I wish Bioware would just answer if Anderson just steps down as Councilor after ME2 or not.

In the third book (I think) he goes back to the army, which would mean that he steps down. BUT he isn't councillor in the books.

After reading #1 on this list, I no longer have any interest in reading the novels: Mary Sues are not my thing.

As to Halo- I must confess that the "dude" factor has kept me away more
effectively than if Bungie had issued a restraining order.  Maybe one
day I'll get over my admittedly unattractive predjudice and try it out.

"Dude" factor?

Sorry- a phrase someone coined a while back in my past.  I was a linguist in the army for 6 years after I found myself unable to focus in college, and most of the intel community where I trained were the same brand of pseudo-geek as  myself.  This means most of them were into books, literature, and games of some sort, but the guys who were super into halo and had their enitre barracks floor wired up to play co-op were mostly the ones that used "Duuuuuuuuuuuuudddddde!" with various tones and inflections to communicate any emotional response they might have.  These are also the guys that called everyone "Bro" all the time.  My friends and I came to refer to this as the "dude effect" and, even though I know I know it's terribly biased and prejudicial of me, I can't help but equate the die hard fans of halo (and, for the same reason, COD and it's clones) with those sterling examples of manhood from my past.

Did you mean #10?  If so, it gets better(worse?); she's supposed to be a natual blonde, which is said to be extremely rare in the ME universe.

... not that it isn't already.:(

Ah, well... that's too bad, though I can see where you are coming from.

I admit that I have no love for Halo's gameplay, but I thought the characters and story were worth it.

Oops, yes I meant #10, thanks.

I wouldn't go as far as to call her a Mary Sue but, to me, she isn't flawed enough to become an interesting character. Sadly Gillian is in the same camp as Kahlee.

I felt the character of Paul Grayson was better written though.

Nah, she's pretty much a Mary Sue: every male of note in proximity is attracted to her, she's super-smart, isn't bound by petty rules, never compromises her morality, never has not compromising her morality not work out, etc.

Hendel Mitra isn't.

Okay so...

1. Kahlee is a Mary Sue that isn't nearly as loved by the in-universe PR team as she is by her author considering no one in the games mentions her despite her having her hand in multiple plot cookie jars. Maybe its the condensed nature of the overview, but 'right place, right time' much?

2. We're expected to believe TIM might be indoctrinated even though that makes approximately zero sense given the plot of ME2. There's no way this could be pulled off and not seem completely contrived.

3. What's the point of giving us choices of plot points if they're just going to be undermined and reversed? It's preferable to not have a choice at all than to be told you get to influence the outcome only for your desires to be overridden.

Informative, but the author is really forcing the Femshep issue.

Thanks, Chris, for bringing the article to our attention. I've already read a fair amount of the other ME media, but it's nice to get synopses that focus on information that may be significant for ME 3.

However, isn't the relevance of these sources external to the game is largely a matter of conjecture, unless Newsarama is speaking as a source with an inside scoop?

Still, it's nice to have some enriching context for fans who want to take it to that level, but I'm sure gamers will do just as well without.

And I agree about Kahlee Sanders, she was so...meh.

So basically, the ME world is so screwed over the only way to make it better is to either completely start over (let the Reapers win) or....nope there is no other way. The amount of facepalm Shepard would do if s/he heard about all this would lead to permanent brain damage.

Reading that just made me go "Screw it. Y'all ain't worth saving. Peace. I'm now entering my safety bunker with the love interest of my choice." :)

Also, I know you have to make a story fit for the third game, but I made Anderson the Councilor for a reason. You could have just told me that was the wrong choice or not give it to me at all. But it makes sense for TIM to have a backup plan for me blowing the Reaper Base sky high.  I don't like it and want to punch his smug face in, but it makes sense. He's the Devil with glowing eyes. <_<

Nothing from the novels and comics matters.

If it's not in the game, it doesn't count.

As someone said earlier, what's in the games are only things that Shepard knows about. If the things from the comics/novels show up, we'd get a short version, like how Liara summed up all the important facts we need to know about Redemption for Mass Effect 2 and Lair of the Shadow Broker to make sense.

So what we learned is

1. Whatever you choose in the end of ME1, we get Udina, that jerk. Thanks for the illusion of choice!

2. Cerberus (and sometimes the alliance) screws up more things for humanity and the galaxy than all the bad races of the galaxy put together, yes even more than those nasty batarians.

3. The Mary Sue from the novels named Kahlee Sanders might actually be seen in the 3rd game, maybe??

4. There is this uber racist, waste of skin human called Kai Leng we can put out of his misery in ME3.

We also learn

There are some disgruntled RPGeeks who resent the attempts to create a complex mythology with stories to tell throughout multiple forms of media. They egomaniacally insist that the ME universe start and stop for their precious avatars.

The FemShep legion have an annoying tendency to "force the issue", even if their VG journalists who are supposed to  have an air of unbiased neutrality.

I suppose the whole Udina thing makes sense because they have to have someone as councilor out of the games and Anderson seems to be a bit more active than the other politicians in terms of fighting the Reapers/Geth/Cerberus. I wonder how it will play out if Anderson was made councilor and was left on Earth if that situation is allowed in ME3?

Hope this means I will see Kahlee and Gilian in ME3. Even Hendel, that one biotic badass security guard person...the, uh, homosexual one.

That article has as much wrong, speculative or outright biased as it has factual content.

Hendel is a Sentinel, so if you're a soldier who let Kaidan die on Virmire and failed to secure Miranda's loyalty, then he could take up the slack in that regard.

Gillian's role in Deception has me thinking that a bad end for the Idenna is on the horizon.

I saw the first page of the article, and decided I want to read everything for myself. I'm not sure if this has been asked since I skipped most of the comments to avoid spoilers, but can anyone give me a timeline/order to read the books and comics in?
