That's ok though, because this generation is fighting the new civil rights movement by fighting against the fascist tyranny of DRM and fighting for the God given right to download everything on the internet for free because sharing is caring and we're entitled to everything even if the extent of our productivity is eating KFC and playing World of Warcraft while spamming trade channel with recycled Leeroy Jenkins and Over 9000 memes.

The youth of the 60's were the generation who brought on the social changes such as the end of the draft, and the end of segregation. This generation remained strong as a nation during the vietnam war, the assassination of a beloved president, the threat of nuclear annihilation during the Cuban missle crisis and Soviet annexation of Eastern Europe.

You know what just for this I'm going to illegally download 20 games right now... (ignoring the fact that my harddrive only has 10 GB right now lol)

Whatever it might be, the situation of youth and children of this generation is formed by TV, High Resolution Video Games, Internet and Satellite Programs. Some of them have been harmful ..

Personally I think we're a shadow of those who defeated fascism in WWII, that isn't to say there are many brave men and women, like those fighting overseas for example, but for a variety of reasons your average person only looks out for themselves.
The real struggle we face as nation is the one against international terrorism, although most don't recognize that. No, they would rather hack the websites of legitimate companies and organizations who dare want people to pay with money.

We used to be cool back in the 70s and do protest, it was about peace and law. What happended to us?
Well you see the Children of the babyboom. The adults in the 70s had the power because they had the numbers. Right now they out number this generation effetivly taking away our power for change in a democratic government and right. No the the Generation of the 70s is all old and stuff the're just no longer hip and jive so things remain the staus quo

"We're in Vietnam, preventing an uprising of the native people against a government so harsh buddhist monks are self-immolating in the streets! That government is propped up by our support! The soldiers fighting the conflict were drafted, and a great deal of them disagree with the war on principle! We're seeing pictures and footage of this conflict unlike ever before, because of the revolutionary war journalism that's taking place"
vs
"One of the largest entirely volunteer-based armies in the history of mankind is going into a hazily-bordered conflict against a nebulous, but clearly quite vile enemy that drives young men to explode themselves. The news often ignores these wars, focusing instead on Charlie Sheen and Sarah Palin."
Also, consider color t.v. versus video games.

I seem to remember back then Government buildings having soldiers with Machine Guns on them, and in one case a few protestors, vanashing or getting shot by said law. And between them and the 60's or the biggest majority of baby boomers, I can't decide which is the most responsible for the ME and MTV generations being well like they are. Lazy bastards for the most only good for biilding giant statues of my glory when I enslave you all. And by that I mean, win a fair and lawful ellection, and I love the Republic, I love Democracy, and I will lay down these powers when this crisis is abated.
Plus population shifts, too many of them not having enough kids to at least take there place in the work force, other lovely things. As to violence among new groups, its moderate, not worth mentioning at times, and in any case, the natural order of things. All men may vote, but a dead man may not. Thats when politics get ugly, when you go "Hey wait a damn momment, why are we dealing with this ****, we can just murder him and throw his body in the River." Which makes what we are doing now, not much unlike what we did ten thousand years ago or so. Minus we have guns in place of spears. And those worried about population control, just need to shut up for 30 years, given a huge chunk of the worlds population that was born after WW2, will be dead soon, then funny enough they'll switch to yelling HAVE MORE KIDS BEFORE WE GO BROKE!!!! I'll wager.
If anything the protest back then only paid off as most people in Politics love the job, and the power, and don't give two ****s about the people's will, so much as when the ones the speak loud enough are in the voting block for that district next year. In part this has alot to do with the Current Administrations not being willing to do jack about illegal Immigrants, praticularly in Europe and the US. As thats the next voting block for some of them. Hmm makes the alternative not look so bad at times. Ah well just my mussings at least.
As Good Ole Abe's proclamation said "all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free" but exempted border states and those areas of slave states already under Union control. Just goes to show you, politics is more about power projection than any humanitarian efforts, much as the situation currently in Libya.
