We don't need another Hero..we just need to know the road home, Warden.

Why is it that people obsess so much over the Warden? The Grey Warden's story has been told; it's over and done with. Show me something new - a new story in a new location, with new characters. If BioWare just rehashed the Warden over and over again they'd be like one of those "has-been" bands that tour the albums they made 20 years ago.

Just because DA2 failed doesn't mean roleplaying a voiced protagonist will never work. DA2 was just an abysmal failure at trying to get it to work. But it's also different for the person. I guess a toggle for voice on and off should be implemented, but mouth movements should be kept.

If they do implement the ability to turn off the voice, I would hope that the associated cinematics would be gone as well.  If you have to watch their animations of your character delivering lines, you may as well be listening to the voice.

I would also like to have the possible responses on a list, or at least have them fully written out on the dialogue wheel.

I don't really expect any of this to happen, but I guess we'll see.

Nice comment Darth Wraith... I agree totally. So many groups I can name, not enough brain alertness to name them!

I dont get why the a voiceless protagonist with no expressions on their face should be brought back. Even if you don't like Hawke still a new one seems better for me...

You know, I am getting pretty sick of this nosensical argument. I am replaying DAO, and my Warden has expressions (ie when Eleanor opens the bedroom door, she shows shock at seeing her mother, etc). The Warden is not completely expressionless, and it is bull**** as an argument.

Did the Warden have as many as you would have liked? Guess not. Did you spend time looking at the Warden's shoulder (not the back of their head as that bull**** argument gets bandied about either, the shoulder as the camera is focused on the NPC, not the Warden)? Yep.

Overreact much?

If I would be sick at all the nonsensical arguments thrown around here why everything about Hawke is bad just because people prefer DAO it would be really bad for my health. Maybe you should try to take it not so serious.

I did not even support a fully argumented statement. And okay maybe not perfectly expressionless, I should have said "mostly-expressionless". But also to take the one thing out of my statement would be pointless.

The bring the Warden back argument is really lame, because everyone creates their own Warden and every Warden is different, so you could argument that the Warden doesn't really have a personality (the only one you give it). Therefore the Warden could be replaced by any character you can "mould" from scratch. He/she is perfectly and utterly replaceable, so I don't understand all the fuss about bringing him/her back.

Thedas need a hero, it doesn't matter who it is, The Warden did her/his job and we were told by bioware that his/her story ended when it sank the blade on the archdemon. The end.

Like it or not we have hawke he/she is a champion of kirkwall, he/she will champion templars or mages by the end of the game. Hawke has introduce to us many new experience of how templars and mages lives in others places/towers, we were introduce to Kirkwall a free city that was over run by ( bad people).
I'll like to continue learning about the world, "always wishing to find out if Andraste and her (bard)" were mages. hehe! Thats will be a twist!
Any way soemtimes I feel we need to stick to one hero and see the world unveil in this hero's eyes, The hero has to be part of it like an arm or leg, kinda like the warden felts.
I want to know what is going to happen with hawke and companion after the last battle..

We'll have to wait and see what bioware is going to do with the serie, and then I'll choose on taking more dumb leaps of faith or grab my blue-unicorn and leave thedas, for good.

You wouldn't want to see the mouth movements because it would make you think of a voice you turned off?

If that's the case, I don't see how that would make it harder for a person to roleplay. At least you could see the lines being delivered with no voice, allowing you to still imagine the voice of your character, while also not having to wonder if your character is communicating telepathically with other people.

Keeping mouth movements without VO would be just bizarre. Particularly since facial animations aren't all that good yet.

@TEWR:
Because the conversations would roll more smoothly if the associated cinematics would be gone? Seeing the character just open his mouth without words coming out could be even worse than voiced protagonist.. The conversations could be pretty awkward-looking (not to say conversations with a silent protagonist without cinematics aren't but not to the same degree that with cinematics I would guess)..

Choices, if players want to see the character moving the mouth and not sound coming out of them is their choice, I love the helm toggle choice btw, so i see no harm to give this option with voices, is true they lose all the short movies voices, but who cares, is their choice and their character can always use a helm when talking or drinking! Oh i forgot that every talking btw characters will remove the helms.. oh well .. lol.

They will pay for the full game anyway.

Oh get over the damn warden already!

No.  The Warden was customizable and unique.  You could choose their race and background.  That was half the fun of Origins.  Playing as a human all the time is missing the point, and quite boring.

It would have been fine with me if the Warden had vanished into the sunset, but he was said to disappear at the end of both Awakenings and DA2. Not just the Warden, but Hawke as well. It was also said at the end of the story that the warden's tale is not done yet. If you're going to make him disappear, he has to reappear or go into the reasons for his absence at some point. Otherwise, you'll lose a lot of fans that might otherwise buy DA3. I certainly won't buy it if this doesn't get a resolution.
