Mass Effect Anime - Please No

Neither Halo nor Mass Effect deserve to be poorly drawn. Niether are the slightest bit Japanese, either. One of my favourite video games has already been tarnished by idiots who have never played it, or so it would seem. I can only hope the other never suffers the same fate.

I swear to God, if the Mass effect franchise ever gets the Halo: Legends treatment... I believe I might just need to kill myself. The movie being made by Legendary Pictures is anime-style, apparently, yet the higher-ups of BioWare are signed on for quality control, and for good reason I have learned to trust their judgement. It's not simply the look of anime that fails - although the eye size, lack of noses and disproportionate everything is somewhat disturbing - but everything else is embarrassing as well - voice acting, the dialog, the storyline and, half the time, even the framerate is reminiscent of the first, budget episodes of Pokemon.

LOL what you say is pure nonsense.
First, Halo Legends was not drawn by 1 person or 1 studio, it was made by several studios and each part of Halo Legends was drawn in an unique style. Some parts where more generic than others, but most parts where really well drawn.
Second, the framerate of Japanese anime is exactly the same as western animation. Both run at 25 fps but the more complex animations run on so-called "doubles" which means those parts are animated at 12,5fps.
Third, the Japanese are known as the best animators and painters in the world. Most western animations simply cannot cope to the quality of the Japanese. Most modern American cartoons are a joke. Most serious Japanese animes are pure art, especially the hand-drawn backgrounds that actually are painted with real paint in real canvas.
Finally, have you ever seen The Animatrix? The Animatrix was also made by a team of 7 Japanese animation studios, just like Halo Legends. The Animatrix was amazing and most parts where beautifully animated! The voice-acting was also really superb, both English and Japanese voice-acting was well done in The Animatrix.
Look at this and tell me that it isn't beautifully made: CLICK ME

But NOT for Mass Effect.Though ME has elements of cyberpunk here and there, it is solidly an old school Western Space Opera. The Animatrix suited the Asian concepts and views on technology espoused in the matrix's philosophy as well as the martial arts. I think it doesn't suit ME really. I'm against the idea.
Pity the Animatrix was the only good thing to come out of those sequels. They make baby jesus cry otherwise.

An anime with the quality of say, Ghost in the Shell or Cowboy Bebop would rock my socks.
I'm not sure if Mass Effect will be able to match the quality of GitS. Call me sceptical if you will...

I'd like to see it try. I think it's got the potential, at least.

It was decent kids fare I suppose. Better than half the kids show rubbish out there today. Can't watch more than an episode in a row though, gets a bit bleh but one every now and then is fine.
Titan A.E.
Yeah that film OWNS as far as family friendly sci fi goes. Shame its not as remembeed as it should be.

I disagree. My favorite part of The Animatrix was the part that I linked in my previous post: The Second Renaissance.
That part doesn't have martial arts or anything Japanese, it's 100% cold bloody and horrible warfare against the machines. When I watched The Seond Renaissance again when I posted my previous comment, I couldn't help but thinking how awesome it would be to see something similar with Mass Effect, the humans v.s the reapers.
And yes, only the original Matrix and the Animatrix are good. The 2nd and 3rd movie sucked, I as a huge Matrix fan agree.

I also meant general Asian philosophies on the soul, machines, yadda yadda yadda. The repeated lotus flower imagery, bla bla. This would work with the Geth angle, hell it would kinda be an obvious retread but the whole idea of the Matrix was a recycling of oriental culture to a Western marketplace joining it with Christo-Judaic ideas. Have some good articles on the subject if you want to read them...though if you're really nice you won't since I'm a very lazy man!
Just think that Mass Effect has more in common with say Star Trek and BG than GitS...Don't mention Akira though (shudder)

Let me tell you OP, this thread is pointless. Why? Because you don't HAVE to watch it. Problem solved. It's not for people who hate anime, it's for the people who want backstory and want to learn more about the series in general. /thread
Pretty much this. I'm not a fan of anime. Some of it I despise. A Mass Effect anime? Don’t really care. I’m not going to watch it. If others enjoy it, that’s great. More power to them.

BTW does anyone know the status or whatever happened to the Dragon Age anime that was announced a few years ago?

Though I'm not overly nuts for the idea but would probably shrug and maybe check it out for ****s and giggles I get that some fans get very attached to their object of attention (completely normal for fandom) and get very invested in every new growth it takes in shape. They can voice their concerns as much as they like. As long as its not my keyboard they're wearing out!

I mean, even if I don't like ''clichés'' animes, and only a slight few of them appealed me, how can a Western Space Opera Roleplaying game can be ported into a Japanese animation show ? Maybe if BioWare write the script and forces the story to the animators... but even there : I can't imagine a game with a ''realistic'' character design (for humans) being ported to a Japanese animation media filled of clichés : massive eyes, almost no nose, huge heads, over-the-top haircuts...
NO !

What I would personally like to see is an anime depiction of the fall of the protheans, narrated by Vigil. That would be insanely cool.
