Closure of Interplay and, especially, Black Isle. I know that a fair number of the old team went to Obsidian, but it isn't the same
The fact that there isn't a Baldur's Gate 3: The Black Hound, or a Planescape 2 or Arcanum 2, or another Vampire the Masquerade game. Damn, I really really miss games that have never been made.
This^ and I almost feel a sense of cognitive disonnance; I also feel sad about BI and Interplay, while I also like your post. Ahh, those were tha days, and Obsidain isn't close to being the team that was then.
That is probably the worst news, but I think Obsidian is the same team they were then. If their timeframe in the gaming world shows us anything, it's the fact that they take the same risks as Black Isle did back then. A game like Alpha Protocol is just as exotic as Planescape and Fallout were in those days. I would go out and say that Black Isle would be in the same if not worse situation than Obsidian is today trying to get accustomed to a different fanbase and new technology.
