The "Wild West of BSN" ~Seboist

"The Good: Shepard
The Bad: Illusive Man
The Ugly: Udina"
~Jedi Sentinel Arian

Welcome.

Our favorite "advocate" of humanity is slated to make a return appearance in Mass Effect 3 (ME3) on March 06, 2012.

Does The Illusive Man indeed have humanity's best interests at heart? Has he (and Cerberus) become nothing more than a pawn, or a driving force, in a more sinister plot?

This is a discussion/support thread based on official news and/or rumors regarding his role in ME3.

I hope whatever Bioware comes up with for ME3 will do him justice.

I like the Illusive Man a lot, not because I actually think he's rather honest (! - think about it) but just because he's a deliciously fun character.

In fact, I think he's easily my favourite character in the entire ME universe.

Whatever happens, I hope he can't be killed in ME3 (unless you know, everyone dying is an option) because I think for all of Shephard's capabilities, he/she isn't actually smarter than the true Jack.

TIM is a great man who saved humanity from the Collectors and who's dedicated decades of his life to advancing human rights and interests. He's the man most deserving of settling down with my femshep.<3

I like that the Illusive man will be an enemy in ME3. I don't like his motivations, but he's a very complex character and intelligent enough to give my Shep a challenge.

I think that even Martin Sheen would approve of this thread.

I support the Illusive Man coming back in ME3 just long enough for me to shot him right between those now glowing eyes of his.

I bet he would, too. I still find it funny when he said he doesn't like him. I think that's why so many hate TIM because of how Martin portrays him. Goes to show that these VAs were fantastic!

Btw, I think one of the avies (the OPs) could actually be Martin animated. It's not, but could you picture it?

Meh. I am not setting my hopes up for a decent role. I pretty much expect TIM to be ME's equlievant of "First enchanter Orsino" or rather "I am going to turn bad now because the plot demands it".

I would like a boss battle with the guy. Maybe he can get into a cyborg suit or something. Also at the end it would nice if you could get the option to kill him or let him live so he can support Shepard in the war.

That sadly isn't out of the question.

if there would be a boss fight with him,i expect that it would be similar to sarens at the end of ME1.a reaper enhanced TIM who is taken over by harbinger.

Then, folks will say that it is too much like Saren with Sovereign - although they can't just "do nothing" after emphasizing his eyes in ME2. Whatever they came up with, I just hope he's a formidible foe!

not nessciarly,if done right ppl like throw backs.ME2 may be more epic or better to some but ME1 is the classic.what better way  to end your triliogy than the way it started.

a reaper indoctrinated TIM is to some a sympathetic charecter. a man who tried to save the galaxy but was overcome and possesed (much like saren) and now against his will he becomes the enemy.

haveing a final boss fight with him in this manner mirrows past events and sort of brings  closuer to it all.

*minor fixes*

Oh, yeah! I didn't say I'd be one of those people who'd frown on throwbacks; however, if that scenario were to happen, I'd like to actively take down Harbinger and TIM. I read that Kai Leng would be involved, too. Basically, I want to actively take on everyone who stands between us. I do hope they do this right!

kai leng will be an enemy while i dont know for sure i belive almost 90% he will be.bioware likes to play "shade of grey" with things but in the end their line of morality is rather clear "mass genocide" bad "terroism" bad "xenophobia and racsim" bad.

"cerberus and their actions" (despite their noble golas) bad.you can probley role play anti alliance and council.but its pretty likely that cerberus will be completely destroyed.

this is just my perspective.

TIM has my support. I strongly hope Bioware doesn't go with:
- TIM is indoctrinated
- TIM is just EVILLLLLLLLLL

TIM is supposed to represent the best and worst of humanity, not some 2D bad guy.

I am not optimistic about what ME3 will do with his character, but I hope it won't ruin him and turn him into a meh 1-2D character. I am generally getting tired of Bioware's entire writing philosophy and them ruining TIM in such a fashion would push me closer to indifference.

Does The Illusive Man indeed have humanity's best interests at heart?

Absolutely. He's proved that many times and this is plainly evident in the novel Retribution.

Perhaps they might have him turn into a harvester or take out a cigarette made out of an idol which in turn is made of pure eezo which in turn gives him super powers! :P
