^ Yeah. I was so excited for ME3, it sounded so good. But the more I hear the less interested I am.

The news about Cerberus and TIM really killed a lot of enthusiasm I had for ME3. I'll still get the game if for no other reason than due to investing so much time into the franchise and wanting to see how it'll end and morbid curiosity of how they'll screw it up.

There's no doubt Bioware is made up of bleeding heart liberals that have a moral dilemma with trying to portray anything non-pc in a fair manner.

As a bleeding heart liberal myself, I object to that insinuation.
Let's keep real-life politics out of the gaming discussion, shall we?

Now, that said, it does drive me absolutely batty how Bioware hypes their 'grey and grey' morality, and yet are constantly pressuring their players to be shining beacons of incorruptible pure pureness. Moral ambiguity has almost never been treated fairly in their games, much less the 'darker' paths.
Sets my teeth on edge, I can tell you that.

They must be a different kind of bleeding heart liberal then.

One of the best examples of how lopsided the system is the Veetor situation, where on one hand you let him go back to the flotilla , get the data and have TIM ending up pleasantly surprised the Quarians offered an olive branch but the alternative? You get the same data..... and that's it. It's rendered utterly pointless and ends up being the worse decision.

No doubt all the pro-Cerberus decisions Shepard has made will end up with her being scolded for being an idiot and will end up looking like a fool. Hell, we already had a sample of what's to come in ME2 after the SM if the base was kept.

I'm sure everyone already saw this, but intel about TIM is very scarce, and it belongs here. Here we go, in chronological order:

Casey Hudson on Twitter, 11 May:

TheSigalov: I know I asked you yesterday, but just in case you didn't get it: Are Cerberus really working for the reapers?

Casey Hudson: Can't tell you what Cerberus is up to, other than that they are definitely out to get you in #ME3.

Casey Hudson on Twitter, 11 May:

0Irkalla0: "You were begrudgingly working for Cerberus in ME2"-Really?I was perfectly fine with it. So much for deepening the RPG aspect.

Casey Hudson: Shepard had no choice but to work with Cerberus in #ME2. But both #ME2 and #ME3 let you roleplay whether you agreed with that.

Casey Hudson on Twitter, 7 June:

The_Bouk: Huge spoiler drop during this #ME3 demo, not cool. #E3 Reapers working with Cerberus? Seems a bit major.

Casey Hudson: Nah, not a spoiler, just simplification of premise for TV. Cerberus & Reapers are both against you in #ME3 - the mystery is why.

Interview with Mac Walters, 26 July:

Nrama: So Cerberus is continuing to play with fire...

Walters
: They are. In the same pursuit as always. The Illusive Man is very much about control, very much a "let's not destroy it needlessly if there's a way we can use it for our own advantage." And as you say, they're playing with fire. How many times until they get burned?

Nrama: Of course it looks like the Illusive Man "got burned" during the First Contact War (as seen in Mass Effect: Evolution) and maybe doesn't even realize it yet.

Walters: Yeah but even that is kind of open as to exactly what happened there. Obviously, Mass Effect 3 will reveal all; that's the point of Mass Effect 3, we tie up a lot of those loose ends. But I think it's safe to say The Illusive Man is still very much "himself" throughout the course of what people have been playing. We wouldn't ever want you to feel like "oh this guy I worked for was really an enemy all along." But that doesn't mean there weren't influences in his life.

Brenon Holmes on BSN:

You won't be fighting Cerberus all game.

I can't remember quite off the top of my head... but I think Cerberus accounts for 40-ish percent?

Mac Walters on Twitter, 7 August:

DawnTreader_LMB: Both situations give TIM the info. So, there will be a significant difference if I destroyed or not the base?

Mac Walters: Oh yes. Very big.

Mac Walters on Twitter, 10 August:

TheTMA2: Would you say Cerberus is after you for different reasons, depending on the ending of ME2? Or is it the same reason?

Mac Walters: I'm not sure I would say #Cerberus is after you at all. Though #Shepard and the #IllusiveMan clearly don't see eye to eye in #ME3.

