Hey, guys. I've beaten the game a few times and I'm about to tackle it on Nightmare now. I'm going with a DW Rogue. I'm going Assassin and I'm not sure if I should go Shadow or Duelist for the 2nd spec. I usually go with Shadow, which is what I'm thinking to take threat off, but I may want to go Duelist for extra survivability with Parry earlier in the game. I usually get around 42ish dexterity to equip the Low Blade (Which leads to question later on), and the rest into Cunning (Outside of a few points into Willpower and Constitution). Is that the way I should do it on Nightmare? If not, please correct me.

Then, as for equipment, what should I use?

I have the Rogue Item DLC, so should I, end game, be using The Black Fox's Jerkin or Arms of the Champion?

Arms of the Champion provides more armor, the same critical chance%, but adds 16% critical damage. The Black Fox's Jerkin offers the same critical chance, 6%, +2 all attributes and +5% attack speed.

I usually use Stealth Boots, Gloves of the Champion (I think), and Jasmine Cutty's Wrap.

As for accessories, I really use whatever I can find. I use The Ring of No Wishes (From the Black Emporium, I think it's called), and a couple of other things I forget the name of. I don't feel like those are the best in the game, so I'll really need some help here please.

Thank you for the help.

shadow gives more survivability than duelist. also, shadow gives a lot more damage than duelist. but if you want vendetta/to follow Arelex's build than an assassin duelist can work.

optimal cunning vs dex will vary as you progress. generally speaking it's better to pump dex early game and can sometimes (not always) be better to pump cun later on (at 100% crit chance). there's no need to pump any willpower or constitution, but maybe that's just me.

equipment-wise I would say that it's largely up to you. I personally prefer the Black Fox's Jerkin as the 5% increase to dps (from attackspeed) probably helps more than 14% more crit damage and the +1 base damage may even do more for dps/spike damage (though I haven't done the calcs to prove it).

The etched ring is useful for its critical damage and knockback resistance (less so post-patch) and if you decide not to get the ring of no wishes you can always get the puzzle ring of the black fox.
The seven deadly cinch is probably the best belt- though the belt of promise is handy for a bit of durability.

Do what mr_afk said.

Anyway +5% attack speed is NOT = +5% dps

e.g.

You have 100 dps, now you add the +5% bonus. You will get 100*1.05 = 105 dps (+5% dps).
But now consider you rogue is under the effect of double Haste (+100 attack speed), it would be 100 * 2.00 = 200 dps, and with the bonus it would be 100 * 2.05 = 205 dps (+2.5% dps).

So it gives you +5% of your base dps (the one that shows in the inventory screen) and not +5% of your actual dps.

Thanks for the help everybody. I'll definitely be using this advice.

For weapons, what would y'all recommend? Should I use The Low Blade or Finesse or should I keep using Beraht's Revenge and Jarvia's Shank?

@andraip. I'm talking about my solo run- I don't get the benefit of haste. but yeah, when you consider haste etc. it won't have such an extreme effect but should still be decent..

weapons-wise i think that alternating between the low blade paired with beraht's revenge and maker's kiss and shadow's claw should be the best. though you may have problems affording it. (so instead of a spirit set maybe a spirit/physical pair could work)

pre-act 3 berhat's is awesome (only elemental weapon) and jarvia's dex bonus is handy
