that picture doesnt go with the description. kei leng is a cerberus assasin, and james sanders(vega) is a hardcore alliance soilder.

I know. I'm saying this is what I found in that thread. Ignore the description.

Shepard fought a Yahg in close quarters and it wasn't actually one sided at all.

He punched and the Yahg punched back. Then they pushed each other.
Don't compare that to actually being good at hand to hand fighting.

Also Shepard has very similar training to Kai Leng. Remember they were both N7.

True but it's entirely possible that Shepard didn't do so well in unarmed combat as Leng.

Hell knocking out a Krogan Battlemaster in one strike beats killing one random Krogan.

Sorry, what?
You're refering to when Shepard knocks out Wrex?
Well, we know that Shepard has insane strength. Punching out two fully armored guards proves it.
But it's Shepard's strength versus Leng's speed and skill and it's possible that Leng has enhanced strength now as well. My money's on Leng.

Thanks for posting it over here, but I could've sworn there was a bigger version. I'll go searching.

Edit: Here's one: http://i54.tinypic.com/2h3scgw.jpg It still sort of looks like the Cerberus logo, but maybe I'm just seeing things.

Betting against the protagonist is never a good bet.

I don't believe this refers to James Sanders. I have the Game Informer Magazine this is from, and they are more seperated, and the Reaperized dark Jedi picture is distinctly under the "Know You Enemies" part of the story, and that picture in no way describes James Sanders. I am not sure if you posted the picture with the intent to associate the picture with Sanders, but in any case I'd just thought I'd clarify, but in any case, thanks for posting the picture.Image IPB

Edit: Sorry, when I posted this I my computer didn't have the other exact same responses before mine posted yet. Sorry!

I wouldn't rule Thane or Kai Leng out. Thane is very good, sure, but doesn't mean he'll win. Kai Leng is good too. It also depends on the nature of the fight. Thane relies on stealth but you can't use stealth in a cage match.

That, plus Kai Leng looks like he is now a Reaper Avatar, so probably has been scaled up to Sarenish level difficulty, and has heightened abilities, and is now also possibly a biotic, and can dual weild Assault Rifles.

I have the scans too and no matter how much I zoom in I can't make out if that white part on his armor is the Cerberus logo or not. There also doesn't appear to be any other indication, like his tattoo on this guy.

Either way I still 'think' it's him. Then again this is artwork and not final. So it could turn out to be someone else.

A lot of people who read that article were confused by its layout. I can see why people think that picture is one of James Sanders, but it is definitely Kai Leng.

Personally, I doubt we'll see a staright up fight between Shepard and Kai Leng, as Shep will probably have his squad with him. Although I agree that it would at the very least extremely difficult, if not improbable for Shepard to defeat a Reaper upgraded Kai Leng in solo hand to hand combat.

Hopefully Kai Leng gets the "Zevran" treatment and can be recruited after being beaten in a fight.

Either that, or he's a uber scary jerk. It would be wonderfully awful if he killed one of your squad in a really brutal manner, and as a result, Shepard kicks his ass Paragon or Renegade style.

I don't like this design. He looks like Raiden from MGS4. They should just make him more militant at least. Then again, I shouldn't complain. I spent half of yesterday raging about people who complained about Vega and William's designs.

I see Kai Leng as being the TIM's exclusive body guard. In the boss battle against TIM you will probably have to defeat Leng to get to him.

I'm kinda disliking that all these other people can have long hair (Kai Leng, Ashley apparently) but my Shepard has to have a close cut or something. Medium length dreadlocks for ME3!

And other, lesser long-hair types, of course. :-)

Remember this is just artwork, the devs usually have different design's before they pick the final one to put in game.

I put the larger picture of Kai Leng mainly because I don't see the white design part on his chest being the Cerberus logo.

I think Kai Leng would be a lot more interesting as a squadmate precisely because he is very racist and xenophobic. It would create conflict and conflict is fun in a story. Seeing him grit his teeth and get along with Tali and Garrus would be satisfying.

Especially when you start making out with your alien love interest in front of him.

I don't see why people would complain that he shouldn't be in ME3 since he was in the books.

Saren?

And just because you didn't like him in the books, doesn't mean he'll be underwhelming in ME3...sheesh -_-

Hopefully hes barely in ME3 because his character was incredibly retarded. I actually facepalmed when reading the part of the novel where he somehow manages to kill a squad of turians. What BS.

Yeah, because nobody could ever kill a squad of turians. That's just BS.

You ever see a turian in-game? They're impossible to kill.

Anyway, I'd like for him to be presented as a sort of rival for Shepard, assuming we can't have him as a squadmate.

Did you read the novel? Im guessing you didnt.  He kills a squad of armed Turians, unarmed.

I did read it and I didn't see anything wrong with that scene. I've killed squads unarmed in Mass Effect. Under the right circumstances it can be done and Kai Leng certainly knows what he's doing. Besides, these were just rent-a-cops/thugs. Not exactly the creme of the crop.

Shepard has cybernetic implants and fights enemies that suffer from bad AI. Kai Leng ont he other hand miraculously kills at least 3 turians that had full armor and guns. The fact that none of them simply shot him or simply overpowered him ( you know, how they outnumbered him and had guns) is retarded.
Keep in mind Kai Leng had no armor (another thing that seperates him from shepard), so a single shot could have killed him.

Also, according to the novel, these were not in anyway ``rent-a-cops.`` It was clearly stated multiple times that they were highly skilled/trained and  were picked for the mission specifically because of that. Again, this leads me to believe that you havent read the novel.

He knew where to hit them, how to take advantage of a situation, and he's a trained killer. Did you forget that? He's not just some average joe.

Whatever the case, I'm certain nothing will convince you and I don't care.

I find the books enjoyable. If you don't, that's fine. I'll admit the books aren't classy, they are video game tie-ins after all.
