Tell someone higher up if your not an expert at connection/toolset database or so problems. If you know a solution cause you had a similar problem, help me! Otherwise, please tell someone you know that knows! I am depending on you, cause I sure don't know anyone here and no one knows me so who's going to help me?
Ok, Yeah, the toolset problem. I have only 1 hour of pc time in the day, and right now on my last 10 minutes so I will sum this up
I bought a computer with Windows activation. Time later, Rundll and schvost caused my system to crash and required a techy to fix it. It got fixed, and was working on windows vista with Dragon Age and the Toolset all working properly. Vista was 64 bit. However, my computer activation key went corrupt, so I had to buy a new one. That wouldn't fix the problem, but upgrading to Windows 7 did. Then the problem came back... failing to activate windows this time. So I upgraded with a new key to Proffessional Version. No problems since. Windows 7 is 32 bit.
Now I reinstalled for the third time Dragon Age: Origins in the same folder as always on my travel drive (oddly takes the same amount of time... but recognizes Awakening there too since I installed it as well from Windows Vista.)
That was yesterday... and I left the computer installing.
I got on today and got an error message saying that the computer recovered from unexpected shutdown. The game seems to be fully installed (cause I already installed it on the travel drive)
Now I installed the toolset. But I installed it without selecting it to Restore the database (which I thought would wipe out my previous creations). I kept the use default database selected. The toolset installed properly without error... As well as the SQL thingy.
Then the database thing came up when I ran the toolset.
It says every time, when I try to run application as administrater or as anything:
Unable to connect to the database.
That is all it says... except for checking the config and going to this forum.
I checked the config.
All things normal/default (I believed)... I ran it again.
Unable to connect to the database.
Apparently, the BWDATOOLSET servername was there, but nothing appeared in the dropdown box in the Servername! Below it, the bw_dragonage_something was there as a database, and in the drop down box, said master, msdb, and tempdb. I tested it it as it was, and it gave me an error... could not connect to database.
So, I changed bw_dragonage_toolset to master. Test says it was sucessful. I saved the settings, and ran the thing again.
Unable to connect to the database.
I went back and checked it again. I tried the other two msdb and tempdb.
Unable to connect to batabase.
I checked it against the Regedt32 databaseconnection... paths were the same.
I went back and ran it again
Unable to connect to the database.
I tried putting in SQLEXPRESS.
Invalid database. server does not exist.
Grrrr....
I haven't tried anything else... I got other stuff I need to do here, but I really would like this thing to work as it did before. I got stuff to edit.
So long story short...
I need help, so if you guys looking at this and know, tell me. But make it step by step... I don't understand long drawn out instructions.
Nothing that involves changing, adding, or deleting system settings please! I already crashed 14 computers (and counting) thanks to that!
No Antivirus software and firewall solutions... unless you are sure of it (That's how 7 of my computers crashed... a weakened immune system allowed an infiltrator virus thanks to tweaking the settings!) and it won't affect immulity!
I am not allowed access to giving or changing application/folder rights (allow deny privaledges)... even though I am the Administrator. (Stupid post XP system setup!)
And...
Windows User Control won't shut off! (Another stupid setting!)
There are no viruses in my computer... I triple checked everything and every folder and file with my antivirus (total coverage) software.