Mac Walters on Twitter, 19 August:

MasterSamson88: The hard part of a Cerberus news type thing for 3 is probably the fact that the galaxy isn't stable in 3 like it was in 2.

Mac Walters: That, and Cerberus is trying to kill you.... ;)

Here's something I pieced together from the demos of the mission on Sur'Kesh, most notably this one with actual subtitles:

Shepard: Are you okay?

Mordin: Containment shield is holding. Can't speak for krogan's health, however.

Female krogan: I'm fine, Commander.

Mordin: Females kept secret. Possibly a mole in STG. Could be indoctrinated.

Mordin: If no krogan alliance with turians, Reapers left unchallenged.

Shepard: We'll do more than challenge them.

Mordin: Shepard, meet us at the next checkpoint. Cerberus likely to target -

Mordin: Hurry! Next checkpoint!

Cerberus soldier: Copy all squads: I have the krogan in sight.

Cerberus soldier: She's in transit, headed up to the next level. All squads converge.

Wrex: Shepard, get cracking!

Wrex: The salarians are taking a beating! Get the female out (...)

Cerberus soldier: Somebody get me a location on the krogan.

Liara: Cerberus just don't quit, do they?

Shepard: They're indoctrinated. They're capable of anything.

Salarian: Watch it! We've got a large Cerberus force down the hall!

Guardian: Orion Squad, your orders are to hold position and block access to next checkpoint.

Garrus: Looks like Cerberus got some upgrades.

Salarian: I'll try to cover you! Push ahead!

Liara: Taking them head-on may not be the best idea!

Garrus: May try to flank them instead.

Salarian: Keep moving! I'll handle them!

(Me: Awww. That's heroic. Wait a minute. Where are the turians? I can't see a single fighting, bleeding turian around, except for Garrus, who's with Shepard. Why isn't this a union between the krogan, the salarians, and humanity?)

Garrus: They get any closer, and this is going to be hand-to-hand!

Liara: I think we got them all.

Garrus: To the next checkpoint! I'm sure Cerberus isn't done.

Door: Scanning.

Door: Access confirmed.

Garrus: Mordin's right. Cerberus must have been tipped off. They got here too fast.

Shepard: Every war has its traitor.

Cerberus trooper: Break through those shields!

Mordin: Cerberus outside pod, Shepard! Need assistance!

Mordin: Enemy still present! Pod under fire!

Mordin: Hurry, Shepard! Containment shield failing!

Mordin: Suspect Cerberus has cut power. Can't progress until you reroute emergency systems.

Liara: Look around. There must be a power conduit nearby.

Power Terminal: Power now online.

Mordin: Excellent! Can clear us. Wait! Another Cerberus squad!

Cerberus trooper: We've reacquired the krogan, grid five-three-one.

Shepard: Don't let them near the female!

Garrus: Understood.

Liara: Affirmative.

Mordin: Excellent. (...) Can clear us through now.

Shepard: How are you holding up?

Mordin: Containment shield weakening. Can't take much more.

Krogan female: This isn't your problem, Commander. You don't know me.

Shepard: But I'd like to. Hang in there.

Shepard: How many more checkpoints?

Mordin: Just landing area. Hope Urdnot Wrex still waiting.

Krogan female: Wrex can't keep his hands off a fertile female. He'll be there.

Shepard: I'll see you at top.

Garrus: Enemies up ahead!

Cerberus trooper: (enters room) (sees pod) (very excited) We found the krogan!

(Me: What you found is your death. Don't be so happy.)

(Note that he doesn't say: We found Shepard, let's kill him!)

(...)

Liara: That was the last one.

Shepard: Let's get the hell out of here.

(...)

Mordin: Appears safe. Need final approval now, Shepard.

Mordin: Shepard, you must authorize release.

Mordin: Pod in transference to landing area.

Shepard: Let's get you out of here.

Wrex: Shepard! Heads up! You've got incoming!

