im write at the beginning of the game and im trying to write the greater malison spell to imoens mage book but when i do it does not appear on the level 4 page, any ideas???

Unless you are playing on easy level there is a chance for spell scribing failure. Did you notice the message when you tried to write it? She has 17 INT, which means she has a 75% chance of learning the spell (and 25% of failing - you lose the scroll if she fails).

well it told me the spell had been written to the book and if i try and write it again it tells me i already have the spwll

Have you already learnt 24 level 4 spells so that there's no room for more to display on the screen?

Good idea Grond0 - if that's the case he should delete level 4 spells he will never use then he will see it.

no ive only got 4 level 4 spells

Did you trying saving the game, exit the program, re-enter and reload your game and then check your spell book? Just in case it's some sort of refresh problem.

Forgive me if I sound pedantic, but just want to help - did you mouse over every icon in Imoen's spell book (she is highlighted right doing this?) and press TAB in case the icon for greater malison is not what you are expecting?

yes i have done all that, i appreciate your trying to help me, im finding this problem very frustrating,also just to let you know, i have written all the other level 4 charm/enchantment spells and they all show on the page except this one

Are you familiar with Shadowkeeper, the BG 2 saved game editor? Perhaps you can edit Imoen and delete greater malison from there, and then re-add in game and see if you can see it then.

If that doesn't work the other thing you could do is assign the spell to a hot-key (you can do this in the game or in config). Then, even if you can't see the spell in her spell-book, you should still be able to cast it.

You could upload the Gam and Sav files from a save game file that is affected by this problem. We might be able to see what the problem is.
