" dilemna with the squadmates. Then the other "auto-flirt" conversations with Jacob as femshep. However, i have to believe that Bioware will get better and better with this aspect. I take DA2 as a model for what ME3 would have to be, with clearly labeled friendship/romance conversation options. Aside from Anders situation where it was flirt or rival points, I think this worked perfectly as i never got ninja romanced into anything.
Again, i don't believe this to be just a s/s or straight relationship problem, but a problem with how easily relationships were initiated in ME games. I have a male and female shep saves with no relationships because I wanted to keep a character single (however i may explore the new s/s options!).

And you won't. Casey has said that characters will react based on whether you flirt with them or not. If you don't flirt with Garrus, you won't have to worry about him hitting on you.

This really bothers me when people ask for a toggle. It makes no sense. Just don't pick the option.

And this is where it gets confusing. Having the option to flirt with another man detracts from the overall experience? It's not like Casey will be standing behind you with a gun to your head as you play, saying, "You'd better pick that flirt option the next time you talk to Kaidan!" If you don't want your Shepard to be gay, don't flirt with other men. Honestly, just because the option is there doesn't mean you have to do it.

The implications are that being "gay" is somehow more "bad" than being a war criminal, or that a Garrus who may have snuggle-bunnies with male Shepard is worse than a vigilante Garrus who would blast a man's skull open in a crowded terminal.

How many threads have we got up till now about this?
Probably over 20.
It'd be nice if we had some more information, at least so every thread won't dissolve into 12 pages of arguments.