(ENTER ATLAS)

(Everybody stares at Atlas in awe.)

Wrex: Shepard! I can't land until you deal with that thing. It's too dangerous!

AtlasPilot: (overconfidently) Krogan has been acquired.

Mordin: Door is damaged! Can't get out!

Shepard: Stay clear. I've got it.

Mordin: Protect the krogan, Shepard! She's vulnerable!

Based on this, it appears that Cerberus is after the krogan, not after Shepard. Which isn't much of a consolation, because...

"Mordin: If no krogan alliance with turians, Reapers left unchallenged."

And the latest intel, from this demo briefing:

"Cerberus is a privately funded radical pro-human organization. While their current motives are unclear, they appear to be opposing the Systems Alliance. They should be considered extremely hostile and dangerous."

(Aaand you can see a glimpse of TIM in that file! Although I can't tell if it's not from ME2.)

Why thank you, EDI, for informing us what Cerberus currently is.

Quit a bit of contradictions there like "Cerberus isn't out to get you, TIM and Shepard just don't see eye to eye" and then "Cerberus is trying to kill you".

No kidding. You noticed, too? One thing for sure - Cerberus is the enemy in ME3. And you'll be shooting them for half of the game.

Yeah, and the whole "Shepard can roleplay whether she agreed with working with them or not in ME2"  thing will just be Shepard being able to say "TIM why you don't like me no more?" right before he sends another platoon of commandos her way.

Yeah...ugh. Come on, which is it? Are they trying to kill you or not? <_<

Though this interested me quite a bit:

"DawnTreader_LMB: Both situations give TIM the info. So, there will be a significant difference if I destroyed or not the base?

Mac Walters: Oh yes. Very big."

Hmm...

TIM obviously has a huge role to play in the game...I suggest we wait instead of coming to conclussions on which will drive us absolutely crazy until the game comes out, IDK...go hug a hippie, or kill him for that matter until the game is out.

@Seboist: That's incredible! Thank you. I now have a huge star on my desktop background. :D Makes me want to conqure the world.

TIM's got quite a collection of stars, doesn't he. They're very beautiful. I wish we could visit those systems and peer at those stars from the window of the Normandy. Samara won't be at the Starboard Observation. Maybe I can claim the room for meditation, and sit in there, gazing at the star, while I'm deciding on my next move against the Reapers.

The view of those stars from TIM's station are incredible. It'd make for the ultimate romantic evening between him and femshep. <3

I'm sad to admit that I find the picture with the Paragon star a lot more amazing than the one with the Renegade star. The lighting is better.

Yeah and in the Paragon ending you can finally see TIM clearly.

The blue one is nice but I'm going to have to disagree. The red one is even better. Besides, it is more in-tune with the Illusive Man's motif that he be hard to see. The red makes his eyes stand out more.

Honestly, the whole "Cerberus / TIM isn't indoctrinated... or are they?" marketing is too similar to the Legion / Garrus cover-up from the Mass Effect 2 marketing.

They've revealed too much and now they're trying to keep it pretty and wait until we've got the game in our hands before saying much more, similar to how they denied Legion and Garrus being squad-mates after multiple websites / videos showed they were part of the game.

I just hope that what Cerberus is doing in ME3 is consistent with their stated goals so far and that indoctrination has nothing to do with it.

I'm a big fan of the eyes in the Renegade one too, though they're still (oddly enough) prominent in the Paragon scene.

Yep, we have Shepard saying the Cerberus troops are indoctrinated in the Sur'kesh demo and we know for a fact that in a Bioware game when a character says something it's true 98% of the time.

Oh well, I have my own story to role play in case they butcher both TIM and Cerberus.

Sometimes I think I might not pre-order ME3 after all and might instead wait for it to come out. Then I'll see what people here think and buy it or not.

Even though the ME2 lopsided import bull**** and the news of Cerberus has killed a lot of enthusiasm I had for ME3 I'm still too much of a ME addict to not get it.  That and I'm a glutton for punishment and have a morbid curiosity about the whole thing. :P
