The Vanguard is fun in both games, it's a great class.

Charge would take a bit to get used to, but not too much, and that's mostly to learn the quirks in the levels and target acquisition.

So do you want help with builds or different missions / assignments?

I can provide links to build recommendations for both Shepard and squad in ME 1&2. Also, I can give some tips for most areas in both games.

Vanguard with singularity plays like a better version of the Adept in ME1. In ME2 it is a bit tougher, but once you get the a grip of the battlefields and your passive/heavy charge, you becoming a biotic wrecking ball.

Ever so slightly better. Once you get to a high level and have a good amp, the difference is not really all that noticable. It wasn't to me anyway. I love playing both classes for the same reason.

In ME2, I still love both classes, but I find Vanguards easier to play (please don't hurt me Vanguard fans ).

In ME1, the best squad mix is to bring Tali and Liara, but that's more on higher levels to lockdown enemies, since you should have some mods to improve cooldowns and with Tali have invested in AI Hacking, this squad can dish out some pwnage even on Insanity.

In ME2, you might want to favor a squad that lets you set up warp bombs, such as Miranda and/or Thane. You can use Slam or Pull with them.
